Fall returns at 4:44 EDT tomorrow. Where DID the summer go?

My power supply to this computer arrived yesterday -just as promised when I ordered it late Wed. afternoon. Amazes me how 1 company can get something out so quickly (also got a USb recorder that I ordered later by 3 hours) and others take weeks or more! We got A mazon P rime a number of months ago and I have more than saved the cost on shipping alone. Let alone things like the power supply I found at 28.95 +shipping and on Am it was $8.99 no shipping.

Rain has been very slow getting here -it's west and north of us but it's getting much darker now so expect it soon.

DS-R and DDIL ordered a new 5th wheel -same make as their present one but much better layout. It is custom ordered so the season will be over by the time it gets here.

Think this rain is to come in the form of thunder storms so will plan to get off here soon.

Think dgs20 is coming tomorrow to look at getting my computer righted again. I'm hoping. Have to pick him up and take him home -he can't drive because of low vision.

Guess the day will be spent inside perking up a few things. Have company coming Wednesday -2 old friends -mean that quite literally. It's good motivation for me!

Good Morning!

I was greatly relieved to wake up with no dizziness!

LO continues with his enjoyment of the first hotel stay. I believe he has examined every single item in detail. What is that? What does that sign say? etc. I hadn't noticed how often he jumps up-N-down for no other reason than happiness and extra energy. He has gained an awareness of being in a building with people below us and on the other side of the wall from us and how sound travels.

DSon txt before 7:30am asking when we are arriving. It's a good thing we are both early risers. DGD2 is too - she has always woke up around 5am ready to start her day. Those early morning hours together before everyone wakes up is one of my favorites times.

Glad you're feeling better, OK! It is fun to hear of LO's adventures in the hotel.

We had some rain last night, Dee, but I don't think we had thunderstorms last night. It is damp this morning but not currently raining.

Dh and I went for a jog. I didn't want to, but it felt good afterward. I'm glad I went.

Today in broad strokes:
- a.m. routine
- some laundry
- another groc. run; I wasn't sure what we were doing for small group when I went Thursday. Now I know.
- make lasagne casserole
- some house cleaning in preparation for
- small group at our house 5 - 9?
- coffee date with dh

Dh is doing soup kitchen this afternoon. I believe he is taking the girls with him, including GG.

Ds is at the big U's "hackathon" this weekend! It sounds like fun - for him. I think he's on a team with some friends, which he'll really enjoy. He is a team player. It runs 9 pm Friday night - 9 a.m.? Sunday a.m. There is a napping area if the students get tired. . . The students, from all over the US and Canada, work in teams of 2-4 to think up and then create some software technology item. There is corporate sponsorship - and corporate mentors as well as talent scouts. Ds and friends are a bit on the younger end, being 2nd year students. Ds isn't expecting to do well, but he is expecting to have a great time! I have already asked him, and he does not have assignments due Monday. He is going to be dead tired by Sunday. . .. .

I'm enjoying LO's hotel adventure too!

It is a good example of why I think all-day kindergarten or preschool isn't good for little ones. Here, they have started a program so it is all day for age 4 (at Dec. 31 so there are some three year olds) and 5. The reason there is such a push for it is that so many kids are in day-care anyway, and if school is all day, that cuts parents' costs. But being in the same building for 40 hours a week really cuts back on the learning that can take place by being out in the world, exploring.

Woke up at 3:05 and rolled over. My eyeshade was off but I knew it was still dark so wondered if it was about 6 a.m. because I felt pretty awake. A minute or so later, the garage door went up and ds got back from his shift (he must of got off 15 minutes early.) Turned on my smart phone and noted a missed call (telemarketer) around 3, so that's what woke me. It took an hour to get back to sleep and then I woke up at 7:30. Stayed in bed until 9, dozing at first, then reading.

I've s2s now, stripped and remade the bed, changed the towels, started laundry (everything will go in the dryer today because it is raining hard) and have tidied the kitchen. I'm enjoying my tea now.

