Then There was Thursday. . .
I have no idea what the title means. LOL! It just came to mind and sounded literary and silly - and I guess I'm in a playful mood right now! Make of it what you will. You are an amazingly clever and creative - and caring bunch!

Re: Then There was Thursday. . .
I see Bookie's's light on. . maybe she has a Thursday idea too!
I don't think I ever told Lilac how happy I was to hear her dd and dsil (I hope I got that right) found the perfect house in town! I hope all goes well with the sale of the other house, etc.
Thinking of Kathryn putting her house on the market. Moving is a lot of work! That's close to the price we paid for this house 12.5 years ago.
Renovating is also a lot of work. . Our kitchen is the next hot spot in this old house that needs work. Don't know when we'll want to put up the $$ for that. 2 kids in Univ. next year - and for the next 4 years, actually w/ dd15 heading that way soon - will be an added financial burden. Plus, we will need to replace our van soon. . .. bleh. We only buy cars for cash - we buy everything in cash, actually, don't do loans for anything. . . Not planning on that for University costs either. House was paid off years ago. That helps.
Nice to know I'm not the only one with leg/foot cramp issues, Harmony. I had zero last night!
Dh thinks it is b/c I exercised yesterday. Maybe. . . I'm trying to drink enough water - and I eat a banana every morning. Calcium, I put milk in my tea (about 3-4 cups of tea/day), eat a yogurt for lunch each day, often cook dishes that use cheese. I love dairy!! (Thinking of ((Ivy))) ((Harmony and dh))
Today's adventures:
- moms group, 8:30 ~ 12:30
- teaching team meeting 2-4-ish; I'll need to leave around 1:30 since we're meeting at a home fairly far away
- GG to school at 5:45 to help with synchro state meet, which we're hosting (state meet = 4 teams competing together)
- go watch the state meet at 6:30
- between these appointments, I'll try to get some laundry and paperwork type things done, maybe clean the girls' bathroom. It sure needs it.
Oh - I need to go!! Have a great day all!

Re: Then There was Thursday. . .
That title's just fine, Helia!
Actually this particular Thursday I have to remember to text dgd19, a happy birthday. So proud of the young lady she's becoming. She's in nursing school and doing very well. DShelley would be so proud of her. DGS20, I think, is beginning to find himself. I see he's now 'interning' at the same college dgd is attending, in their sound department. Right up his alley. Know if he could find a job it would do so much for his overall self esteem. (This is the grandson who is legally blind.) He dropped out of college after a few months and ran through his inheritance from DShelley's life insurance in short order so we're told. Now he's having to climb up from life's lessons. DGD is using her share of the insurance (which we never even dreamed DShelley had, but should have. She was an assistant teacher and of course they had life insurance in their benefits/pay withholding.) Wasn't a lot as some policies go, but surely enough to give them a leg up. Of that Shelley would have been very pleased.
Dh and I are going walking very soon. Had very low (for me -72) blood sugar this morning and I'm trying to bounce back from that. Had breakfast and am now sipping coffee. Need to get going soon for dh -he likes to go very early.
Was going to try to meet up with a person from home. But, she is leaving for back north this morning. Surely not a good time to be going up there. Stay warm and free of electric problems all you Shes in the wake of yet another very cold spell. Dh said he was sure the reason a lot of trees did not come down in their extreme wind was the fact that they're probably frozen in the ground.

Re: Then There was Thursday. . .
Hi, everybody.
Lilac, are you getting excited about the trip?
Emptynester, thanks so much for that visual of Dakota rolling in the exciting new grass!
Elizabeth, sorry you missed the meeting! Can you call the person at the school and chat briefly?
BookSaver, do you suppose there's a little elasticity to the sponges and they move strangely when uncompressed? That would be a big draw for Tobias.
Ivy, I'm so sorry you are wrestling with some health issues for a while. Some of the coconut milks and maybe other types have added protein. You could always make a protein shake using those milks with a protein powder. Jay Robb chocolate is the one in my cabinet right now. Its taste is quite nice with a good reputation for healthy ingredients.
dd15 had worked for hours on her room the other day. Things were better, but I'm still going to give her some time today. We talked about how she'd feel if a friend came over to spend the night, a circumstance that might be coming up soon.
Volleyball practice was "crashed" by boys from the neighboring high school's team. Hmmm... ... Of course, there's more than one court, but I'm not sure how I feel about this. I thought the girl's team from our high school were reserving all the nets during that time period, but evidently that's not how it works. Dd and friend were laughing that one took off his shirt, several were trying to show off for the girls, etc. Again... hmmm... ...

