Is there a light bulb in your home to change or a fixture that could use some attention? Maybe some dust and deceased bugs to shake out of there (shake , shake, shake) to brighten the place a bit?
Is there a crevice, a corner, a cubby that could use a flashlight beam and a bit of investigation? Hmmm... ...
No doubt a dust-bunnie hidey-place could use some exposure to the light?

Just finished doing the dishes and picking up some. Now going back for a round robin in the dining, living and entryway areas. Dh just got back from our church men's monthly breakfast and going to his db's to help with a water heater and to check out their electric fireplace (again ) Helped them learn that it helps to turn up the thermostat! (Ya think?)
I'll be back. Trying to get things ready for gd16 and her family to come for dinner tomorrow. Wanted to get a few more things done in her old room now dsonil's art room so that it doesn't 'look' like her room any more.
Finding myself more and more anxious about our upcoming cruise. I'm sure if I could stay home, I would. Then I got a notice from American Express today that dh has a new card coming in a few days. His old will only work for a few days after this one's sent out. Unfortunately it'll go up home & then be forwarded down here, so I'm afraid it won't arrive until after we leave. Hoping this doesn't mean his card won't work after we're out to sea.
Busy day here, but I'm off to a leisurely start. I think I need that after my Thursday and Friday. I was out of the house yesterday for over 10 hours; one hour in the a.m. and then from 1 pm - 10:15 p.m. straight. I also tutored in my home for an hour yesterday morning, which means I was at home and able to work on my own stuff from 7:10 - 9:10 a.m. and then again 11:45a.m. - 12:45 a.m. - and I needed much of that time to finish grading, prep, and create a quiz. Thursday, I was out 8:30 a.m. - 6:10 pm with 1/2 hour home in the middle. And then I was hosting S and R for dinner for about an hour and a half in the evening while dh was out at a work-related dinner. . . . I did have 8 pm onward to myself.

- prepped meds for Pepper's morning feeding
- drove to airport in big city to pick up ds; he'll receive an email today saying "aye" or "nay." He is now more interested than he was before. --He just got the email! They would like to have him! He's going to think about it for a while first.
- went through beef bourguignon recipe and put ingredients on the groc. list
- watched some funny videos with ds and dd16.
Still to do:
- groc. store run
- make beef bourguignon
- clean the house. It's not in bad shape, actually.
- visit (briefly, I hope) with friends who are buying one of our old cars. They are from the UK, here for 2 years. He is working w/ dh on a joint project. She went with me to the church moms group 2 weeks ago but couldn't go this past week. She's hoping to join us this coming week though!
- set up for small group: leaves in the table, set out dishes and silverware, etc.
- host small group 5 - 8:30-ish
- finish grading 2 quizzes
- post weekly grades and attendance
Exercise would be good, but I don't see it happening. Dh is just back from his weekly long (12 miles) run.
I'm also thankful that the database error we had was mended easily. Learned more stuff today.
If you didn't get the "SHE board is down" or the "SHE board is up" message, please update your email in your User Control Panel. There are a number of SHE regulars whose emails are bouncing (LILAC - I'm looking at you!) We keep two email lists - the one that is automatic through phpBB and the second is at our gmail account. I'll admit I haven't been updating the latter but the village emails have at least 7 bad email addresses. And that doesn't include emails that I send to accounts that aren't checked regularly (Kathryn-in-Canada's for example!)
I don't know when the boards went down. I went swimming first thing this morning so didn't power on my computer and try to get in until moments before LM let me know there was a problem.
It will be a busy day today, since I'm just finishing my breakfast now. Choir is in 90 minutes so I have to leave within the hour. The car says it can go 49 km and it is 35km to the church (and the general store is another kilometer down the road.) Dh says he's feeling confident we'll make it. (Shaking head...)
Next up: go over the music I'm to be learning. I've missed the first 2 practices so am starting from behind.
helia, I believe we knew ds was going on a trip because he picked up a suitcase, but what is this potential acceptance for? I'm sure he'd be an asset anywhere.
I shined up the chicken's waterer! Also antisepticked it. (That's a technical term, lol)
Dd said to me : "I apologize in advance for all the disappointment you are about to have."
And then she went to clean her room. Again. Now piles are everywhere. Again. I did get her directed to only the bedroom areas for sorting this time, and she now admits that if a visitor comes we should not just automatically trip them, but give them a fighting chance. Her method these days seems to be complete abandon for a week followed by frantic weekend cleaning.
She has decided to miss an engineering event today, which will be held in the mid of Big City. I certainly don't want to do it either. Cold (very cold) city streets are not welcoming right now. We will also likely miss a baby cousin's first bday party.
I do have errands - nothing for it but to brave the world at about 2, I guess, to try to catch the warmth of the day.
Harriet, thanks for asking! Ds got an offer for a summer internship with MS in Boston. It is in R & D, but it doesn't sound very research-y. Apparently, his internship last summer was also in R & D at the company in Austin. It also seemed very different from the R & D group dh ran when he was in the corporate world, so maybe the semantics of that term is changing? Anyway, ds is happy he got the offer but is not immediately jumping on it. He's still planning to email a certain prof here (the only one here in the area ds is interested in. . .) re: possibly working in his lab. That could happen during the school year rather than the summer.
I have not done much since I last posted except eat lunch with the family and clean up the kitchen. It is now 12:41. I only have 4.5 hours to get my list done. Dh doesn't think we need to vacuum b/c of the Roomba. I disagree. . . We can spot vacuum, though.
Now before I forget again - Happy Belated Anniversary to the special couple Harriet and HRH!
I am really laughing about your dd Harriet. All of a sudden my life many years - like many many years _ ago flashed before me. My dsis and I shared a bedroom - a very small bedroom. UGH! Every Monday morning she would start early trying on clothes for the day - and I do mean "clothes". Outfit after outfit would be discarded onto a red leather chair we had in the corner. By Friday I guess you can figure out what it looked like. Nada in the closet and the chair stacked to the ceiling. I hadn't thought about that for years. Think I am going to call her right now and tease her a bit.
I am fighting a cold - have been for the whole week. It started with a slight scratchy throat and now is the coughing part. It will last until I get to AZ on the 1st of Dec. and then as usual will get better. I do this every year. I have a lot to do to get ready, but I think today is a rest day so I can get to feeling better.
