Suddenly Sunday

Time just rushes by and here it is Sunday, again.

Good morning, villagers ~
I had planned to spend most of the day yesterday at the library working with our LEGO supplies. I'm setting up a new game for Wednesday's LEGO Club meeting. I was starting to make some good progress at 11 when I received a call from DyoungerSis. I'm so glad I had the cellphone on and right next to me so I could hear it ring.

DMom fell in her apartment and broke her hip. She lives in an apartment building for seniors and every unit has emercency cords in the bedroom and bathroom. It took her awhile to realize that she was seriously hurt, but she was able to call the ambulance herself. She fell Friday at 10:30 p.m. and decided to call the ambulance yesterday at 3 a.m.

At that first call from DSis, they were waiting to hear from the surgical staff when they could fit her in, because they already had a full day scheduled. DSis said there was no urgency about my going up immediately, DMom had been through Xray, MRI, EKG, all the other tests, and was going to try to take a nap. DSis said if I wanted to come up that mid-afternoon would be plenty of time to get there, and she would call me back in an hour.

I finished the task I was working on right then, and left a big note on the rest of the mess saying there had been a family emergency and I would be back to put all the LEGO away. (I had been told that no one else would be in the library building all weekend.) Then I raced home to see if DH was up yet, told him what was going on, and threw some things into a tote bag. DSis called back to say surgery was scheduled for 3. DH and I went to the truck stop McDs for a quick lunch, then I drove the hour to the hospital.

Some of the earlier patient's surgeries took longer than expected, so they didn't take DMom down until just after 6:30. That was a really long time for DMom to lie in a bed and not move.

The surgeon said the procedure went very well. He made 3 small incisions to insert 3 screws to mend the hip, and he gives it a 90% chance that she will heal with no need for any further surgery. It all depends on the first recovery period of making sure she does not develop pneumonia nor any other infection, and then she cannot put any weight on that leg for 6 weeks.

It's going to drive her crazy being forced to slow down. Even though she will be turning 86 next month, she is used to being very active, going to exercise classes a couple times a week, and driving herself wherever she wants.

I got home after 10:30 last night. Lots of family said they were going to visit DMom today -- at least a dozen, maybe more -- so I told her I would wait and drive back up Monday. DSis will keep me informed with texts throughout the day.

I'm heading out now to go back to the library to finish my LEGO project and clean up my mess. I'll take a break to go out to lunch with DH, but will probably spend most of the day there. I don't know when I'll get another long block of time again. If I can accomplish all I want to do there today, that will set us up for the rest of the summer.

Oh it is a slowwwww morning for me. I was completely exhausted after the weekend. Got into bed around 11 and nearly asleep when dh came in. Wanted to talk. He was a little agitated because no one had called him to let him know how dgs14 made out at his big modified race. I tried to call him at least 20 times and DS-A had tried to call him =he shows no 'missed calls'. At any rate I post popped up on FB about 10:10 or so showing DGS with his first feature win. I immediately exclaimed, "WHAT?" It was DS's birthday so a huge birthday present for him. The trophy they gave him was really cute -a miniature gas can and he gave that to his Dad as a birthday present. Proud of him -but I still can't go watch. He did create a history marker -the youngest ever to win at a modified race.

Have to run some eggs over to DDIL. She's cooking for the "Clan".

Dee, I am enjoying a quiet morning so far. We are going to friends around three to enjoy their pool. I'm still feeling socially overwhelmed by attending so many events this weekend. Last night's wedding was lovely - large reception but poor job by the hotel where reception was held with food/beverages. Dance floor just getting going when we left about 9:40 to meet up with a friend who was staying here overnight on a trek from Chicago to South FL. We visited with him at the hotel for awhile then were off to home and bed finally. I got compliments on the dress I wore so that worked out well - glad I didn't buy a new dress for the occasion.

Ddogs are already walked this morning.

The house was quite clean and uncluttered on Thurs when dcleaning lady left. I need to fight my way back so there's not so much to do tomorrow.

♡We loved the meeting at the library ♡ the cafe' was closed. The library is new and seemed to really like having us. So we will be making plans to change the location of these mtgs. If they can let us schedule them in. Better lighting free we can bring food tables and chairs avilable, tv for teaching class & work shops no stairs elevator as well for up stairs with natural lighting.
Don't have to buy coffee etc. I could take my warping board and table loom even.

The group is growing ten were there some only stayed for a bit. It was a good mtg. I got my dush clothes stitched up.

Good Morning, Ladies! Suddenly it's Sunday and OH NO! I have things to do, which need to get done and tomorrow starts a new and very busy week for us here with our grandson and DH getting firewood M - W - F and then going out to do errands Tu/Th and out to eat, etc... Before we know it, Saturday morning will be here and Dgs goes home at 9 a.m. the 12th. Time sure flies when we're all enjoying ourselves.... But a SHE always has things "to do", right? I wrote a list last night, of 10 things to do by 5 p.m. and the report here, to get me MOTIVATED!

