Sweet Sunday

Post by Sunny »

How can we make this day Sweeter not only for ourselves, but for our homes and others in our lives? We can make our own lives sweeter by serving healthier meals for ourselves and our family, by taking care of our homes better so living in them becomes easier and being nice to people we meet outside our homes makes their lives Sweeter.

As we come to the end of the year we make plans to ready our homes for the coming holidays which also includes planning for our families, friends and helping others.

My Sundays are mostly family days. Weekly chores are done so I can concentrate on planning for the coming week and visiting with my family.

I wish everyone a Sweet Sunday.

I have done my qt & journal. We have a bit of rain here just a drizzle not bothering the hens.
Snow & colder temps later on in the week. I am thinking what I need to do to winterize roll up hoses, get crock pots ready for hen wayerers stuff like that.

Apple cinnamon flavored cake donuts for our sweetness today.

Thanks for getting us started, Sunny!

I was up at 5:45 to get dh to the airport, went back to bed when I got home and got up around 9 and read the paper and puttered, then slept some more. A very lazy Sunday here after a busy day yesterday. It was the bar mitzah of the son of dfriends and in between the morning service and evening, dh had a client event and went the local college football game. We were probably home around 10 p.m. last night - very good party with lots of energy.

So I need to eventually do some things today - at least get out of pajamas and walk the ddogs!

Lucylee, yes, I thought of you when I saw parts of Auburn's game yesterday! So sorry, at least it wasn't the drubbing it looked like early on.

It's sunny here today, I got 11 hours of sleep, DH is watching football, and I just wrote a letter to DD. I might work on snail mail today, as I owe some letters, and want to write a few more out, too.

I have my Holiday Journal-Home Journal Combination out. I want to write out my chore lists for the week in it today, so I can get "going" on things. I'm wanting to decorate for Christmas early, too, prior to Thanksgiving, for a change, because after Thanksgiving, things get so "crazy-busy"!

It's so nice to see sunshine here today. It's so beautiful when it shine. If I get tired of football, I'll go into another room to listen to music for awhile. So far, so good. I like the football just fine.

Sunny , Thanks for the opener to our day here today, too! :D

Twins' Mom , I'm glad you got some more sleep, after taking your DH to the airport.

Nancy , I need to go have QT now, too. I immediately wrote DD a letter, oops, instead of QT. I just forgot, needed to tell her some news, etc... Time got away from me, but I WILL DO IT! I try to honor renewing Spirit on Sundays, too.

Waving hello to Everyone whom arrives after me today, too! I'll try to BBL. Have a lot to do to plan the week ahead out, too, especially on my chores list pages in my Holiday Journal-Home Journal. CEO has super print-outs at her site!

I don't know how "sweet" it has been, but I did make myself get up and go to church this morning... unlike the rest of my family. :P
Oh -- and those cookies dh brought home for me were very sweet -- and delicious! (They are chocolate chip pecan, with one half dipped in chocolate icing. Mmmmm...)

Just about talked myself into an anxiety attack last night, trying to tell FelineFriend how much I understand what she is dealing with. (Don't feel bad, FF, it's not your fault -- I can do this very easily.) And I stayed up really, really late, just playing Solitaire and waiting for dh to get ready for bed.
-- I was for Auburn, btw -- answered that last night but don't know if you saw it.

And then today, dh told me that ddil said if she turns down the "PRN" calls to come in to work, which could come at any time -- like they could call her at 3:00 a.m. and want her to come in at 4:00 a.m. -- and if she turns them down 3 times (in a year? I'm not sure) then she will be terminated. Ugh. As dh said, what she was doing was much better than THIS! Plus, this means if ds is out of town, which is almost always on weekends, she could be calling US on a moments' notice like that to babysit. Just praying all this works out.
Daunt says we have a cousin whose dil does this at another hospital, and she only works 2-3 days a month. Maybe that will be how this turns out for ddil here.
Talk about anxiety...

Thanks for the kind words, Twins, re: our ball team. Yeah... I guess it could be worse -- we could have been beaten 36 points, if things had continued the way they were at the half. But I don't know if that would be easier to take... somehow, when you come sooo close... and then * poof * it's over, and ending w/two fumbles like it did...
AND then that Other Team WINNING like they did. For goodness sake... if we were allowed to interfere repeatedly with our opponents' receivers like Some Teams, we'd do better, too. (I'm imagining that Twins is thinking, how true... and RR is thinking, oh no, that wasn't the way it happened, lucy's just seeing it through orange and blue glasses. ;) )

But the sun did come up again this morning, beautiful day here actually, and I've been to church, read the paper, taken my nap, taken my allergy shots, written a check to the paper man and washed lunch dishes. (Soup pan that won't go in the dishwasher.)
Last night I also put away a load of clothes that had been hanging to dry in the bedroom for several days.
Tomorrow is another day.

