Furthermore, on Friday

Post by Harriet »

Time to further our goals! The end of the week is arriving; time to reassess what was intended for the week and see how we can make sure the finish is as good as the start!

What projects or plans will you be able to take further today?

June 6 - it's the 70th anniversary of D-Day today. Lots of reminiscing in articles lately. Very interesting memories. Operation Neptune was the real name at the time, the landing operations on June 6, 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy. 160,000 troops landing along 50 miles.

Good morning, Harriet. I'm having a little trouble getting moving this morning. I need to make a grocery run and want to find purple balloons. Purple was our dShelley's favorite color and would like to release some today in celebration of her life -today is the 5th anniversary of her passing. Hardly seems possible. Need to contact our 2 dgks and reminisce a little bit. Know dgd19 is especially missing her.

Am also remembering Mystery today -she came from Cleveland, OH to Shelley's Memorial service and had on a long purple dress, representing all my dfriends here in Sheville. Don't know if she knew that was Shelley's favorite color, but will always remember her in that dress. I know she came back here for a while but it's been quite a while since she last posted. (Actually her last post was Dec 11, 2012).

See dh out mowing across the way. At least one of us is doing something. I got up about 7 and slowly woke up in the recliner. He's still sleeping in that till his mouth heals up a little more.

Will get drink so I can at least get my morning meds done. Then it's breakfast and the rest of my morning routine........

We are getting RAIN!!! I ran outside and brought the rain gauge in so I could clean the dirt and spider webs out of it. Then I dashed back out into the RAIN so the clean rain gauge could do it's job. I love-love-LOVE the energy that comes with a good rain storm! Including the lightening and thunder.

I recently read this recommendation....At the start of every day, define three outcomes you want to accomplish (not to-dos; actual outcomes). When you limit yourself to just three outcomes, you force yourself to prioritize and focus on what’s actually important.
Here are my outcomes I want to accomplish today -
#1 - FNG welcomed to our home, Bible knowledge increased and a good time had by all
#2 - Financial status report prepared with up-to-date assets/liabilities
#3 - Panty, freezer, refrigerator and fresh fruit/vegetables restocked.

Wow, Dee, it really doesn't seem like 5 years. Time does fly. I remember being so thrilled that Mystery made it since I couldn't.

I'm up and at it. Dh slept under the bottom sheet last night. He sleeps nekkid so I'm surprised he didn't feel the difference between the high thread count Egyptian cotton and the rough mattress pad but he claims it is proof of how tired he was! It was only in the morning when I went to snuggle against him and we couldn't get the sheet out of the way that we figured out what he had done. Reminds me of the time that toddler ds wet his bed so scrunched to the top of the bed, got cold and pulled out his pillow and slept in the pillow case!

Anyway, the bed is properly remade. It should be stripped and remade but tomorrow we are draining it and moving to the other bed, so I'll wait until tomorrow.

I have 15 minutes to eat my breakfast and get out the door to run errands. Wish me luck (hair is still wet.)

Today is a different sort of D-day in this house - decision day. This is the day the conditions get cleared for the house sale - or not. Since we are out, I'm leaving our cell numbers with the lawyer in case he hears something.

Dee, I miss Mystery Woman too! Hope you find purple balloons - that seems like several places would carry them.

OKay, you know I love small groupings when planning! Good idea. Dance in the rain today.

Nancy, if there was a paper that went along with that behavior award from camp for dgs, I would be tempted to frame it for him! He deserves appreciation. Hoping that other school years won't feel like such a "square peg in a round hole" years.

Elizabeth, glad you have a diagnosis, though of course it would be nice if it was nothing. You do want to know what you're dealing with and it's good drs listened to you about symptoms. I was thinking drs might want you to take a liquid multivitamin. Mine is high potency Whole Food called Source of Life and one form it comes in is liquid, found at most any vitamin store. I will say that it seems to have high acidity - it's supposed to be tropical fruit flavor - so I always take it with food. I notice other brands beside it on the shelf, and the vitamin store folks might know which ones are less acid-y. All best wishes to you as you figure out smart ways of eating and good nutrition in small meals.

Today is another "mini" appt for dd34, in which they may do an in-office ultrasound.

Dd went off to school wearing her oversize Aunt Bee t-shirt and sweatpants. The child is so fashion conscious. ;) It is her sports class exam day, so the outfit makes sense, and I pick her up early.

Didn't yet mention here a skippable rant that has affected our family lately
Automated phone message AND email from school over past weekend clearly stated there was NO early dismissal on any day this week and stated it again in the next paragraph - to remember NO early dismissal on any day, finals or not. The time for the usual year-long dismissal was even stated clearly. Well, they dismissed 2 hours early on Monday and we were taken completely by surprise. If dd hadn't happened to catch me by phone at home she could have ended up calling around for a brother or sister-in-law who might come and get her, waiting out in front of the school with other students for who knows how long. Early dismissal again Tues and today.

I'm very interested to read the weekly email this week, and whether there will be an apology or how they will state that on Monday there is another final exam, and another early dismissal to admit to! Thinking of students who don't have to contact parents, like drivers or car-poolers who ride with driving students, and all the bus riders. Wondering what the math might show on how much trouble all those teenagers, ages 14 through 18, could manage to get into in 3 days of freedom unknown to their families, 2 hours per day. Surprise! :(

We're always ready to 'listen' and to help where we can, Nancy. There's certainly a huge array of life experience here.

And while I'm on my 'soapbox' of life experience here, may I expound on a subject dear to my heart. Don't know how many of you know or remember that dShelley's ultimate cause of death was Sleep Apnea. She had had gastric bypass and lost a lot of weight and I'm sure felt she no longer had a need for her cpap machine. Her autopsy showed many holes in her brain caused, over time, by many deprivations of oxygen. She finally had an episode where she was not breathing too long, causing oxygen deprivation to her organs and slipped into a coma. She was in that coma for almost a week before we made that gut wrenching decision to remove her from life support. I say all this not to make any of you feel bad or anything BUT to urge anyone who has (themselves) or a loved one with suspected or diagnosed Sleep Apnea to please take care of it. I know several people who think it's a pretty harmless condition. Not so -it can cause many slow side effects over time. Do get it checked. End of sermon. :?

Yesterday was another day in which I wrote down my time and what I was doing. Funeral, pedicure, trip to temple to sign cks, meeting for religious school. I was somewhat productive in between most of those. :?

Today I'm doing desk day in between body work and then heading to temple this evening. I think I've said I'd prefer not to go right now but tonight is dh's father's yartzeit and we have also invited neighbors to go to services and the dinner afterward with us. They are Episcopalian but interested in learning more about Judaism. I think after dinner at the temple we're going out for drinks so we can talk further. Heavy socializing evening. Oh, and I'm making a loaf of challah for dneighbor who mowed our yard while we were away, and another loaf to split between us and dfriends. The wife was suddenly found to be terminally ill and is fading fast. Very sad.

Everywhere I look in my house I see a pile of things that I meant to take care of at some point. Straighten up, put away, organize, do over.

Gotta get busy with rest of a.m. routine.

Oh boy, I think we can all relate to that, Twins. I always have something that when I finally get around to actually doing it wonder why I waited so long as it was only an X-minute job! :? And I usually find that a small job left undone surely grows into something much larger.