Hi everybody!

Talked to dd last night. She has so much going on in her life. I had not heard from her in a while and I don't want to be bugging her so I just texted her with "Hi" yesterday morning.

According to dh, I went to bed before 8 p.m. on Thursday. All I know is that I was up before the alarm on Friday morning.

I had some very bizarre dreams last night and when I told dh about them, he said it's my fault for having Chinese food for dinner last night.

It started raining really hard here last night just before I went to bed. I had the bedroom window open so I could listen to it. It was still pouring at 5 this morning when dh was supposed to get up to go to the Farmer's Market for his last week there. He told me to turn off the alarm because he wasn't going in this kind of rain. We just woke up around 11 and it's still pouring.

I don't have any laundry to do this weekend. I also don't have work paperwork. I am planning on going to see my dad.

Dee ~ WHOA! Thanks for the reminder of last day of summer. I am usually good about keeping track of dates, but for some reason I've been out of touch for a couple of weeks. I'm happy I've been able to track the day of the week, but have been fuzzy on the date. Last day of summer makes me sad, we never did get to go camping.

And I missed Talk Like a Pirate Day on Thursday the 19th. Arrr

Newsletter editor sent final draft very late afternoon yesterday, so I had to wait until after supper to run it to the copy shop. Luckily they stay open until 8 on Fridays.

I took a book along and waited while they printed the issue.

Stopped for groceries on the way home.

Folded the newsletters last night while watching tv. Must format and print the address labels today.

Laundry - Folded a load of clothes first thing this morning and will put them away next time I go upstairs. Will try to get all of the towels washed, dried, and put away today.

I'd like to change the sheets, but will probably have to push at least 1 cat off the bed to do it. They always look so adorably cute that I hate to disturb them, but must get tough and power through it.

I was planning on going to the local pizza place for lunch. So glad I happened to check FB this morning. They have a reminder on their page that a clown is scheduled to be there all afternoon. No, thank you. (And thanks to FB for the warning! )

Another thing I saw on FB was a friend talking about listening to radio plays and speculating about finding scripts to record some in his home studio. (He has been recording podcasts for several years on a variety of topics, mostly with comedians.) I'll send him a PM to see how serious he is about it. DH and I used to enjoy participating in readers theater, and DH had a good time recording sound effects and such.

I woke up at 8:30 with Moses barking - turned out our Israeli educator was sitting on our back porch and she hadn't invited him to go out with her. It was pouring rain out, and she wasn't sure whether he was allowed outside when it was so wet. We had a nice morning - dh had gone to Torah study and I read the paper and we talked.

Dh and M have gone shopping - they are going to the mall, to a Target, I think, and to Costco. Maybe other places as well but I think they will be out most of the afternoon. There was some discussion about checking in with the other Israeli educator, who is staying with a family that doesn't drive on Shabbat.

Rain is still coming down - probably the most rain we've had in a month now. Good day for a shabbat nap.

I think we'll all go out to eat this evening.

lucylee, that's a lot of errands - I think you actually got a lot done.

helia, thank you for that link! I hope he has a great time, with inspiration.

Sleep disturbances chat - our sleep sound machine fell off the headboard (slightly above our heads) in the night. That was a new one! It was enough to be a shock (especially since it sorta fell on me before the floor), but the real problem was that it turned itself off in the fall. Now, THAT's unacceptable. Sudden silence is some loud stuff. So I tried picking it up, but its plug fell out, sigh. So there was nothing to do but turn on the lights (and you know I am totally against that!) and reconstruct. When it loses power, it reverts to its brand of "heartbeat", which HRH and I both think sounds way too weird! So finally, with light we got our "ocean" back again.

Dee, I hold out lots of hope that your grandson20 will catch on to the problem. That's kind of him to give you a big chunk of the day.

I will give a tentative "thumbs up" to the new Pantene Age Defy shampoo, which really does seem to minimize hair color fading. Have only tried the shampoo, not the other two in the trio of products.
