STUPENDOUS SATURDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

Yes, Elizabeth, "Comet" as in "Mercury Comet". Think it's a '64. Dh's Mom was the original owner. The dealership in Lakeland, FL offered her a new car some years back if she'd let them have it back. Dh drove it to DGS2's birthday party, planning to leave it back with DS-A. But, DS wanted him to bring it back here for the rest of the summer.

That was SOME birthday party. DDIL#2 did so much prep work to make this party a huge success. DGS kept telling her he wanted a "Peter Pan" birthday party. She went all out and had all sorts of things about the yard related to Peter Pan. Unbelievable. Who knew she was such an artist? His most favorite gift? A $1.00 spray bottle from the dollar store.

Knew DS-A got a phone call during the party and remember him saying they were celebrating DGS's birthday. Dh told me later that the call was to tell him his assistant hockey coach (and some of the kids there from that same hockey team) had died of a massive heart attack. He did leave the party for a few and took the Comet out for a spin and I thought he was just enjoying doing that. He didn't want to let the kids know until later. Knowing him, he probably let them get a good night's sleep.

Oh, Dee, so sorry to hear of the coach's death.

The party sounds wonderful - such fun to have a party for youngsters.

I got out in the sun early today when it first peeked into my yard, for 5 minutes - something I read about having more energy through the day if you "set" circadian rhythm decisively with early natural light. We'll see.

Good for you, Harriet. I enjoy seeing the sunshine early in the morning -hope that gives me more energy too. Love sitting here and being able to see clear across the drives and the water. Doubt that will last past this weekend, but I'm enjoying it while I can. Had to go look it up, Harriet. So, does this have something to do with the 'light' alarms that Ivy has talked about -seems like someone else had that too. I remember thinking about getting one to help me arise at a better time -especially during the darker winter time.

DD and I are going to B est B uy soon to look at phones for dh. Hate to even think about it. It's way past time for an upgrade and his keeps shutting down or not receiving calls. Not good. This one he can clip on his shirt so he can hear it. Will have to find something that he'll be able to carry easily and will take some abuse.

Here it is - Saturday morning. Another fun-filled day at the puppy prison awaits

I didn't get much done after work yesterday. Well...not much off my list, anyway. I did get to WalMart to buy a new bike for DGS. Sometime between 9pm Sunday and 6am Monday, some #@^*& walked to within 5ft of their front door and stole the bike we bought for him last year! The new one comes with a lock, and will be kept in the garage whenever it's not in use. Then I dropped the bike off at DD's, looked after her two cats (they're away camping this weekend), loaded her dishwasher, and headed home. Once I got here, I managed to heat up some leftovers, eat, and do some of the dishes. Not going to beat myself up over it ... yesterday was a tough day emotionally.

Need to get my butt in gear this morning. I have to stop by DD's on the way to work. Normally, cats can be checked on once a day or so, food and water topped up, litter box cleaned. However, one of their cats is diabetic, and needs to have an insulin shot twice a day.

Here's my l*sts for today:

Before work:

- D2S
- critter care at home
- DD's critter care
- trash out
- swipe bathroom

At Work (other than regular work stuff:

- fill in zone calendar
- 15 minutes organizing cards (one of my breaks)
- finish sorting large stack of papers on my desk (some are work, some personal)

After work:

- 15 minutes weeding
- finish dishes
- vacuum living room
- 15 minutes decluttering
- first set of questions for Unit 1 (university course I'm taking)

Time to get this show on the road. Have a stupendous Saturday, everyone!!

Good morning all. Back from walking the dog. The sunrise here this morning was breathtaking! There were puffs of clouds all over the sky and when the sun hit them-they all lit up with a floresent pink. Really something.

Have to call and cancel old ISP. Really like the new one as my kindle is connected all the time. Now I don't have to stop and connect when I want ro look something up or ccheck the priceof a sequal.

I'm already an hour into my work day, and feel very disorganized. I did make some progress on my l*sts, but forgot my cards and zone calendars at home, so I can't do much on those two tasks. I can do some planning for the calendars, though. Oh well...I have plenty of "real" work to keep me busy between now and 6pm!

Before work:

- D2S - Done!
- critter care at home - Done!
- DD's critter care - Done!
- trash out - Done!
- swipe bathroom - Done!

At Work (other than regular work stuff:

- fill in zone calendar
- 15 minutes organizing cards (one of my breaks)
- finish sorting large stack of papers on my desk (some are work, some personal)

:D Good Morning, Village Ladies! :D

It's a sunny, warm, beautiful morning. It will be 92* today. I had written a 3-part 5 x 5 list, but the problem is, AFTER I wrote it, Dson called, to say he'll be coming at 1:30 p.m. with 10.5, 3, and 5 year-old Dgs's, so my lists don't "jive"with what the day's thrown at me. Like, I was going to clean the guest/bunny room and guest/main bathroom this morning. But since company of toddlers, etc... is coming at 1:30 p.m., Dgs-15.5 will still be here, using the guest room/bathroom, and I can't clean it. UNTIL after they all leave. :D

I downloaded some free e-books on Meditation, on my e-reader, read a little bit on different ones, last night, kept yawning, because all their talk of relaxing, de-stressing, meditating, etc... was SO relaxing, it about made me fall asleep. I DO love 1 meditation teacher's idea of keeping a meditation journal. She said to write the date, time, where you are, what you see, how you feel in body, mind, and spirit. She explains how you "zero in" on physical or emotional pain, you have a record to notice patterns, and it sounds like a wonderful idea to me! So I got out a beautiful new journal for it, as my current journal's last pages are quickly filling up.

