I don't know how conga I will be doing today - I may be sick. Stomach is "off" this morning and have had the "runs." (Sorry TMI.) I'm supposed to be making soup and challah to take to temple tonight, however I wouldn't want to eat anything that came from a sick person's house.

Not sure whether to assume sick and call and bow out or try to plow on through...dcleaning lady will be here today also.

Twins, assume sick, bow out claiming you don't want to spread things. You could say you aren't sure if it is food poisoning or flu but don't want to assume the first and then spread the second.

Frustrated.

My tablet updated to the latest version of Android and all my paid apps are gone and I can't get email either. It asks me to sign into Google Play Services but there is no way to sign in (and I am already signed in according to the system.)

I'm doing a factory reset now. Sigh...

Oh, it also claimed I was too low on storage to do anything. I have 25 of 27 gigs left on the tablet but that wasn't enough to run properly!!!!!!

49* - 52* today's temps. With rain for the next 4 days here for our forecast.

Woke up at five-ish on my own today, glad I went to bed before the show I was watching was ovwr it was good but I ran out of steam. Happy to saw I got wool picked & teased up. Some needs to dry a bit more it was good on my hands.

Coffee is on. Time to journal s2s ect and get on with my day. Happy Fri. Everyone.

Kathryn, that's beyond strange - techno-drivel.

Nancy, yes, good idea to go on to bed. Late tv watching sometimes keeps us from knowing when we're really tired enough to sleep. Working with the new wools sounds interesting.

Morning Daily Card done well and the school run included getting requested supplies in to dd's science teacher. This is the second time this week that I have felt the person positioned at school entrance was pushy, and almost contemptuous of the students' need for time to get items out of cars - the first was the modern house model, which was obviously an assignment and obviously hard to pick up and carry. It's a silly place to position someone who's on a power trip!

Btw, a skippable pet peeve. Dfirstsisil, (whom I love and know is having a hard time right now). Sigh. Bless her heart.... posted on fb (which I now check with HRH to see about health from her direction of family) yet another long tirade about how HER grandchildren are in PRIVATE schools, which are SO MUCH BETTER than anyone ELSE'S old trashy public school. She makes a point to define all public schools as lesser schools. So of course all my (and her late brother's) children and grandchildren's education experiences are just chopped liver. I do hope her grandchildren are educated well. They will need as much support for their IQ intelligence quotient as they can get if they inherit her EQ emotional quotient. I can just see her other brother's family rolling their eyes when they read the post, along with neighbors, friends, her dh's family and work friends, etc. Note to self: if you get something nice, just say it's nice; don't say nobody else's is as good as yours.

Harriet: I hear you on the 'better than yours' comments. That's my sister. What she has can't just be, she must be much better (or much worse) than what others are. And conversations can't progress until you concede.

Ds's private school for middle school was much better than he would have had in public school (not just for him but for any kid, although there were good teachers, the public school was tough.) But his public high school had many excellent teachers and programs and I've met lots of kids with drug and other issues that go to private school. One thing I like about public schools is there's less likelihood to run into entitlement attitude. (One kid I carpooled with who was in grade 4 was shocked our car didn't have heated or leather, seats, for example.)

My tablet is almost back to normal. Did a factory set on it so am trying to remember all the stuff I had on it and make sure it is back. Don't want to miss something and then be without it when I don't have high-speed internet. The new keyboard isn't to my liking so I had to download and install another keyboard. That's done now and I like it but I'm afraid I've given away all privacy.

Dfs is filling in his security clearance form and needed to know when he came to live with us. We both recall March 2006. I found out today that I started using Google calendar on April 13, 2006, since that's the first day for entries on it! Dfs is noted in the entries so he was already with us at that point and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Feb. Dd's visit is one of the first entries, she came to meet her foster brother, and he had been with us several weeks at that point, so I'm confident it was March.

Faster internet is wonderful!!! i had forgotten what it is like to hit refresh and not wait for 30 seconds for something to happen. The installer arrived early for our appointment and has already finished. I am sad to leave my 10+ year internet provider because I truly like the owners and their customer support is outstanding.......but their equipment hasn't been updated in years. This is my first experience with internet service through cable modem. That wasn't an option when we lived in the country. Living in town does have its advantages!

