Do you have resolutions or goals that include doing for others?
So many mentions here of selfless giving, and just a few I can think of are donation, hospitality to teen groups or single teens/persons, caregiving, tutoring, writing about spiritual matters, matching families with pets, counseling, cleaning for others, accepting offices in groups, congregational care, anonymous gifts passed along, volunteerism, active forgiveness.
Anyway, we appreciate hearing about it and without the need to brag on each other, it's good to find the inspiration.
What's your plan for the day? FOCUS begins in bathrooms today. Remember P and P writing that we should go into our bathrooms and snif, and then their gentle reminder.. .. "Does it need some Pine-Sol in there?"
I had forgotten about MLK day today also but was reminded when I found dh still at home at 8:30 when I woke up. OTOH, I am going to a MLK day walk and program this afternoon so I guess I did know it was a holiday?

-call nursing home w questions re: dsis, try to set up appt for "care team meeting" on Wed
-see dmom with copies of POA and medical directive for her to look over to decide whether to sign later this week

Today I need to drop paperwork off at the office, do laundry and tidy up a bit. We have a roller derby game to attend this coming Saturday. Mike also wants to drive down to Niagara-on-the-lake either on Friday or Saturday. (Just north of Niagara Falls)
Mike did dishes yesterday.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.
I was up at a decent time and out the door to meet a friend for coffee at 9 a.m. I've been home about 45 minutes; I need to leave again in about 40 minutes to take dd15 to her first rehearsal with her accompanist.
Dd15 is having an oboe reed crisis right now. . . . . A couple of the new ones in our last order aren't working ideally; she made a couple but they're working only so-so. Her teacher may/may not be able to make one for us to buy. . . . Scores from the district festival this coming weekend also count as final exam scores for band. A good reed is vital. . . . and the pressure is on. I really wish the band director did not have this policy. It makes what could be a fun learning experience into a stressful and potentially emotionally-laden experience for kids who care a lot about grades. Ergh.

x take dogs out 2x to go potty, just Maia the 2nd time

x chicken out of the freezer for dinner - lemon pasta (w/ fresh squeezed lemon + zest and fresh basil) w/ grilled chicken, salad, some sort of bread.

- take dd15 to her rehearsal; drop her off at a friend's house en route home

- prep for tutoring for tomorrow

I didn't get to folding laundry or making the bed, but have texted with dniece (dsis' dil) and called nursing home about dsis and talked to my favorite nurse there and walked the ddogs. I need to head out to dmom's soon I think. Will fold a lol and move over load started earlier to dryer before I head out. This afternoon I think I will park my car at the end of the MLK walk and then walk back to the beginning so car will be there when I'm ready to head out...

helia, what is the problem with the dishwasher? With all the problems I've had recently maybe I've learned something that could help. Best wishes to dd with reeds.

TaDa from yesterday was an online order of jeans for me - two pair exactly like one I own and have appreciated lately, one in the same denim color and one in a charcoal, not exactly black. These will require hemming, so that's another job upcoming.
E-mail batch deletion today was christianbook.com. Again, I'm down into those that I've agreed to, so won't unsubscribe right now.
Big declutter push in dd15's room today. She is getting donations ready.
Fielded a call from dcousin and heard that the substitute pianist I used to hire when I was worship coordinator has lost her dh.
Harriet, with this dishwasher, which is only a year or 2 old, it is very typical for the glass glasses to come out with teeny tiny bits of food stuck on them. When it is bad, you can see them. Often, I can just feel them. Sometimes, they are completely clean. I always check glasses when I unload them, even if I can't see anything. It just bothers me to think that someone might be drinking bits of ground up food from the dishwasher with their drink. It was particularly bad this morning - and not just the glasses had small bits of food stuck on them. It tends to be worse when the dishwasher is heavily loaded and/or the dishes are not well-rinsed. We do now run it on a rinse setting before a wash setting.
Rehearsal went well. Dd15 is feeling better about her reeds now, for some reason. Another rehearsal for Friday at 1 is set up. Friday is make up day for finals, and we're not planning on doing make ups.
Dd15's friend came home with us. Lots of studying is happening here.
I do have an idea for sweet bread or muffins of apple banana flavors some fruit here to use up. Dgd likes to bake so she can help with that this week.
