What's up Wednesday
So, what's up with all of you today? A movie theater on the other side of town is showing Mary Poppins; I think it closes today. There's an old-fashioned soda fountain around the corner from the theater, so we're thinking of taking the girls to both. Other than that, I need to get caught up on laundry.

Re: What's up Wednesday
Good morning, villagers ~
Hi, MysteryWoman! Did you see that I answered your question about LEGO Club in the Art/Craft/Needlework thread?
I've been up early typesetting and redesigning the membership brochure for the library group. I've heard people saying that we need a new form for 2 or 3 years, but we haven't had the budget to hire a graphic designer. I figure if we can at least figure out the text and basic layout, then it won't cost as much to have someone improve the appearance. However, I also question if it's worth spending any money on something that almost everyone will ignore no matter how nice we make it look.
I called DMom last evening and she is all moved into her new room at the hospital. She mentioned that she was worried that she was still in too much pain to do all of the exercises they said they wanted her to do, but a nurse told her that they will start with massage and other pain relief things before they get into the intense physical therapy stuff. DSis was able to go to the apartment to get some of DMom's clothes, which will make her feel better, too. I'll take a couple books for her when I go up either tomorrow or Friday.
This afternoon is LEGO Club. Trash and recycle bins must go to the curb tonight, so I'll do round robins this morning to find stuff to throw away. I'll also get the salad veg ready; I've decided on chef salads for supper because DH really likes those.
Lucylee ~ If the weekend event is a public performance of several bands, I don't see any reason why you and DH couldn't go, too, and be in a different part of the venue than the kids. I wonder if there is a way for you to talk this out with DH something along the lines of -- "It would be fun to go hear the band and see our friend be recognized. I think it might be nice to sit with friends our own age and relax. Who else will be going that we could meet there? DS & DDIL are planning to drive their own car, so we'll be free to come and go as we like on our own schedule." Don't let him talk you into carpooling, mention that the kids want to meet other friends at different times, or say that as much as you love love love dgs, you've been doing a lot of childcare lately and would like a little break. You may very well find out that he wants a break, too.
Re your DMom's church friend, I don't think you said anything wrong on the phone. Sounds to me like the friend was just checking in to see whether or not it would be ok to push the invitation for your DMom to come over to their house. You were able to reassure her that your DMom is starting to get out and go more places, but also a heads-up that she still has some health problems that sometimes cause last-minute cancellations.
All ~ A robot spammer has found us. If you see a name in the News & Announcements thread that you don't recognize, ignore it. I've been deleting the gibberish posts as I see them, but have not had time yet to refresh my memory on how to look up the spammer's ip address etc. to see if they're all coming from the same one. That's actually a really good sign -- we don't get trolls often enough for me to have memorized how to deal with them.

Re: What's up Wednesday
Today is pretty scripted for me. I was up at 7:10 and went for a jog with dh. Haven't done much since but toodle around on this machine.
In 35 minutes, we're all leaving to join dh and his work group at their get together today, some kayaking on the river followed by a cook out at the park. We're going in 2 cars, so the girls and i can leave early. This is scheduled to happen from 10 - 2.
Dd16 has drumline sectional meeting at 3; I will stop by the post office while I'm on that side of town.
Other than that - trip prep - emails. Pay bills. Maybe an errand or two. . . Dinner will be something simple from our freezer.
Hoping to get a p**p sample from Maia today for the vet. Nothing so far. . . Sorry if TMI. The joys of dog ownership.
I need to go s2s.

Re: What's up Wednesday
I am up sooooo late. I was awake from 1-7/7:30. Then finally dozed until nearly 10am. Now I'm dressed but need to wash my hair and go do at least one LOL!! Was going to do that yesterday but at least 2 neighbors were up there with their laundry back to back so knew it would be very late by the time I got to it.
Have to go shopping sometime today for a gift for dgs's b'day. Having a get together at DS-A's house on Friday. DDIL really told everyone, "Don't get him anything, he has enough stuff." But got to find something for him to open. A 2-year old needs gifts to open to make their day stand out don't they?
Dh and I went out to dinner last night to a place he wanted to try. He had stuffed pepper soup which I tasted -yum! And we both had "sides" of different macaroni & cheese dishes. We both brought enough home for at least 2 or 3 meals apiece. We had heard that they had several kinds of mac 'n cheese. Tis so. I had macaroni & cheese with broccoli. Think he had some kind of a combo. It was good too. Can't imagine what a whole plate would be. Waitress did say that there's 3 cups pasta in a side.
DD and dgs9 are here -gotta run.