Trash pickup plus faster internet service. I'm going to become spoiled and unable to return to country living.

D Harriet... over the years I found that those that brag about schools and compare privileges do not necessarily far well than anyone else in the district. Unfortunately, I have seen how these parents who make blanket statements, such as this, put so much pressure on their children and grandchildren to be perfect for the parents ego not the child's. It doesn't always end well.

It's a constant in my neighborhood and I have learned to ignore it. We call it the mommy/grandma wars - a unhealthy parent competition which is not about the children at all but about the adults who participate in it- I have a friend who no one really chatted with... I think they thought she was below them academically etc. because there is no pretense when you talk to her. When he daughter got into a prestigious university - other parents would say hello etc.. Lots of "your daughter got into ...." etc. My d friend would laugh and say she had people talk to her for the first time ever... She never told them she had been a professor at Dublin university and she specialized in analytic statistics. She is truly one of the warmest kindest people I know but you would never ever hear her put anyone down.

d nancy I had to laugh, imagining your rooster making so much noise because of the chain sawing done at your house yesterday.. HOpe egg production doesn't get too out of wack this week. The rooster needs to let the hen girls get back to work.

d rose.. my dd younger had to go to testing at an 17/18 year olds... because 1. she always struggled because she couldn't keep up or read in front of class because of the time comprehension took for her. 2. her concussions had an effect on her. 3. her goofed up nervous system and the 2 seizures probably haven't helped. It took htwo days for testing - as she was older.-

she always worked hard so her grades didn't suffer but she spent so so many hours doing homework and studying many times until 2 am. Turns out she was dyslexic, has visual and auditory problems... comprehension is a problem (mostly because of visual issues and time it takes her to assimilate the information. She is really smart and has immense common sense that helped her in school. Now she will go for visual therapy and will be tested for auditory issues. She has learned lots of tricks on her own. Best thing she ever went through
She also has ADHD. When she was young we made a lot of visual games for learning. She has horrible reading comprehension- but works hard at finding tricks.. but is a wiz with math. we always say F is not a failure ... it means figure it out... there are so so many different ways to learn information. DD was blessed with some of the most wonderful teachers. Also when negative voices chirp in ... we remind her of famous educators/scientists/business people with ADHD and/or Dyslexia. All that she has gone through has made her a kind gentle young woman with determination.

Things we noticed from young... she could never tell right and left - she still has to think as it doesn't come naturally to her (or how to explain was hot and cold.. she would get the words mixed up). Actually she is ambidextrous - she plays left handed guitar, banjo and mandolin and ukulele. She uses left handed golf clubs, writes with her right hand and uses scissors on right hand. in grammar school she could not do speed tests on the computer as expected. She knew the answers if you asked her.

I'm so frustrated and unproductive today.

Tablet, I believe is back up and running. At least I hope it is. I've had slowness issues and still do. I've had black screen issues and still do. So the new operating system didn't help in that regard. And I've used up most of the battery and it isn't yet noon. Most days it is at 60% power left when I plug it in. Although I have used it a lot more today.

I don't like a lot of the new display stuff. Seems they've changed things just to change things and that bugs me.

It is also a smoke day here. I have stuffed the bottom of the door with foam to try and make it better. Don't know if it worked.

I still haven't done any morning chore except eat.

Next I'll s2s and hopefully find my motivation. It might be a loud music day.

BTW: when the super was here we asked about that annoying tone (which seldom sounds now.) He said it is the new boilers and he was working hard to fix it. He's in apartment 211 (we are 2210) and is right over the new boilers. They didn't sleep the night/day the sound was the worst. So that explains the quick action when I hear it developing from time to time. It has never been as bad as it was that day. Now it lasts maybe 10 minutes.

He also said during the power outage a few weeks ago that he checked on the boilers and could see the pressure dropping. They are supposed to be on the generator so he couldn't figure out what was wrong but apparently the new ones weren't connected to the generator. He immediately switched back to the old boiler to keep the heat up and it was working. Since then, the electricians have been in and the new boilers are hooked up to the generator.

I still have book keeping to do to finish off last year for us. I have my attitude change! Yesterday was first world rough compared to the rest of the worlds issues. so today grateful to let yesterday behind. I love a new attitude and a new day.