Re: Then There was Thursday. . .
Helia, Oy! I'd say ... "and THEN there was Thursday, " like the earlier part of the week wasn't enough for me. This is a jam packed week: dr visit, hair appt, pedicure, vet trip for Moe, PT for Macs, meet with Rabbi (both tomorrow) visited dsis and participated in care plan meeting, tonight we have the neighborhood get together and I need to p/u meals for dmom and see her/do meds today and talk to a congregant about a fundraiser and tomorrow cooking a meal for a bereaved family (already in freezer) and delivering, and then off to ATL tomorrow evening to fly away on Sat morning.
I am feeling tired after visiting dsis yesterday. She might be a little better on some fronts, but was very easily winded by walking to my car to go out. I left at 7:30 yesterday morning, and didn't get home until around 8 p.m. last night - that included a stop at Costco for a return and some shopping.
Cleaning lady is coming today around noon so house will be clean for tonight...in theory I shouldn't have to do much but I always like fiddling with things... will need to put out appetizers and soft drinks, it's BYOB and most people bring a munchie too. Once cleaning lady gets here I'll take off to P/u meals, see congregant, see dmom and p/u just a few groceries. I bought trail mix and cookies last night and I'll put out a cheese tray with nuts, grapes and some dried fruit. Oooooh, and dh has mentioned how bad our back windows look (from GR and BKfast area) looking west in the evening....perhaps I should p/u a squeegee and see if cleaning lady will do those? Or windex and soft cloth...or what?
Other OMM stuff for today/tomorrow/before trip
-do I have time to squeeze in massage tomorrow? (massage therapist was out of town last week and rescheduled me to this week, I need to either cancel or call to confirm)
-pay electric bill for dsis
-temple bulletin - must write my column, plus give editor some other info to include
-info to dog/house sitter via email
-pack, I have no idea what to take but would have liked to have done a little shopping...
-what else?
Tomorrow I am meeting with rabbi at 8:30 and dMacs has PT at 11. We leave whatever time we want after work tomorrow, I don't know what dh's plans are, but doubt that he will pack before tomorrow afternoon.
Dakota was also on Facebook! What a pretty fur-child!

Re: Then There was Thursday. . .
Yes, it is Thursday. The second last day of the month. Does anyone else have major deadlines at month-end?
I'm up and on the treadmill. Dh had to skip working out this morning due to work assignments.
I'm watching Season 4 of Downton Abbey. I've done two of the episodes so far. Last night was the chilling incident with Anna. Even though I did other things after watching, it still came back to haunt me numerous times through the night so I had a very poor sleep. Very well presented on screen, but thank you very much, I'm a wreck whenever I close my eyes.
In response to posts from last night:
If we want the apartment we've been talking about we must take it for June 1, since it is empty now but they are willing to wait until then for us to move in. Our friends were looking at a July closing date on the house so that gave us a relaxed month to move in.
If the sale falls through, we have to sell on the open market and that takes 4 - 6 months from start to closing date (depending on how fast the house sells.) Yesterday we learned there is probably no extra money going with the agent. I apparently knew exactly what the house was worth.
The rush is that we need to start open market selling now so we don't have the additional expenses of this house at the same time as the apartment (not to mention that my budget includes income from the invested house sale funds to pay the rent.) Any delay in selling the house translates to lost days on the ship because the money has to come from somewhere.
All along I've been thinking I'd have until June 1 before the house was no longer feeling like my home. In other words, while things in cupboards would be packed away, my photos on the walls and furniture would remain. Now, everything that can be packed away now, must be packed away now. And things like laundry (remember, I dry over half of mine on racks in the spare bedroom) have to be carefully times to not interfere with showings. And we'll have to leave the house whenever we are asked to if there is a showing. Which is tough since it is year end and I spread all the paperwork out all over the place to work on that. Can't leave it out when the house is being shown.
I guess what I'm most upset about is I had a workable plan that took into account my energy levels, company year end, tax season and my preaching schedule and now it is being rearranged and everything must happen now.
I'm writing the agent today to tell her that we are meeting with our friends on Saturday to discuss the situation. Then we'll decide what to do and list the house next week, assuming she can give 3 weeks to get things in order. Between now and Monday, I'll work flat out on paperwork and preaching things.

The rush is that the house sale to friends may be falling through completely (it isn't a matter of time, it is a matter of finances. A financial matter they thought was closed has landed back in court again. So the credit rating they built up over the last 13 months in prep for the purchase is now blown. They won't know how badly until the end of March.BookSaver wrote: And I'm sorry, but I missed the reason for the rush to show the house right now. Is the timing that critical that a month or two would blow the whole thing? It isn't that long ago that you were really ill, is it worth risking a relapse from pushing to do so much in a hurry by yourself? Must you show the house before starting the move to the apartment? Feel free to ignore these questions that I know are none of my business. It's just that I was getting excited with you that you'd found an apartment you liked, but now that fun type of anticipation appears to be lost in the worry of meeting the new real estate agent's demands.

Would love to have SHE help. I did help Molly's Mistress when she had to pack up her basement and kitchen. It is just so overwhelming to do things on one's own. She didn't want to move so left everything to the last minute.Elizabeth wrote: A nice lady who is downsizing her house is letting the animal org handle the estate sale and keep all the money. Re: Then There was Thursday. . .
Frustration at doctor/hospital/family members in miscommunication. While HRH and dstepson were traveling home from hospital yesterday, call from other family members who had just gotten there, that doctor had called and left a message at our house for HRH to call doctor on his private phone, and that they had heard him make the call. Well, it certainly was not so. Sure enough, while we were all out a message did come in, but we can clearly hear the man asking a woman, "what's the number up here?" and we hear her voice answering in the background, and he gives a number into the phone. Well, HRH has called the number over and over and it just rings and rings.
Finally this a.m. I called the receptionist and asked her what she thought was going on. She says the number is for the nurses' station (sigh - the other family there obviously had no clue what the doctor was doing. Doctors don't give their own numbers out.) and that she can't imagine why we can't reach them, but she'll do it. Well, a long time passes. She comes back to tell me, sheepishly, that the phone at that nurses' station has evidently been cut off all this time. (What a thing to have to admit.) Anyway, she calls a nearby nurses' station and got us on the phone with someone who will have the patient's nurse call us back. That was 30 mins ago.
