Re: Thursday's thoughts
I had posted too, Kathryn, must be same time as you. Like your title better however. My thought is to tackle the office today. It's 'full'. Was going to put our suitcases out in the garage, but very soon will have to repack them, so guess they'll stay inside.
RamblinRose, I just finished ordering a hipzbag. Trusting it will serve me well on our upcoming cruise.
This is the only place I can actually talk about that as we're planning to surprise dh with it. I do find myself becoming somewhat anxious about the thought of going out on the sea. (I'm not good on water, but it's also not my first cruise.) Last one was in 2009 and dh and I both froze through almost the whole trip. Of course it was an extraordinarily cold winter even for Florida.
Tummy's in a little bit of a revolt this morning. Questioning whether to have a cup of coffee or opt for tea this morning.
My fan on this laptop is sounding rather noisy to me. Wondering if it needs cleaning but not sure how to go about that. Perhaps I'll wait for dd to get home.
Speaking of dd, she goes for a different teaching interview on Monday afternoon. Her co-teacher told her about the opening (as much as she doesn't really want dd to leave her present position). Co-teacher decided not to apply as her son is going to this school and she wanted time away from him (he's been going to their present school for the past 9 years and is now in high school.) DD isn't sure she knows all the material but she does have the basic knowledge and is certified in "Solid Works" -a big part of this course. Happens to be at the local airport. Would be a further drive but it would also allow her to slow down a little bit. She's been given a huge recommendation from the director of this program, so who knows. They know that she's a really good teacher and could teach about anything -even if she has to learn some of it along with the kids.
Off to breakfast. BBL
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Re: Thursday's thoughts
I need the mental and physical space to write a sermon and service today. Worked a bit on the service and intertwining the gospel reading with the events of yesterday. Our Moderator (symbolic leader of the denomination) put out a beautiful prayer yesterday that will form part of my prayers. He's a poet and I love so much of the work I've seen from him. And I get to meet him next month! (He's coming to the spirituality and the arts workshops that I'm helping with.)
My current minister is also struggling with what he'll write for Sunday. He prepared the rest of the service yesterday and I can see that it is heavily influenced by the day's events. I've emailed my minister friend who works weeks in advance to see if he's sticking with his work or throwing it all out and starting over. The closest active combat training base to our city is in his community so the attack on the military will be rawer there (for instance, military personnel are advised not to wear their uniforms unless on duty.)
Dd is coming over today. I'll hear how she and dsil were affected by yesterday's events. I have no idea when he was able to come home due to the lockdown plus all the buses were overwhelmed (some people's cars were parked in lockdown zones but they were told to leave so had to leave their cars behind.)
It was a long day yesterday. Dh remained locked in his office and I gave only brief updates. Even so, he fielded a steady flow of emails from friends and our NZ client, their Parliament (dh is working on the system that produces all NZ legislation) were on high alert because of what happened to our Parliament.
I'm envious that dh can compartmentalize his mind that way and be aware of what is going on but completely immerse himself in something else. I could have done that if I was nursing someone or doing day care, but left to my own devices, I was useless and sucked into the news cycle (although I used only radio and kept the sound off on the TV since I find the talking heads on TV even more idiotic than the talking heads on radio.)

Re: Thursday's thoughts
Didn't want to swim today so am impatiently waiting for a time when I can have breakfast. I love swimming on hair wash days because the showers at the Y are so much nicer than my shower at home (even though I have to pull out all my bottles and arrange towels, etc.) But I only wash my hair every second day so to have to go through the effort of drying it after a swim is too much for me to bother with.
I've had tea and chocolate (I can eat just an hour after a pill but nothing with calcium, magnesium, iron, or zinc) and should go get dressed now.

Re: Thursday's thoughts
My thoughts this morning was - "Why is that alarm going off?" I had to look at two clocks in order to believe that I had slept 2 hours later than normal. The alarm to wake LO up got my eyes open for sure!
Last night LO's first Karate belt test went much later than I expected. It was very physically and mentally intense. There was a mixture of belts going through all the exercises together. The colored belts were held to a higher standard than the white belt (beginners), but they all went through it together. Finally after 3.5 hours of exercises the white belts passed and were released to leave. When we left the colored belts were just getting started on sparring.
I gave LO some Tylenol when we got home to help with the sore muscles and then had to get up again around 2:30am and give him cough medicine. I wasn't expecting LO to be chipper and ready to go this morning, but he was. Youth. They recover so quickly!
Sooo.....I'm starting my day 2 hours behind my normal routine. I'm glad my body got the sleep it obviously needed though. So it is all good.

Re: Thursday's thoughts
I also slept in this morning. I don't know if I have a cold coming on or the issue is the fragrance I switched to yesterday but I had a stuffy nose and trouble getting to sleep. With the CPAP, I can't mouth breath. Around midnight, I got up and took a benydryl, figuring it would help me sleep and help with the stuffy nose. Also, dh helped me by rewrapping my splinted finger last night and got it too tight so I was aware of it during the night and finally got up and slit the stretchy wrap on top where it was tightest. Doesn't seem to affect the stability much (it has prongs that wrap around the finger) so I'll go with it for now.
I have a hair appt at noon today so need to get rolling. I scheduled the hair appt figuring it would give me a little boost while my face heals up.
It was almost time for some highlights and a cut anyway.
-breakfast and meds
-brush teeth, clean up, get dressed
-walk the dogs
-kitchen and breakfast bar counter clean up
-make the bed
After the hair cut and color, I need to p/u meals for dmom and visit. Dh has a 5:30 meeting so I'm not cooking dinner tonight.

Re: Thursday's thoughts
9-10am CI ....which is mostly what I normally do 5-6am
** Kitchen opened - coffee made, water bottles filled for everyone, vitamins out for everyone, DW emptied
** Treadmill time
** Healthy habit spreadsheets updated, digital cards updated, monthly goals reviewed & updated, menu plan reviewed,
** Breakfast served
Checked on Washer/dryer that are SLOOOOWLY crossing the states. They finally arrived in our state (big city) but can't be delivered until a week from today. Ugh.....
I thought being without dryer for months was bad enough.
Then I thought it was bad to be so difficult to find a washer that would do what I want.
Then I thought it was bad to take so long for delivery after FINALLY finding and ordering the set. Purchased on Sept 29th.....scheduled for deliver Oct 30th.
BUT NOW I'm dismayed because the *new* house is set up for front load washer/dryer. They have a platform built and utilities raised. REALLY? I just bought top loading washer. Argh!!
How can I possibly make having a working washer/dryer any more difficult?
Also visited with DBro when he came to check cattle. Told him putting an offer on the house and gave him heads up that we would be putting out place on the market in about 2 weeks if offer is accepted & it passes inspection. DBro said he would get his cattle off our place this weekend. No hurry! He said the steers are already sold but need to gain some weight before he can deliver them. He will put them in a lot at his place to limit their movement and feed them cubes/grain to put the weight on quicker.
For those not in the cattle business......it is CRAZY how much they have gone up lately. A steer that used to cost $400 now cost $1300 to buy. I guess the meat market reflects the end-of-the-line price increase to everyone....but it also happens at the front end too.
Next up - Cards that I normally do between 6-7am

Re: Thursday's thoughts
Went to W mart & picked up a few needs (and not so needed). Bought an air duster for my laptop. Think the fan is getting noisy. Will ask dd to help me get everything backed up -in case I have to take it in for service.