1- Record writing business expenses (It'll make the tax time job much easier!)
2- Read my e-book on Stress. (Dr. said to de-stress, so need to read this book. Started, but didn't get far.)
3- Write a pen friend, Laura, a letter.
4- Write an a.m. "to do" list.
5- Empty the DW (Is it legal if DH helps me do it? As long as it gets done?)
6- Dump trash from all waste baskets around the house.
7- Write DD a letter.
8- Make the bed better. (We always seem to throw back covers, it looks "messy" so I go back to make it pretty.)
9- Take a rest, somehow, somewhere in the house, there must be a place to rest for me today. Don't need to sleep.
10- Put hot spots out as I go today, in each room, so it's fresh by 5 p.m. and I'm a step ahead of myself on Monday a.m.

I got up at 1:25 a.m. to take my thyroid pill, then got up at 5:10 a.m. to take the Prilosec generic pill. I retired to the main office, to work on a long letter to a dfriend, then came out about 6:45 a.m. for breakfast. I need to go journal and have QT, although the TV is on, but I just tune it out. Dgs showered, is playing the XBOX 360 game and DH showered and is watching a.m. news. I got to see a Blue Jay take a bird bath and then he got out and kept squawking as if to say, "I'm clean! Do you hear me bird friends???? I'M CLEAN NOW!" I've never seen a Blue Jay in the bird bath before!

Nancy, I hope you get a good place for your meetings, perfect for you all.

Twins' Mom, You enjoy your friends pool. It sounds nice. Glad the wedding was lovely. Was it a Jewish Wedding? I've seen them on TV and in movies and LOVE it when they step on (I "think"?) the glass together and break it, inside a cloth, after vows. Do I have the right tradition? Anyway, I've seen Jewish Weddings on TV and the movies and they're wonderful, to me. Very holy and interesting. So reverent, quiet and really nice to see.

Dee, Sorry your morning's slow. I've been up since 5:10 a.m. I'm tired, too. I'm sorry your DH was a little agitated, about dgs14's race outcome. I wonder what happened to his phone? Oh, I'm glad FB had the invo for you. The trophy sounds so adorable! Oh, he created a history marker, too! That's GREAT! Congrats to him and your Dfamily, too!

Booksaver, What are your building at the library today? It sounds interesting. Enjoy! Sorry about your DMom galling and breaking her hip. I'm glad the surgeon said the procedure went very well. I'm glad he gave your Dmom a 90% chance of healing and no need for further surgery. Hope she stays pneumonia-free AND infection-free. Your Dmom is 2 years older than my Dmom, who turns 84 in August.

I must run now, to get my work done. You ALL take care and it's Suddenly Sunday is sort of a SHOCK! I think the 4th of July made our weekends speed by faster than normal and now- BOOM! It's Sunday!

FF, yes it was a Jewish wedding at our synagogue, including breaking the glass. I saw from photos on Facebook this morning that they lifted the couple up on chairs while dancing the hora - that's another Jewish custom also done at bar/bat mitzvahs sometimes. So glad we didn't go to church. Knew my tummy wasn't feeling quite right! Feels better now.

Drove over to DS-A's & DD's MHs to take eggs over. Now to remember to add them to my list. Dh brought DS-A back from their house. DS is so thrilled with the trophy DGS14 gave him last night for his birthday. Nice to see them all commiserating about everything that took place last night. (On an aside dgs also won $600 for his win. Nice for them to put back into the race car -it's a much too expensive sport for sure).

Dh is snoozing in the recliner. We'll need to get ready to go to anniversary party soon. Don't plan to stay too long as DS-A & family will be staying until this evening. At least things are clearing out a bit now so they have a little space over there. They're all going to the beach for a while and having an early campfire. DGS23months, started to walk between the cars and I said, "S......, where are you going?" "Wa-wa". Yikes! oh no you're not and there's also a drive to cross before the shoreline. They all got his attention diverted. But he is watched constantly. He does love the water.

I've been slowly getting the dishes done, but the bed is made and the RV otherwise looking fairly 'spiffy'.

((BookSaver)), how far is it to drive to ((your dmother))? This sounds like a very good prognosis. Vitamin D, Vitamin K will help with buoying up lung/respiratory health, and I'm sure she will have respiratory therapy, perhaps with the little contraption for breathing in and elevating the ball. I'm sure you have been so concerned, you're in my prayers.

Thanks for starting us off, Lilac. I guess I must have accepted that it was time for Sunday, since I was already thinking Friday was Saturday! Still - was I ready? Whole new question!

I have come home from church today with a song in my heart. Several kind expressions to me from leadership there, of appreciation. My fears about being seen in a negative light or losing friendships are past. My perception of my church as a true and real congregation trying to BE rather than to SEEM is restored, and HRH and I are not worried like we had been, so... many blessings.
