What can you do today to make this weekend successful, and find progress?

** Pickup to local mechenic for several repairs
** 11:00 - OU game (home) on ESPN so DH will have to listen to it on radio
** 1:00 - LO to classmate Birthday party (Cory's daughter…what is her name????) Need to look it up in the yearbook before the party.


Today's Menu -
B: Raisin, cinnamon bread slathered with butter and "fried* in cast iron skillet making the slices crispy on outside and soft on inside.
L: Fresh Tamales ….not sure what to serve with them. Maybe just adding a green salad
S: Lemon pie. This will be an all-day effort to make - fit in between other things. Ingredients for the crust are chilling in refrigerator now. Will make/bake crust by lunch then let it cool until after getting home from LO Bday party. Make filling and bake…hopefully the finished pie will be cool enough to cut by 5pm.

We tried to fit in trip to see DGS7 today but with one vehicle being repaired, it just wasn't do-able.

I took a few minutes this morning and enjoyed looking over the 44 items inventoried, cataloged and photographed this week. After many attempts I have finally found a way to combine the information (excel, jpg & notes) into an organized manner that is easily searched and always available. And it is all backed up! Now that I have a method in place, I plan to add a few items a week to this inventory system. I am incorporating it into weekly focus and will inventory as I declutter and deep clean.

Not doing well playing Time Slot Tetris today. Need to "up" my game a few levels.

Good morning! I have s2sed, made bed, switched laundry - folded a load, teeth and face care. I'm now leaving for church meeting for sg leaders which starts this minute. . I'll be late.

Later today - quick groc. run for tonight, catch up on laundry, jog w/ dh, dinner - grilled chicken, baked potatoes, steamed veggie. Then, I'll drive dd15 to sg sleepover in neighboring village about 35 minutes away. . .

Harriet thanks for starting us out with such a great thoughtful topic today.

I have fed the hens while coffee was brewing. If I can get the rest of the branches I pruned up loaded will make the new week go smother. Getting the laundry current and dishes to have me happy with weekend progress so far.

Dh got out of the house early to start the men's breakfast. He's cooking, cleaning up and the speaker. Then he'll come home and pack and we are to be out of the house at 12:30. Super crazy day for him.

Ds had a good couple of shifts at work. In theory, that is his last overnight shift. We'll see if he picks up any extras between now and the 26th. He has no more shifts for a while but lots of events out with friends. He's been out with 'not the girlfriend' three times this week and they are meeting up again tonight. I'm wondering if things will change between them once this adventure is over and he settles back into regular life. One thing he likes about her is that she is great to travel with when things go wrong. She is very laid back so doesn't get tense or hysterical.

On the other hand, he dislikes the fact that she runs in her own time-zone. There's NTGF time and then the time everyone else respects. That drives him crazy. It bothered me a bit too last year when we were all on holiday together until I realize how sick she was. When I got hepatitis I then fully forgave her for staying in bed most of her holiday. She was simply exhausted from all her digestion issues. She had been hospitalized a few times before the trip and I'm sure she was still recovering from all that.

I've finished updating the church board meeting minute book. Did a load of laundry and got it out on the line, folded ds's second load of laundry from last night and have tidied a very little bit.

Now to finish the sermon. I wrote 2/3 last night and have the remaining 1/3 in my head.

I would love-love-love to get my work paperwork done before I go to bed tonight. That is my worst Sunday night last minute procrastinate job every second weekend. I did some laundry on Tuesday night so I would also like to get the laundry done either today or early tomorrow so I can have a nice Sunday night.

I don't think I'll be able to do anything smart today... off to college town for ballgame. Be back around 1:00-2:00 a.m.
So...
And tomorrow, I will sleep all early afternoon in preparation for dgs's arrival late afternoon. Ddil has to work and ds is out of town.

