I was going to call it Sunday Soaking because we got soaked here, but most of you are actually getting snow.

But the thread is open for those of you who are just starting your Sunday, courtesy of those of us, just finishing our Sunday (Lynlee and I are pm'ing back and forth.)

Wellington is sometimes called Windy Wellington. It lived up to that name today.

We headed off earlier this morning than yesterday (bonus! an extra 2 hours in the day due to not being lazy in the morning.)

First stop was 20 minutes away at Weta Cave, the company that does visual effects for a lot of movies including LOTR, Avatar, District 9, etc. Enjoyed that stop. Free mini-museum, lots of collectibles to look at and a 25 minute movie covering the history and scope of what the company does.

Second stop was 20 minutes in the opposite direction at the Adrenaline Forest, a tree top adventure site. Ds spent 2.5 hours zip lining and other terrifying activities in the rain and high winds. There are 6 levels of difficulty (and height) but the top level course was closed due to the winds. On level 5, ds had some difficulty because the ropes he was to reach out to were blowing out of reach. He had is GoPro camera on for the climb (they provided a helmet with a mount on it for him) and I got scared watching the video tonight!

While ds did that, dh and I went to lunch at a local mall, worked on the computers for a bit (I transferred the photos from the last 5 days to my computer) and then came back and walked around some forest paths that weaved through the area where ds was wandering through the tree tops.

I had picked up some ham and a bun for ds to snack on when he was done climbing so he ate in the car before driving off.

Ds has been our chauffeur for most of the driving. He's just very good at it and dh is enjoying the luxury of having a driver. We are thinking of renting a car for two days this week since ds has to pick up The GirlFriend (here after known as TGF) from the airport on Wednesday night and we have to get to the airport Friday at lunch and both those trips require taxis.

We dropped the rental car (actually an SUV) at the city location of Avis, saving ourselves $21 in bus fare from the airport.

It was just 4 and we had said we wouldn't be back until after eating dinner so we went to the Te Papa (National Museum) and spent 90 minutes there. I can't say enough about the place. First, it is free so going for even a few minutes is worthwhile. Second, coat check was free (we had three backpacks and coats and hiking poles.) Third, they are open until 6 on a Sunday. Finally, what we saw was really, really, interesting.

At 6 we left and headed out for pizza. The first place we tried was crowded and had a very acrid smell that gave me a headache before anyone came to take our order so we left. It was very unappetizing for me and I wasn't in the mood to eat.

Out on the street we used my phone's data plan to find the highest rated pizza joint which was just 3 blocks away. Found it no problem. It is a hole in the wall, off an alley, with only seats for 5 people. We got the table for 3 and ordered dinner. It was 1/3 the price of the stinky place, great food and the music playing was great jazz. We were getting really mellow, sitting there.

By the time we roused ourselves, we had managed to just miss a bus home so walked one stop, then decided to wait there since it was out of the wind. The bus came, the nice driver had no idea where our stop was but I had a rough idea and we all learned where Pitt Street was! It was only a 5.5 minute walk, all downhill, to the house from there.

The house is dead quiet. Our hostess is writing a new course (she is a professor of 18th century French Literature) in her room. Her kids are at their Dad's. Her new Japanese exchange student (who arrived this afternoon) is in her room. We are on our way downstairs to our rooms after having some hot water and some evening snacks. I had carrots and a banana because I'm so short of veggies for the day.

Tomorrow (Monday) is laundry day for me. And exploring around a bit with ds. We'll meet dh at work and take the ferry across to visit with business contacts for dinner.

Hey, I'm still with y'all! And baby boy (dgs) is still awake, too! That's good, though, b/c his daddy is going to be gone all day tomorrow, and I bet his mommy is hoping he will sleep LATE LATE LATE tomorrow. Since she's not going to get in bed till after 3:00 a.m., obviously. Good grief -- even I did not realize it was this late! Good gracious!!! He's just playing in his playpen. I left the tv on, but turned out the lights. My goodness, this child is a nightowl like the rest of us. We live like vampires. But they (dh, ds, ddil) should be home soon, I think.

I've got all his little sippy cups clean, and the pajamas that took a bath in the toilet, and I've washed two loads of clothes.

I've got a feeling I'll be sleeping through church tomorrow though.

I'm up late too. Missed my computer curfew, but needed to log in after I got home tonight then washed dishes, and the fat drip on my blouse.
Had to cuop x 3 days today. I've been out of the loop with some bigger posting days.

I've been doing well at weeding each day.There was misty rain this morning when I went to church, but this afternoon I made a token effort taking the top off the bank of the next bit. I didn't feel like sitting and digging - there,s an odd bit will take some ducking and reaching under a bush - of my avatar flower. Its currently sporting seed pods..
When I get to the end of this then there is a forest of weed trees, Not looking forward to that.

Tomorrow "the man" is coming to install a new front door that will be suitable as an entry door, and hopefully we will be able to get it to open and close as required. To be thus will be a novelty. Plain - very plain, With a peep hole as I have no windows to see who is there. Unfortunately - it needs cutting down to size and will need painting.

