DO ANYTHING TUESDAY

Post by Twins' Mom »

You can do anything - but not everything.
-David Allen
After bellyaching yesterday about how busy I've been, I'm reminding myself that I can do anything, but not everything. Choices, priorities, and letting go are all strategies to do what's important and not be overwhelmed with all that's out there.

Kathryn is home from a trip and will need to integrate herself back into her home life.

Harriet has a new baby granddaughter Caroline, with family needs moving into the forefront of her life these days.

Helia is tracking her work hours as proof that she can't/shouldn't keep up the volunteer pace of prior years as a payroll SHE.

Although Elizabeth is developing her superpowers, we encourage her to limit those powers to good, not evil uses, LOL!

Molly's Nana is recovering from the stomach bug and heading back to her normal pace.

And Dee, worked and worked yesterday - but a reminder that one probably can't keep up that pace everyday!

Me? I'm prioritizing, staying on track today with desk day.

How will you work smart today?

You're so right, Twins -I can't keep up that pace every day, but once-in-a-while would be nice. Actually I'm up and s2s, just finished meds. Now to brew a cup of coffee, grab a bite and be on my way for a recall for my car. Have an appointment in Bartow, FL at 9am and it is now 8am. Quick, quick, quick...............BBL going to see dsisil on my way back from having car updated. Morning all!
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Dh snoozed last night to the end of the basketball game, I watched it off and on. I was ready to head to bed, but then it got so close I wanted to watch a little longer, then there wasn't any reason not to stay up to the end.

Not too bad an overnight - took awhile for Moe to settle down and I was up with him a couple of times. When Macs got up for breakfast around 6 I got on up myself. I might need a nap later, OTOH, if I don't nap I'll probably get to sleep faster tonight.

I need to get rolling this morning...
-breakfast
-meds/vitamins, me and dogs
-start a lol
-clear kitchen counters
-s2s

Good morning!

I'm awake and moving slowly. Having tea and chocolate right now. I emptied the dishwasher and made the beds (ds slept here a few nights and never makes the bed to my standards.) We'll put the suitcases up on the beds soon and start unpacking.

I'm exhausted and thick-thinking today. That's to be expected.

Dh has a doctor's appointment at 11:30 and I might come out with him or I might assign him errands to do while there (return library books, pick up mail from the general store are the only two I can think of now.) Pneumonia was going around on the ship and his cough sounds deep at times (but it isn't uncontrolled coughing although I never know how much that is dh being stubborn and refusing to allow himself to cough.) Anyway, best to have the doctor listen and start intervention if it is something beyond a cold.

As I type this, I figure it is more efficient to have dh run out on his own and leave me doing laundry. He's mailing a letter right now and will get his fob reprogrammed. Although, I suspect he won't because the office isn't open yet. Ooops.

While we were away, they changed the programming on the garage door and some front door fobs. So dd could get into the building but not out of the garage. Eventually, a tennant explained the issue
(after she ransacked the apartment looking for the garage fob) and she contacted the super who let her out with the car and told her to leave it in visitor's parking when she got back. She came back the next day (a Monday) and got my fob reprogrammed. In the meantime, ds's fob (for front door only) stopped working so he had to go get it reprogrammed too. So we figure dh's fob won't work either and he'll need it reprogrammed.

The apartment is 'dirty' (layers of dust and some dirt from boots) so I'll want to get going on that asap.

That's enough to think about for the moment.

Good morning all! I can't stay long but I wanted to stop by to say "hi!" Welcome home, Kathryn!

Yesterday was only 4 payroll hours. By the time I was ready to work again in the evening, it was 9:00 pm and dh had built a lovely fire in the fireplace and I was tired from jogging and just not being a night person. I decided not to stay up and work while my mind was fuzzy. I did a couple emails (moms group), played a bit, and then went to bed.

It is very gray here. That's the best way to describe the weather. We're forecast to get rain starting this afternoon and seemingly continuing through Friday. Probably not non-stop. Dh says we need the rain. I personally prefer the sun. :)

It is now almost 10 a.m. I'm going to s2s now and go to the groc. store. Then, I need to buckle down and get to work finishing plans for 2 classes (4 hours) today and making up an assessment rubric for one class - and possibly a presentation assignment sheet too.