MT, your sunrise sounded so gorgeous and relaxing. :D

Bittersweet, "Puppy Prison," is a cute term!

Dee, I'm glad you have that view you see in the morning. It sounds so pretty. :D :D Sorry about the coach's death, too. :(

Harriet, Your idea of early sunshine sounds nice. It's a good idea and thanks for sharing! :D

I did remake the bed, picked up all things I want little "toddler hands" not to handle, put them in my office. DH put his 2 new books off the coffee table and put them up. He also put all the little cat figurines off the TV stand shelves up, the bug spray into the pantry, and he put the fireplace matches up, too. I put away lip balm, my row counter, a mg of crochet hooks, scissors, another mug of pens and larger scissors, a few journals, post-it notes, books, a lantern that's glass, etc... So we're ready for the toddlers to come now.

DH will get the mail about 1:15 p.m., since Dson's not coming until 1:30 p.m. I hope there is good and happy mail, too. I don't have enough clothes to wash laundry, but when Dgs leaves, I'll wash up towels. I picked up med packets for Gas-Ex and Benadryl and put them away, in the kitchen cabinet, rather than have them on the counter, I pushed back other things, will put my glass bunny weight away, which is on my calorie counter book, to keep it closed. I'll put my daily medications container away, too. I got my needles, which I put into crocheted CD coasters, where I crochet by my chair, away, too. There is nothing like toddlers on the way, to get a house de-cluttered and hot spotted a. s. a. p.!

Morning Ya'll...

I am focusing on getting ready for my trip. Working on laundry, then need to spend a few minutes cleaning up the kitchen...I'm ready to do it now but Sweetie's putting his breakfast together so I have to wait till he's finished...then I will color my hair.

I will "pack" my stuff either today or tomorrow so I can see what I need to leave out of my suitcase. Hard to anticipate the weather as I see there is a cold front moving in from middle of the country. That means it will hit NJ about the time I get there...so I will need something besides t-shirts and shorts to keep me warm. Will be wearing capris and a 3/4 sleeve length shirt on the plane and will be carrying a light sweatshirt with me so I think I wll be OK. The airports, especially Newark, are always very cold.

My albums are almost finished...just have to glue in my paper indexs to the inside front of the pages. I photo copied the original album front and index page...they are over a 100 years old and used them for my new albums. That took some doings to make them fit properly but my classroom experiences of making Valentine and Mother's Day cards really came in handy. I'm a wiz at "cutting and pasting" to make what ever I need the right size...Can't use a ruler to make the right sizes I want, but I have a really "good eye" for how things should look.

I am having a lot of OMM stuff running around in my head, but have a notebook out to jot things down as I think of them. Will do a house blessing later this afternoon of maybe tomorrow morning...what to leave it in good shape for Sweetie.

I want to leave Monday open with everything I need done before hand. That way I can spend some time with Sweetie without having to think what else I need to be doing.

OK...can tell Sweetie is finished, which means its my turn to flip the laundry and work on the kitchen. Frances the First...my beta fish...needs a clean home. He always seems so happy after I do that. Norma loves him by the way. She loves to talk to him and watch him swim...thats always good for a smile

I had linked the article in H and F but here is the applicable paragraph.
The sun's rays will provide a boost to your circadian clock that should solve your afternoon slump—if you time things right. "The key is adequate exposure to sunlight very quickly after you wake up in the morning," says Michael Terman, Ph.D., a professor of clinical psychology at Columbia University medical center. "As you move into the middle of the day, the same amount of light exposure doesn't affect the circadian clock at all."

There's no explanation there of how much time to spend in early sun - how much is "adequate". But I believe I've read elsewhere that the time could be minimal. This works in my yard in July, with rays hitting about 8:00 a.m. But in January/schoolyear, not so much - I would have been up a long time before actually seeing the sun.

HRH reminds me that I come from a long line of nappers since my family are multi-generational dairy farmers. (With two work-times, very early and very late, and a free midday, dairy farmers are often teased about napping.) So maybe I shouldn't fight it. :?

Good Morning!

I finished well the first 3 hours of my day (Exercise/LOL/DW/Breakfast cooked/served/garden/prayer/shower/D2S/CFO). Then LO and I participated in a kiddie marathon. This is the 4th kiddie marathon LO has ran and he is hooked. He enjoys the high energy and the overall whole marathon experience.

Afterwards we walked the aisles browsing the booths at a farmers market. Found several healthy treats & bought a few homemade items (soap & food). Then we went to grocery store, bank and MPB before finally making our way back home.
