MARCHING ONWARD MONDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

December is marching on, no matter how I try to slow it down. It's 'crunch' time now so must get myself in gear.

Never even managed to get here yesterday so haven't cuop. And I've lost a whole day somehow. Yesterday was Indiana's birthday. So wanted to recognize her and give thanks for the impact she's had in my life. Happy birthday, dear friend.

Dh is out for his walk. I'm slowly getting around. Need to make my PODA for the day -for the week actually.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

today
ph call from bigsis
yoga
home to eat breakfast missed because of ph call
ph tag w daughters.
caught one in midst of mothering - asked about christmas gifts.
otd towards doc appointment. scripts and referral needed -
time for hardware store for gift for dgd, and a couple of things for me. store card for dd2 as requested.
stopped at healthfood store for lunch - water and carob buckwheat crispbread. How little of everything I eat. quick for doc surgery. luckily I managed traffic - summer hols at tourist/ shopping mecca can be tedious. no waiting at doc surgery. He reminded me of another script needed. ate in the car park.
back to shopping center. Bought some little garments for sgbaby. Looked around so truely feel btdt.
I hate sending money but that is what I'll do to get around all the northern rellies.
home - worn out - had to walk ddog. 2k - my choice.

re shoulder injury - keep moving from elbow it you can so you don't have that freeze. Any movement of shoulder / upper back quadrent you can manage - try to keep those muscles - I used do a version of shoulder rolls - subtle ones. At first to move my forearm - I needed to assist it with other hand - and twice was all I could painfully do. I had lots of elbow and wrist pain. It got easier. At 6 weeks I went to the heated pool and let it/arm float and move it as it could. (I had prev attended aqua aerobics so did what I could reasonably do. Getting in / out of swim gear - difficult.) 30 min in there was as much as I could do. I lost a lot of fitness and ability and stability those weeks after the accident. If you know some safe easy exercises - do them. The rest of your body will thank you. I was careful not to overload my other shoulder as I didn't want it going out on strike as well. Yoga and tai chi have been good for me - done within my ability. I still cannot do all the weight bearing stuff on all fours. I use blocks under my hands - and a folded throw rug under my arm that's now almost an inch shorter. raising my arm up during warrior side bends does not happen. Though it is getting further these days. Admission - I'd like to just lie on the floor instead of down and up etc. But I am so much more able now than I was. To feel stable in the shower and wash myself with 2 hands (and back brush) is so much better. Maybe one day putting on certain undergarments will be easier.
I did very little with my arm those first 6 weeks of broken shoulder and tendon.
When I'd be struggling with thick mucus I'd think it would make good glue to stick together the tendon.
Be careful with pain relief. I wrote down what I took when to keep track of it. Later I found my bowel problems should have disallowed the perscription of some of the heavy duty ones. They also messed with my brain, and took an age to recover from that as well. I am still trying to get my digestive system back to ok for me.
I'm at 6 months and can just lie on that side now - for a while.
I overdid the physio which caused a lot of pain. yes - shoulder did freeze, and it is slowly getting back.
I am still unable to turn my forearm to the side - elbow at waist. I might have an extra 5 degrees of movement there. behind me - I can get to my waist - painfully the limit.

Kathryn - I doubt the legality of over crowded apartments.

I'm glad a few of you found the blog link helpful - or parts thereof. Sorry if the language is too strident in places. When people are way down, its how they think. I want to read some more of her thoughts on Christmas coping in current blogs..
My stinking thinking is less - though still much more than is desirable. Totally need to keep handing it over, talk back to it and so change my thinking about every time it goes awry.

time to get myself ready for bed. I think I'll declare a home day tomorrow. Thursday has 3 destinations. Any one would be enough.
Just begin.
Living this day, today

Look for the good in all.

Good morning Dee!

A week from tomorrow is Christmas Eve. That is when we are having our Christmas. I have so much to do between now and then.

I am down to the stocking stuffers, 1 more gift for dgd4 and need major help with gifts for the boys. Dd2 will be busy today getting ready for her Christmas party this evening with her employees. So she won't be much help today. I have plenty of places I want to check out, so need to do that today.

Tomorrow morning I plan to be at dd2s new house to vacuum and mop again. The guys who will clean the carpet, vents and dryer vent will be there Wednesday and it needs cleaned again before they come.

It is suppose to be in the 60's for the next 3 days.

Guess I better iron some clothes, shower, breakfast, meds, etc.

Good morning, villagers ~
I finished sewing the little gifts yesterday.

Started a little of the big filing reorganization job that needs to be done by tomorrow evening. That will be my main task today.

Before I get to that, though, I need to take the car to the mechanic this morning. Oil change, a headlight is out, and the driver's inner door handle broke off.