Good afternoon dfriends!

It is a beautiful day, mid 70's and the very slightest breeze. I have been outside all afternoon. I trimmed the 4 boxwood bushes that are on the alley side of the fence. They used to grow together, through the fence and they kept blowing trash prisoner. Dh cut them to the ground 15 or months ago, before we had the fence replaced. I vowed then that I would keep them trimmed, shaped and around 18 inches or so, high. I have managed to do that. Then I mowed the yard and picked up trash that was around the dumpster. Before I take a shower, I need to vacuum the sunroom. The floor is dusty.

The guy probably has 80% of the fascia and soffit done. He will be back tomorrow to finish it. They sub out the guttering and they are suppose to be here tomorrow, also.

Starting Tuesday and for at least 4 days, our highs will be in the 30's. Brrrr.... I am thinking that on Thursday, I should empty my deep freezer and set everything out front, while I am defrosting the freezer. The entry area is 11 ft. X 24 ft. and covered. It has a ceramic tile floor. By doing it while it is so cold, I shouldn't lose anything to thawing. It will be a lot of work but has to be done.

Yesterday dh said he felt about 80%. Today he is probably 25%. He did absolutely nothing but take his meds, rest and drink plenty of fluids. Even when he is at work, he is just in his office working on performance reviews and not under any stress. He is finding out that he really messed up when he didn't go to the dr. 5 weeks ago instead of 2 weeks ago. I told him that this should be a lesson, so that when he retires he will get to the dr. sooner than later.

Yesterday dd2 and I went to the town 50 miles east of here. Her dh said that if we were back by 1 pm, he would watch the little girls. We went to Bath and Body Works. Then onto lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Midway home is a small town with an old fashion fountain at the pharmacy. We love to stop there for Vanilla Dr. Peppers. We were home ahead of 1.

I have a roast in the crockpot and it smells yummy.

Guess I better get that sunroom vacuumed and then take a shower.

Lilac , It sounds as though everything's coming right along. :D It's nice to "see" you again, too. I love your lilac avatar. It reminds me of Nana's lilac tree she's given me, years ago, and how fragrant it is in the late spring - early summer, how my nose/sinuses don't like IT, but it's so beautiful.

LucyLee , Isn't it terrible how we "can" talk ourselves into an anxiety attack?  It plays havoc with my sleep, DH doesn't like to hear a "broken record" either. I'm trying to respect where he's coming from, write in my journal instead, email someone, post or write a letter, to break that cycle. I heard once, how when we get caught into something, which is bugging us, we can ruminate on it, which makes our mood cycle down, to the pits, negatively, into a spiral down-down-down. On the Internet, there's good info on how to break the ruminating cycles, too. Your playing solitaire was something positive, IMHO, to help that cycle. I think solitaire calms us because we need to use our minds, it repeats, and then calms.

Nancy , You lead by example! :D I got in my QT, journal writing, etc... later than usual- but I DID it!

Towels are drying, dark clothes are washing, I'll try to do whites/pastels, too, and that will be a LOL catch-up for today.

I was working on my Holidays Chores list, told DH about it, he suggested my not writing 4 stories a WEEK, but try 1 per week instead, because for 3 days, I was a basket case, and suggested I didn't need the pressure of doing so many stories and sending them, in one week. I told him he's write. He thought nothing's wrong with working on stories by hand, during the week, to save to send in once a week. I've been competing with a co-writer, who HAS to write for a LIVING, I don't, because of S. S. for DH and me, each, DH's pension, etc.. I told DH this is a good thing because it gives me time for self-care, reading, the house, family, friends, the Village, pen pals, crochet, and those are a lot of things I enjoy. If I was writing and sending off a story every 2 - 3 days, I'd be so busy, I wouldn't be able to enjoy those other things, which bring me so much comfort and joy, peace, and it's therapeutic, fun, and worthwhile. Good clean school girl fun, too. So I decided to lighten up the writing work load, to have time for other things. I need to be good to myself. :!:
