For those interested in yesterday's class with the library, the instructor was wonderful and gave everyone many pages of tips and websites to search. He recommends ancestry.com but they do charge fees there.

The one he showed in more detail is a free one at FamilySearch.org. I was helping the woman next to me (she has a mac and was lost on the pc), so I didn't work on the site much myself, but from a brief look it seems to have some nice features.

The instructor said that all of the online sites that he has seen, paid and free, are somehow connected to the Mormon church organization.

Also related to the family topic, today I'll be trying to make progress on planning DH's family reunion picnic. I just finished counting potential attendees, I think it's 55 just in the immediate clan with DH's siblings, spouses, and children/grandchildren. We all need to choose a date this week so I can reserve the park shelter. No hope of getting that many people to agree on 1 day, so we always just try for the date that is most convenient to DMIL and our generation.

A different sort of family day here: we are all online, watching the Gold medal hockey game together, despite the fact that dd and I are watching starting at 7 and ds had to leave the bars to watch since it started 10 p.m. his time.

Fun fact: bars in Canada have been given dispensation from normal liquor laws so they can serve alcohol to those watching the game.

Dd has challenged CM to play the old Hockey Night in Canada Theme as her prelude this morning. (CM and my kids are FB friends so now when I say the family is online, I'm including them and my sister as well as my kids.)

Another family announcement: Ds is coming home some time in March! He's decided he misses home and doesn't want to bother making a life for himself there for just 4 months, he just wants to come home. TGF offered to try and get him a job at the resort she is working at, but he turned down the offer so is doing a last push of touring around, going out to Ayer's Rock, then doing one of his Torture Races (as Lynlee calls them!) in Brisbane, and some diving on the Reef. Then he'll come home, very much in debt but having had the trip of a lifetime.

I won't lie, I'm thrilled! In the past few days I've really missed him because he has an excellent interior design eye and we've been struggling with arranging furniture in the new place. He'll be a HUGE help with that (not to mention actually helping with the move.) Plus he'll be able to take some of our stuff. And help out his sister too when she needs him.

I need to eat breakfast. It is the last period of the hockey game and I think it might actually end before we have to leave for church. Woot! GO CANADA GO!!!!

What good news for you, Kathryn! Happy for all of you that ds is coming home -soon!

For family today, I'm very proud of dd and her TSA team. They've been in competition in Orlando since Thursday. They ended up in 8th place as the 'best overall school' (in the state). They've never placed in the top 10. They managed to get 2 first places and some 2nd's and 3rd's. She's very proud of her TSA (Technology Student Assoc) students. She & another teacher took 20 kids. That's a long weekend!

Think I'll try to get the few dishes done before I leave for church. TTYL

I am up made coffee, checked ib chicks they are fine, hens are too will head out to feed em in a bit.

We had snow an inch or so only on the dirt and grass not on the walk - roadways spring snow perfect for the water content we need, it is pretty an clean looking we need the moisture.

I finished an infinity scarf yesterday. Working on learning a new pattern for a crochet prayer shawl.

I need to spiff up the house dgds are coming to see the new chicks.

Elizabeth, that's so creative of your Dad. Probably a good lesson for dd to just go right up to the local authorities and ask when you have a question. Hogan and the doctor both appreciated here - dd is a Tennant fan.

Noticed the last of Georg (and Agathe) Von Trapp's children has passed away at 99, leaving of course younger half-siblings born to Maria and Georg still living. What a legacy that family offered the world in many ways.

Getting ready for church here. Time conflicts with hospital visiting hours, so we will have to wait until 5 for that.

Family talk - dd15 played frisbee golf with dbil and dstepson yesterday. Today we'll see other family at the hospital. News from dd34 is that their Durango (vital for carrying 3 carseats at this point, since the boys can't travel in their front-seat-only truck) is in the shop for engine work. I need to check with them again and learn how they've handled this. Enjoyed chat with dcousinMary over the phone.

DH is still sleeping so have my sling on. He's so afraid I'll do something to mess up my shoulder if he's not watching me so I leave it on so he can sleep restfully.

I am hating it, hating, that I have 4 hrs of temple meetings this afternoon but there's no other solution. Gorgeous day here and I would love to be free today but it isn't happening.

Long day of socializing yesterday - baby shower at 3 at beautiful house, then home for about 30 min and took off the for the baby shower "after party" dinner at our friends' home with lots of others. I'm feeling socialized out and that makes me resentful of today being busy.

I also have a busy busy week coming up and we are going out of town on Friday p.m. through the following Tuesday late evening.

-meds
-walk ddogs
-do some preliminary work for meetings

Hi everyone.

In case you haven't heard, Canada did win the gold for men's hockey.

Because some people on my FB page weren't happy with me the other day, I didn't share anything this morning. : (

All I need to do as far as cleaning today is the dreaded spare room. The table is covered in paper that has to get dealt with.