As long as I'm in The Big City for that errand, I'll make 2 other quick stops. I want to try again to find new snow boots, and I'm looking for a particular computer game for DMIL.

The schedule for the rest of the day depends on how long I'm stuck at the mechanic. I'm taking some paperwork to do while in the waiting room.

I didn't get here yesterday either, Dee.

I'll join you in going crazy, Elizabeth! Lots to do. . Ai, yi, yi. I'll take one day at a time.

I called dcouple in the church for whom I'm making a meal. She receives her chemo treatment tomorrow. Info given was that they'd like the meal delivered M or W, not Tuesday. And that they like soup and salad. I'm so glad I called! He said the most convenient time to drop off would be Tuesday afternoon. (Yay! I don't have to worry about it today!) And they would like protein. And no more salads. SO glad I called! Did I already say that? ;)

Last night, we figured out that GG fits into an old pair of dd15's shoes and a pair of her black slacks, so I don't have to take her panic shopping this afternoon for clothes for the concert tonight! Yay! More good news! Dd15 gets to wear a long black gown to the concert tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing her in it! It is a tad on the long side, but she doesn't have time to hem it.

Today's goals:
- a.m. routine
- laundry
- finish writing those checks which still haven't written themselves; I'm now adding a check for more oboe reeds for dd15
- drop off dd15's registration for honors band since she didn't get the forms filled out early enough to put them in the mail; they're due today at local Univ. (not the big one, the other state one in city next door)
- groc. store
- finish shopping for dparents: 2 stores, I hope. I'm having trouble finding peanuts salted in the shell. I have a tradition of giving my ddad 5 lbs. of peanuts every Cmas. My groc store doesn't have them this year as it has in the past.
- wrap gifts
- maybe put parents' package in mail today
- make cookies for the concert tonight
- supper will be simple: leftover roast, tamales, rice, mixed veggies
- leave at 6:25 for band concert
- come home by 10 pm, I hope

I have already showered and done teeth care.

Rough Schedule to help keep me on track:
8:45 - 10:00
- finish a.m. routine
- write checks
- start laundry

10:00 - 12:30
- menu plan for the week
- drop off info at local univ.
- Meijers for peanuts (I hope)
- groc. store

12:30 - 1:30
- lunch
- keep laundry going
- start wrapping?

1:30 - 2:30
- downtown store for gift for dmom and also a gift for E and C together

2:30 - 5:15
- wrap gifts
- maybe get parents gifts in the mail?
- keep laundry going
- make cookies
- catch all time; exercise would be nice but Not likely considering my recent track record

5:15 - 6:00
- get dinner together

6:00 - 6:25
- eat start clean up (dh and dd18 can finish clean up after we leave for the concert; dh will join me later)

6:25 - 10:00
- band concert

I forgot another major goal: I need to make sure my camera is ready to record at the concert tonight. I'd like GG's parents to see her performing. Also, I'd like to have a record of dd15 as well! I need to recharge batteries and buy a new memory card for my camera. Even if I erase my current memory card, which I need to do anyway, it won't have enough space. I'm thinking there is something wrong with it. This has happened before.

Morning y'all..
Lynlee I forgot to mention I enjoyed your link as well.
Helia...I love seeing my son when he is all dressed up ...

Looks like the rest of us have our marching orders for today. Mine is pickup day. Doggies and Sweetie are still sleeping so I can't do much until their eye's are a peekin'. I have the laundry sorted and its ready to go. Hope to have the entire house vacuumed and in order by noon. Then I will start with my Xmas cards. I am meeting friends for dinner at 6:30 tonight. Way past my eating time so I wll eat early and enjoy some coffee while they eat.

I'd like to have everything wrapped up by tomorrow. Think I will make my traditional Xmas turkey early this year like I did for Thanksgiving. Way less stressful and we enjoyed it more. I have a chocolate/raspberry cheesecake I want to make too. Last time I made one when my son was around he and Sweetie ate it in 4 days...

Oh...heres Willis poking his head into my lap. Only means on thing... IT'S TIME TO EAT

Sure it is 9:30 but it seems like a lot of posts!

I'm joining Elizabeth and Helia and going crazy!

I'm up, exercise (short time on bike, long time on stretches) and s2s. Unloaded dishwasher and having my tea now.

I'm seizing up so that's why I spent so long on stretches. Sometime in the past year or more, I've lost the ability to squat. I need to get that back, especially as I may encounter squat toilets on the trip, but more importantly because I used to squat down to talk with little children at their level. This is a definite needed motion in my life (I teach Sunday School and work a lot with little ones.) I suspect squatting hurt my knees so I stopped and then even when the pain was less with the knees, the balance/flexibility had gone. Hope I can get it back quickly, I need it for Christmas Eve.

We will do the border run this morning so I've got to get moving now. We should have left hours ago.