Re: What's up Wednesday
Harrrumph. What's up with me is that I need to have a productive day of errands but am just wiped out by visit to dsis yesterday. I left here at 9:45 and was back home at 8:30 - that included a stop at the local DFC office yesterday in the town where the nursing home is located. Took her to peach packing house for ice cream, then she wanted a Coca-cola from Subway, then had to go to Dollar store for deodorant and a comb and finally a long ride for her. I'm put out because her deodorant and comb disappeared when they moved her to another room - after she and roommate got into it about dsis always wanting blinds closed in room, even tho her bed was on the side away from the window. She also reports that she hasn't had her prescription eye drops in two weeks, but she had only complained to one person. I know her extreme passivity and-self centeredness is part of her illness, but I just feel wiped out that she can't communicate her needs and I end up needing to "fix" it. Dh suggests I visit less often, but I feel bad that her dson, ddil don't visit. (They don't have transportation for the trip, ddil has been on bedrest for high-risk pregnancy, their car won't accommodate the entire family now that they have a third baby, gas for 400 mile trip is expensive also.)
Some OMM today:
-groceries
-mail dd's glasses to her
-Target return
-Petsmart return
-follow up with attorney re: dmom's will etc.
-guest bedroom prep - dcleaning lady will be here tomorrow so I can have her do some things for me
-WW weigh in, if I go? It's been an awful week. Will showing up to weigh motivate me or depress me?
-what else?
Right now:
-walk ddogs
-breakfast
-meds/vitamins
-clear kitchen counters
-straighten up Gr Room

Re: What's up Wednesday
Well, DH got into the shower before I could, so I started puttering around while waiting for him. Thus I am only now finished s2sing and breakfasting, and I'm not actually entirely done with breakfast -- I couldn't make my accustomed breakfast sandwich, being out of bagels (or even bread, except for the leaden multi-grain stuff that DH likes), egg beaters, [/i]and[/i] Canadian bacon. I've got tea brewing to ice, but I'm still peckish.
I will have to check out that thread, Bookie. I wish I could remember how long late dMIL was in the rehab unit after her hip break, but I don't suppose it would really be any guideline anyhow, given that it was about 13 years ago (DD was a toddler), and every break is different.
Very glad we don't have your heat, Nancy! And very glad you didn't let that woman with no shade have any chickens.
Quite the busy day, helia! Have fun kayaking! I will have to CUOP to see how the parade went for your DD.
(((Dee))) I hate those nights. Hmm... what sort of consumable can you get for a 2yo, so he has something to unwrap that will not add to clutter? I know -- candy! Sugar 'em up and leave 'em at home!
(((Twins)))
Tea iced, breakfast meds taken. Had a bowl of the girls' cereal, and that will have to do. Need to dig out my laptop before posting again -- typing on my phone is for beans! BBL!

Re: What's up Wednesday
Thanks, BookSaver. I've started tracking the same lil' ol' gibberish varmint shes been after
We're probably duplicating efforts, but she's done more clean-up.
Shoo, varmint, shoo. Small consolation, but a lot of sites have been having to shoo this one.
What's up?
I have a business-ish meeting today. The dwindling responsibilities from my dmother's twin's estate. That will be at the next town over. Dgirlcousin will have driven in for that. Afterward, it is possible that she and another dcousin will drop back by my house for visiting. That would be nice. But in case of that visit, I would like to spif things up around here.
((Twins' Mom)) Sigh. What a long day. Yes, it does sound like you need a family meeting. Dniece-in-law would be out of the picture for in-person visits for a while. Though surely as soon as the baby is gaining weight and strong, she will want to have a visit to your sister and get photos, etc. But if dniece-in-law has a way to have some childcare help, dnephew could have a better shot at helping you now with an alone visit. (And that would be very good for he and his mother - he needs to keep up his own "view" privately to get a handle on her needs for himself.) If he thinks it's hard now, just wait until baby comes, I would think. (??)
Could your children take one visit a month, alternating or together if it worked out? With a list from you of the things to check? Their visits wouldn't be as helpful as yours but they would be "someone different" - interesting for your sister - and they are pretty sharp, so the reports back to you would be reassuring to you. I wouldn't expect them to go out for ice cream - that's tough. Does your brother ever go himself or take your mother there himself, or is that just not going to happen?

Re: What's up Wednesday
What's up with me is freelance writing today, my 10 x 5 list, and getting my work done, etc....
Here's my list for today.
- Remake the bed (as always.)
- Dump the trash/get recycle out.
- Look at the Costco coupon book and make a list for DH for tomorrow.
- Put out hot spots. (When you keep them out regularly, there are fewer!)
- Load and possibly run the DW.
- Do LOL. (If I have enough for loads.)
- Read a co-writer's story.
- Dust the dining room, great room, and eating bar shelves.
- Wash toilets and sinks.
- Crochet on Dgd's afghan, so I can get the 15 Granny squares done in 1 pattern all finished. Then, it'll be onto the butterflies and butterfly squares, the butterflies attach to. ♥
It's overcast here, from an on-shore flow from the Pacific Ocean, but will burn off to be mostly sunny and 81* here today. DH and Dgs and DH's buddy will get firewood from 9 a.m. until about 12:30 p.m. or sooner, if they just get too hot.
(((Twins' Mom))), Hope you get some down time.
MysteryWoman, Thanks so much for today's opener! It's cute!
I'm glad we don't have your heat, too, Nancy. Hope the chickens get through it okay.
Helia, I went canoeing once, but never dared to try the kayak. Guess I'm not brave, like you are.
Dee, Sorry you got up late. Glad you got in a doze. I hope you get to wash your hair. It's nice that dgs's b'day's soon. Yes, I agree, how 2-year-olds need gifts to open. Their b'day will be memorable to them, that way.
Waving to Booksaver, Harriet, and Lucylee!
