1st Day of Spring, Thursday

Post by Lilac »

Today is the 1st day of spring. What kind of weather are you having today, spring or winter? We are suppose to be 72 today, so that will definitely be spring weather.

Thanks for starting us off, Lilac! Enjoy your spring day!! It is going to be spring-like here too, at least spring as we do it in Michigan. It is currently very gray and 32*. We're supposed to get up to 43, though. With all the melting snow, it is also a muddy mess out there. Streets have been clear for days, so that is one good thing. I saw a patch of snowdrops the other day. Spring IS coming. . .We will have rather un-spring like temps next week, but that is par for the course for spring here. IMHO, after living here for 12 years, spring in Michigan can be underwhelming, one of the hardest seasons as residents are so eager for sunshine and warmth but winter just lingers on and on and on. . . .

WTG with your regular walking, Lynlee.

Dh has left on another trip, will be back tomorrow a.m. Girls are off. I'm off to get myself ready.

Today:
- moms group
- I need to exercise as I managed to avoid it completely yesterday; by the time I was seriously thinking about a jog, it had started to rain.
- dd15's rehearsal at 3:30
- perhaps a Target run
- continue with laundry
- other odds and ends

Not an overly scheduled day.

Lilac, we're supposed to hit the 60s today and tomorrow. In theory, there will be sunshine. :? This is the same theory from the last 2 days, though. Yesterday it was really disappointing to wait for it, wait for it... .. and still see none! I think finally reality will catch up with meteorologists' hopes today.

Glad Lynlee can report cooler weather and showers, too. That has to be pleasant. That's a good sounding board for the fence issue, Lynlee.

Elizabeth, sorry you had a see-saw of a job hunt day yesterday. Maybe it was worthwhile to have the contact, even though there was a mix-up this time.

helia, you had a packed day yesterday - not surprised to hear the jog didn't quite happen. You still had a lot of activity "under your belt".

Emptynester, are you getting flashes of inspiration for carving? :D Have fun.

Today I'll be spending extra time at my parents'/dd34's house and checking behind the boys ( ;) ) to see if there are some obvious chores that would help there. Also to see what seems to be needed before their next time here, 3 weeks away. I'll check on the cherry tree in the side yard, too, because I'd like to press a few of its blossoms this year.

The one leftover errand is returning clothes that didn't fit. That wasn't along my route yesterday. Want to check for another vitamin store in that direction, too, and maybe accomplish both today.

I awoke to the sun coming up and the mountains to our west turning pink! We're supposed to have a sunny day, finally, and high of 63 after being cloudy and overcast since Sunday a.m.

I need to get rolling - temple at 10 a.m. then dmom to doc at 2:15. Dh will be home tonight from trip but I don't know what time. Working at the desk yesterday I made a paper clutter mess on kitchen and DR tables. Would like to do a round of clearing up before he gets in, and before dcleaning lady tomorrow.

We are going to have two more glorious sunny days with 70 degrees temps before the next cold front hits. Yesterday the wind was calm which allowed me to put 3 more gallons of pre-emergent & weed killer on the yard.

Today I'll travel 4 hours to DSon's home. I'm planning my arrival between their happenings. This morning DDil set up an appoint for DSon to test drive a vehicle he thinks he wants to buy. DGS2 gets out of pre-school @2pm and DGS7 arrives home from school @3pm. So arriving about 1:30 will allow me to spend maximum time with them...counting backwards - that means I want to leave here about 9:30am. LO will be going with me and is very excited about playing with his cousins. This evening we will be attending DGS7 play/musical program at his school

Spring, ahhhh spring! Believe it's MamaP's birthday. So Happy b'day if you look in.

On our way to dbil/dsil's then on to meet Sunny & dh. I am excited. What I planned for dh to wear today is either in the laundry or up north already. So guess he has to wear what's here. bbl

Dee and Sunny, enjoy your "strawberry" meeting. We will be anxious to hear about it.

The first 2 days of cleaning at dd2's was the things you don't notice at a glance. Yesterday we made a lot of progress and it looked so nice. But there were still things that need to be done. She has about 2 stalls in the garage piled with garage sale things. She wants to do that next weekend. The boys came home yesterday. They always make such a big deal about how clean and organized things are at their ddad's. But they sure don't keep things nice at their mom's when she is on top of things.

Today dgs9 is now 10. I need to get a shower. I plan to be available so that I can watch the kids while she runs errands for the birthday party.

Guess I better head to the shower, after I iron something to wear.

Lilac, you always work so hard!
Wanted to tell MT that my 1DD has goiter on thyroid, has had it for probably close to 15 years. Every few years she has a little biopsy to make sure it hasn't "turned" and she takes medicine, but so far so good.

(Twins) you're doing everything you can for DSiS. She is getting the help she needs. Still, I know it is hard for you.

Elizabeth, wishing you success with your job hunt. You sure have been diligent at it. Lots of people just are satisfied to take their unemployment until it runs out. BWTG!

Spring here I guess. It's a cool one for us, only 73° and I guess that's good since the heat of summer is long long long.

DH went alone to his therapy, he has 2 more next week and then he's done. He's doing the exercises at home too. Had to do a big search to find the ankle weights for him to use.

Just paperwork so far today. Big invoice sent with huge attachment of pictures and forms scanned. I'm feeling lazy again, but at least I seem to be off my "Sleep Boat".

Too much news watching. Shut TV off. I so want them to find that plane.

Glad I ran the test message -- my IP was blocked so I had to reconnect to the internet. It saves a lot of frustration when it is blocked if I don't type up a long post and then lose it.

Thanks for all the thoughts about my thyroid. I am not worried as I have had tumors in it since 2001. I am just frustrated that the Dr. is so far away and keeps ordering tests.

The inspiration for carving, Harriet, is because Woodcarving Week starts Saturday and I haven't carved anything new.

Our spring is lovely here - lots of cacti in bloom and birds are building nests. The quail are gathering in clutches and there are new bunnies all over the park (much to my dog's delight - she chases but cannot catch them).

Just looked at the sun across the furniture and I'd better get out the dust cloth - I do live in a dusty desert, you know.