Done:
- dogs in; dogs out
- checked emails; responded to one - moms group
- QT
- unloaded dw

Next:
- s2s and self-care
- groc. list finished? I don't want to have to go again before I leave town on Friday.
- groc. store

Later:
- out to payroll 1 - 6:15-ish
- get dinner together: fettucine w/ bacon and fresh basil in a cream sauce, salad, bread
- kitchen clean, dw running
- garbage and recycling to the curb
- payroll: will I be too tired to work this evening?

Have a great day!

I am experiencing a lag in my energy level 2day. Trash is @ the curb.
I made coffee spiffed up the kitchen counters a bit.
It is helping and starting to show. :mrgreen:

I've s2slippers.

The formal wear suitcase has been emptied and put away. The contents are 1/3 put away.

I've bleached my mouth guard.

I've started a load of laundry.

I'm having a snack and rest now but am quickly slipping into nap mode. Dh has gone to the doctor so I have the apartment to myself which feels glorious. Blessed quiet (the sound of the generators on the ship wears on a person.)

~~~ waving Hi to all~~~~~
We are working our way through the stomach sickness. Or rather the stomach sickness is working it's way through us! LO is back to normal energy and eating everything. DGD3 ate for the first time today since last Wednesday. DH and myself have been on liquid only for a couple days. My fever broke during the night so I think I'm going to try a few bites today and see if the stomach is ready to handle food.
Bathroom construction continues. There have been several aut-ohs to work through. Yesterday they ran the sewer line across the yard including breaking up the driveway. There was multiple issues that I had to call DH twice for advice but we worked through them. Now my lastest aut-oh is the bathtub I selected. It won't fit through any of the doors. :roll: Yesterday morning I put a plastic bag in my pocket (in case I got sick away from bathrm) and went shopping for bathroom things (cmd, bathrtub, vanity, top, etc). Those items are being delivered this morning.....minus the bathtub that we called and cancelled. We will have to get credit for that one and select a two piece bathtub instead. Soooo I need to make another trip to the big box store.
Bible study went well. I took the good news of dgd's birth and her other good health news to several church members there who have been praying.
I doubt I was as well prepared for this lesson since I've been distracted, but it seemed to be very well received.
Dd and I will dash out to the vitamin store to replenish some supplements and also an errand run to the bank. Don't want to stay too long because I'm thinking we might get a call from ds. Probably too early in the week, though.
Kathryn, I was astonished to read how long you'd been awake! You will need to catch up on sleep for a while. Hope the dr finds no cause for alarm.
LadyM, I had missed that you and dh were sick at all. Hope you can get past all this soon and feel well.
Harriet: I was astonished too!
I was actually out of bed longer on the way to Australia, 50 hours, but I slept much better on both planes, (partly because our flights were both overnight rather than both over daytime), had a shorter layover, just enough time for a light meal and a shower, and had a deep nap at the hotel before going out for dinner that night. So I was more rested than last night. Last night, poor dh asked if I wanted to come to the doctor's appointment with him today (it hadn't been made yet) and I started whining at him saying the only thing I knew at that time was I wanted to go to sleep and I had to return library books today. Everything else would depend how I felt after getting some sleep. I only slept 8.5 hours last night (and was up to the bathroom once) so I have a lot of sleep to catch up on.
My suitcase is also empty now, as well as the carry-on bag and the formal clothes suitcase, and about 70% of the contents of those suitcases has been dealt with. A load of laundry is hung up to dry now. I also ran the electric broom over our bedroom before putting up the drying rack.
I took time to walk to the office but couldn't get dh's fob reprogrammed (the woman who does it is ill.) They said it was just random ones that stopped working so I checked dh's at the entrance to the garage and it works (plus I already knew the lobby door works) so his doesn't need reprogramming. Apparently they updated the software and random fobs stopped working.
I picked up a Dr. Pepper from the tuck shop and am having another break.
Dh just called to say that he returned my library books, visited with our senior friend, picked up the business mail and caught up on the village news at the general store. He's on his way home now.
