Tuesday Transformation

Post by Harriet »

Let's keep up the makeover concept from yesterday - inspiring.

What are you transforming with a makeover in your home? What are you transforming about yourself? :)

I'm transforming into a person who will enjoy the drive today and seeing dsis! It will be nice to have d favorite cousin going with me, but like Lucylee, I'm anxious about having another person around for the day.

Dh and I were up in the night debating about dMoses. I do think that the time is very near but we are so close to ds being done with finals and getting him home to say goodbye if at all possible. According to the exam sch, GT has exams going through Friday but that may not be ds' schedule since he graduates on Saturday. Dh ended up sleeping on the Great room couch, with Moses on the floor by the couch. I hate to be away today.

I've been sleeping less. It isn't dh waking me up, I seem to wake naturally around 6. Probably the sun. I actually thought it was 7 since I have a night eye-shade on but suddenly I was aware of the light being on. It is programmed to come on at 7 so I thought that was why I wasn't tired. Turns out it was likely because the sun had popped over the horizon. We have vertical blinds and no sun hits our bed but the final 1/4 of the windows is left uncovered because the window opens inward and we've been sleeping with the window open. I guess the extra light is waking me. Not sure how to solve this, I already have an eye-shade on and I like the open window.

I'm up. Knees are iffy but not painful when I'm not using them. I bought Voltaren gel to rub on them last night and that felt great. My sleep record is actually worse that the night before, which was worse than the night before that, so it didn't help improve my sleep any.

We had dinner out last night, then swung by dd's and dropped off the old deck box so it is out of here. Visited with her for a bit because they'll be away starting tomorrow for weekend. Dsil is back to Waterloo to mark the Euclid exams (standardized math test that high school students who love math do. Not sure if dd is doing the marking as well.) Must remember to go water her seedlings again later this week.

Taxes WILL GET DONE today.

(((Twins))), I wasn't home for a last goodbye when my dog was put down so I agree with your putting things off. My parents didn't even tell me (I lived in the same city.) I dropped in for a visit and no-one was home and her things weren't where they normally were. I came outside and a neighbour came up to say what a shame it was about Freckles. That's how I heard.

Thankfully, I was included when both Sophie and Molly were put down and am ever grateful to Molly's Mistress for making me a part of the family for those moments. It helped heal Freckles death a bit.

Is anyone else noticing the boards take a long time to load or make a post?

It could be me (my internet is dodgy and other things are a bit slow), but in the past 3 days it seems to have got extremely slow.

The boards were slow for me yesterday.

Oh, ((Twins)). I'm so sorry about dear Moses.

Done so far:
- up
- checked emails; responded to one (band uniforms) and wrote one (moms group)
- s2bf and self-care
- finished loading and started dw - wasn't done last night; also wiped down d.r. table - also wasn't done last night
- stuff to the curb for Pu rp le H eart. Slightly irritated at dh; he was the one who decided to do this - and then he had to run out the door for a meeting, so I was the one to gather items, label bags, and put them at the curb.

Next:
- moms group teaching team meeting this morning. Must leave now. I hope to be home before 11:30
- edit Ss paragraphs
- finish prepping for classes today; trying to do what can be done to prep students for final exams tomorrow and Thursday
- prep the bulgogi - set it marinating
- leave a little before 1 pm; I need to check the listening section of one final exam to figure out any unusual vocabulary Ss will need to know
- be home a little after 6 pm

Transformation completed -I'm a "SHE" again, Kathryn. Thank you. Have no idea why it stopped recognizing my password. You may have gotten another request from me -wasn't sure they were going through and then decided to try checking on my K indle.
And yes, the boards have seemed quite slow to me as well. I've often hit the submit button again -then it's showed up with my post repeated in the draft space so I just x out of it. Strange things. Hoping I can stay connected now. I almost feel like I've lost a lifeline when I can't get in. But then some form of our boards have been 'home' for a lot of years. It's no wonder you all seem like IRL friends to me. And of course some of you have met and some more than once.

It's storming quite hard here. Had one crash of lightening immediately followed by thunder a while ago. Sure it hit right behind the house. Poor lab is a basket case and I can't seem to get her 'thunder coat' on. It definitely makes a difference with her.

Now I have to get ready to go to church for a women's meeting. Spent way too much time here just trying to get in.

Dh did see his cardiologist yesterday. He 'chewed' dh out for a couple of things. One was I had the wrong dosage typed in for his fluid enhancer (which he takes every 4 or 5 days). They don't even make it in 20mg which I had written down -it's 5mg. He also wasn't happy his weight was up some. Of course he hadn't walked in months because of his knee. Then he took him 325mg aspirin and told him to start the 81mg today. Ortho had wanted him to stop aspirin entirely before his surgery but the cardio wants him to keep taking the 81mg up to and after the surgery. His personal Dr. put him on potassium daily (instead of just when he takes the fluid enhancer). His potassium level was low -dr last fall told him to eat a banana each day which he does. Evidently it's not enough to counteract what he loses with his daily Lasix.

(((Twins & Moses))) I hear you -I'd hate to be away too. I'm just having trouble leaving poor dlab alone in this stormy weather. I was debating even going for a while -mainly since I seem to have a big headache -sure it's from the atmospheric pressure. Safe travels today, Twins.

Kathryn, I too have noticed that the boards are slow. I thought it was just me.

I woke up before 5 to go to the bathroom. I went back to bed but never got back to sleep. Reality is setting in and I guess I am panicking about dh's upcoming surgery. My stomach has just been flipping and flopping all morning.

We got the new curtain rods up yesterday. I just put up the valances, since we open the window at night when possible. I think I will just put up the curtains during the months that we don't open the window. Recently I washed the bedding and curtains in the guest room and the curtains shrunk. So I decided I would just dry clean the new set for our bedroom as needed. But the labels all say, do not dry clean. So I got on the catalog site and read the reviews. Several mentioned to air dry everything and no shrinkage. I still had a set of curtains for the guestroom that hadn't been washed. I washed and air dried them with no shrinkage. So I decided to go ahead and keep this set of bedding, etc. for our room.

Guess I better get busy, the day is getting away from me.

Our boards are quite large. It is possible the slowness is due to the size of the database but I'm just guessing here.

If that is the case, we'll have to delete some of our older posts. Not the information ones, just PWYC and perhaps Joys & Concerns.

Whenever we do a backup of the boards, it takes hours because of the size of the database. And I'm pretty sure people don't go back too far when they are searching PWYC (I use it as a 'diary' for things like my eye inflammations and other life events.)

Is there anyone who objects to us deleting PWYC posts older than 3 years? In other words, I'll delete everything from 2011 and prior. That should reduce the number of posts by about 40%.

Glad to see Dee here.

Was just peeking in to see if she was up and then heading to s2s.