MOVIES TO WATCH
Also, another of my absolute favorites, don't know how I forgot to put it on my list, The Wizard of Oz is being remastered and coming out in 3D sometime this fall. I must see that too.
NOT usually a fan of 3D, b/c the glasses are bothersome to me, on top of my regular glasses...
but DEFINITELY a fan of The Wizard of Oz.
I told dh he has to take me to both of these, that where Mary Poppins and the Wizard of Oz are concerned, I am five years old again.
HE said, "You're always five years old."

This morning started out smart! Dson had no traffic 100 miles South, to our house, rang our doorbell at 7 a.m., while we were sleeping! Luckily we have a very loud chimes doorbell to hear with. Gong-gong-gong! We donned our bathrobes and slippers to rush and fix the security system to let them in. Dson dismantled the doors on the old fridge, they got it loaded in their truck, I sent them off with the books for the fridge, on parts, how to assemble doors, etc... Good idea! It was great to see dgrson-9.5, 4.5, and 14.75, too.

Now we're awaiting the appliance store's delivery men, so DH can hook up the water hose to the new fridge. They no longer do that with installation, in case there would/should be damage or leaks, so they won't be liable. DH said he did the old fridge water hook-up and it can't be any harder.

My smart weekend will be to log some short stories. 2 are partially logged, 1 is handwritten out from beginning to end. Will send off next week. So after the new fridge comes, we get it refiled, I'll start laundry and stories.

I think I'll run to have cup of coffee #2.

Thank you Kathryn, because of your comment about NTGF, I finally have the phrase that fits dd2, to a T, "runs in her own time zone". Dd2 definitely does that and it drives everyone crazy.

Last night was the first home football game at the HS. Dd2 had just picked up our season tickets yesterday after school. Her dh decided to go to the game and had to shower. They would call when they were ready to leave home and we would meet them in the parking lot. The game started at 7. She called at 7:20 and it was 7:35 or later before we were seated because squatters had taken our seats and had to be moved. Dd2 apologized for us missing the kickoff. We never see the kickoff, so it was nothing new. It started raining just after the half-time show, so we came home.

Dh is in New Orleans. They arrived there about 5:30 yesterday. They are spending the day there today. They will head to Little Rock, AR tomorrow. The next day, dh and his friend will head northwest, instead of north and then west with the others. So that should put him home, sometime Tuesday. One of the guys has posted several pictures on FB. Last night there was one of dh as he was eating alligator. He will try anything once! Dh told me Thursday that the self professed leader had gotten really grumpy with everyone, starting on Wednesday afternoon. He was better yesterday and then had started it again. I asked what the deal was. He said that J has no patience with the world and bulls up and makes everyone miserable, when things aren't working to his plan. Dh, his friend and the one who went to Canada last year with them, are planning a 2 week trip next year to the Pacific NW. Some of the hometown guys wanted to go also. I am really wondering if dh will want to travel with J again, because he pulled this same thing 2 years ago when J, dh and another guy went to Texas.

I had more to say but it is noon and dgs7 has a game at 3. Dsisil went back to bed. We'll need to eat lunch, shower and head to the game.

x sg leaders meeting; I'm not technically the study leader, but I think dh and I are on the books for that role. I'm more the organizer/admin for the group. Skippable small group tangent: We're considering adding one of two families to our small group, and are wondering how to do that. Lots of emails going this week. One family has 2 young school-aged boys. The other has an 18mo and a newborn. I think dd17 would need babysitting help with the addition of either family. The older family is Korean, the other is caucasian. The older family is established in our community and church, the other arrived in town in Aug. about 2 weeks before the arrival of their 2nd baby. (This is the family for whom dd17 babysat overnight when the mom went to the hospital.) Our small group is about half Asian half caucasian right now with one mixed couple, my dfriend S2 and her dh. Both families are associated with the med school here, which 2 (or 3?) other small group members are as well.

Dd17 went clothes shopping with GG. I hope GG will encourage dd17 to buy some fashionable clothes. Dd15 is working on homework. Her history class this year is a LOT of work.

Dh and I will go jogging in about an hour, I think. Wow! This day is going fast!!
