From the Gene Wilder version of Willy Wonka:
LEGO Club today. I'm going to try starting clean-up 15 minutes before the end of the meeting. The kids should have the pieces they need for their projects by then so I can start gathering and condensing the storage containers. I can put away extra chairs, and get the vacuum out of the closet as a hint. It's time to get the club members used to helping with clean-up.So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. Thank you.
I ran into a snag yesterday trying to cut fabrics for sewing camp. Several of the donated pieces are directional prints -- meaning that I have to watch out how I cut them or the people and animals will be upside-down. Some of the pieces are not quite big enough, so I'll have to patchwork to combine. Not impossible, just takes extra time. I've adjusted my goal to having enough pieces cut to get me through the first day. I'll get up to cut more throughout the day tomorrow as I need breaks from sitting at the sewing machine.
We do pot luck meals during our sewing camps, meaning that the organizer sends an email with the menu she has decided and people sign up for what they will bring. I said I would make chicken salad for sandwiches, using our group's usual recipe which starts with a big can of chicken breast from Sam's. She wants the chicken salad for Friday lunch so I'll mix it up tomorrow night. I still have to buy the chicken, but I can stop there in the morning on my way to where we're meeting.
I'm not responsible for opening the building this time, so I don't have to worry about getting there before everyone else. I also won't have to stay at night until everyone else is ready to leave. What freedom!