I think 2 yoga classes a week has been good for me. Have been walking the 3 k loop again without being accosted by "the woman" who needs my prayers. Mind you I often say to dog keep walking - don't stop here. Walking the other way so its on the home stretch seems to help too.

.Must go. Its almost an hour past computer curfew. Just tried to find another weed with similar flowers the govt was doing a property search for w compulsory eradication. Not sure I found the one.

Snowy Sunday here. When I got up to take my pill and peeked out to check on the chickens their door was open so I was out checking on them ★ @4 a.m. they were fine ♥ got treats and water early. I swept off the paths and clears a trail to the coop.Had to use my tall boots.

When I was done bs was #74 so I ate just a half slice of sweet bread. Made coffee.

I am beyond my snowfun zone.
Day one oh the snow so pretty 1-2 ".
Day two oh so peaceful and quiet 3-4".
Day three get me out of here 7-10" !
The novelthy has warn off LOL!

K in C & Lynnl. It is so good to hear from you both.
Finaly found Olympic coverage on msnbc.
1st &2nd round if snow removal done. 1-2 more to do.

Good Morning!

Freezing fog = black ice this morning. I walked outside to do furkid chores this morning found every surface is covered with a layer of ice. DD just txt that she and DGD2 are headed this way. They are coming to eat breakfast and say good-byes before heading south to live with DSon and his family. Miracles do happen!

Later today - church, eating with friends, helping LO prepare his valentines for this week, prep for the new week

Up early as I have to get a lot done before church. I didn't get my hair cut yesterday so that will be done as soon as DH gets up.

In the meantime I have a memo, agenda and roster to fold and 13 envelopes to stuff so I can hand them out today to the Deacon Board.

Next Sunday we will be having a day long meeting of the combined boards and then on the last Sunday of the month I am calling a short meeting to get some stuff done. People need to volunteer for some of the ongoing duties and some for just once in a while duties. But we need to know who is doing what.

Dakota (our newly adopted dog) is doing well. I think we should call her velcro as she never leaves our side. She loves to go outside (except this morning) and is crate trained so that is where she sleeps at night. During the day, she has a big pillow under the window. That way she can look out at the bird feeder which is front of the window or sleep. She is very laid back and has only barked a couple times since we have had her (a week and 1/2). Once at some rabbits and last night when she had to go out.

Only two problems with her. I have to keep the waste baskets empty or behind locked cabinet doors. She doesn't eat it but likes to spread it all over the kitchen. And she gets car sick. I think it is nerves as she doesn't know where she is going but it still makes a mess. We now have a big shag throw rug for the back seat (thanks to DBro) and that works. We also bought some shop towels and spray to keep in the car.

Time to go fold and stuff envelopes. TTFN

I was up at 8 and out the door at 9:10 to two meetings at temple. Home again and I've walked the ddogs and am having lunch - turkey sandwich in a pocket with a slice of low fat cheese, tomato, baby spinach and deli mustard. Dh wants to go to Costco (remember that P&P called it "Cramco"?) so we will go. We do need a few things there.

Once we get back I will read the newspaper and run the dishwasher and do some stuff here. This has been a busy stretch of four days, we were out for four nights running.

I really wasn't happy with the fundraiser last night - it was an auction - both silent and aloud but the sound system was terrible and the aloud portion of the auction took forever....was still going at 9:30 and I was ready to go. They had a good band for later dancing but I was just ready to get out of there. Especially since dniece (dsis' dil) was texting me about dsis' house issues and we had been out so many nights running. Wish I could stay in this afternoon but dh wants to do something together so we'll head out....

It is Monday morning here in wet, windy, Wellington so I think I'm declaring a personal holiday. Like Twins, I've been stressed out over non-stop activity.

Dh is at work. Ds is still asleep.

I'm having my tea and chocolate in the quiet house but wonder if our host is still home (the car is on the road, up those 36 steps so I'm not checking.)

It is cold here. It is still summer (the equivalent of the first week of August) and yet the weather is 10*F colder than usual, the equivalent of their winter weather. Currently it is 52*F, and the government weather website recommends three layers of clothing and a wind proof jacket. In the house I have on undershirt, long sleeve knit sweater, fleece vest, jeans and two pairs of socks. Thank heavens I packed the vest, this is only the second time it has been worn this trip!

These are my only pants (except for dress ones) and I'm going out for a business dinner tonight. I'm considering yoga pants under a long skirt but don't have footwear to keep my feet warm if I do that.

Today will be laundry day since we are out of underwear for tomorrow. I'd say this is my last time to do laundry but I need these pants cleaned again before traveling home. I suppose they'll last if I don't but I hate the idea of wearing the same jeans 9 days in a row (including sleeping in them overnight on a plane.)

Finally figured out how to get Mike off his bottom on a Sunday. I started cleaning out the dining room cabinet, and therefore needed to use the counter in the kitchen for the paper towels and S wiffer cloths and w index.

He's now in the kitchen cleaning the top of the fridge.
