Thriving Thursday
Some of us are prepping and planting gardens at this time of the year and I hope that all we plant (whether literally or figuratively) thrives.
Some of us have minor health worries and I hope we can all take steps that help us thrive.
Some of us have major health concerns, either for themselves or family. I hope those of us in that situation know that they have positive energy and support from this group whenever they need it. We are here to listen, share concerns and celebrate victories.
So, may we all thrive, today and always!

Re: Thriving Thursday
I'm up. Feel like I slept better (although I had decaf tea at 9:30 last night so was up to the bathroom at midnight!)
Knees were slow to calm down this morning but have finally settled down. I've made the bed, tidied the bedroom and put away the dishes from the drainer and dishwasher.
I'm having my tea and chocolate now.

Re: Thriving Thursday
I'm up, albeit early for me. Was up at 6am and have s2s, meds & breakfast done, bed made. Now I'm having a cup of coffee. Have texted a little bit with dh -just enough to tell him I love him, etc. Know he'll have an extremely busy day with all the 'last minute' stuff -both for opening day at the campground tomorrow and getting ready to go for his surgery. He'll more than deserve a couple of days of rest. I so wish I was there to sit on him. I know he won't knowingly 'undo' the surgery, but I still worry he'll do whatever people ask of him. Going to try posting to our "Pond" people on FB tomorrow, hoping they'll leave him alone for a bit. I know it won't happen, but I can pray and hope. He is going to DS-A's for at least Friday, Friday night. He'll be on crutches so at least people can see his limitations.
Thinking about making a WM run just to walk around a bit. My 'Charlie horse' is still there, but intermittent. I do have a few things to pick up and need to get gas. DD did bring my cane in from the car this morning so I'd have it to get down the steps (there is no rail) and in case the 'horse' grabs me. I had almost 9,000 steps in yesterday and I'm sure that's why I'm hurtin'. But I so want to get lots of steps in today as well and on and on.

"Woot!" is right. Happy you were able to do that, Kathryn. I keep hoping somehow the IRS will find a mistake on ours and send us a refund. Now wouldn't that be special!?That turns the amount I owe into a refund. Woot!

Re: Thriving Thursday
rain is set in here. Hoping the low does not eventuate off the coast as it can do dastardly things to our weather if it forms, then sits there. (like removing dm's roof, or lapping water at my door tiles)
I should have gone to get few groceries today as tomorrow its forecast to be worse. Bill to pay also. I need just make the special trip as after exercise classes/pdoc I just want to go home. The do everything at the outing plan is not working for me.
re knees. I swear by omegas for feet in particular, and my knees. I take 15ml (1tablesp) chia seeds soaked in water, and 2 x 2x 1500mg fish oil daily. The omegas have been found helpful for RA, which I'm not dx'd with but siblings are. .. Hoping you can get some relief Kathryn.
Sending hugs to Twins family and ddogs.
I spent time on online chat and mtg today. Helpful. Washing away. shorter walk while the rain was lighter.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Good morning! I am on the run today - trying to talk myself out of seeing dmom today but I think I will go on today to keep tomorrow open in case I need to go to ATL to get ds. So my PODA looks like this:
9:30 - leave here to go to temple, other synagogue and JCC to pick up meals
10:45ish - arrive at mom's house
11:30 - leave there for body work
12:00 to 1:30 body work aka a massage
back home, then,
3:00 PT for dMacs
then the day is free
So I need to be out of here in a little less than an hour...heading to s2s right now and leaving a mess. If I have a chance today, I need to stop off at Lowes for potting soil too. I don't know what tonight holds for dh.
Moses had an okay night. I laid down with him at bedtime until he relaxed and slept, but then I slept until 6:30 or so. So we are in holding pattern, day to day, hoping to get ds home on Sunday to see him.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Good morning.
Great catch on the taxes, Kathryn. Thanks for the start. I like thriving Thursday!
Thanks for the reminder about chia seeds, Lynlee. I used to drink Chia fresca, i.e. chia seeds in lemonade.
Have a great day.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Lynlee: thanks for the tip about omegas. Dh is taking them, but I don't. I do glucosamine/chondroitin (sp!) but scientifically they have not been proven to help. Anecdotally, they seem to help me (i.e. if I forget my vitamins, I'll be sorer through the day/night but don't realize why until I see the vitamins still in the dispenser.)
I've spent time working on the fitbit website, changing my goals down so that I won't get as discouraged. I can inch them up but now there's no point seeing failure day-after-day. Also have started tracking my food intake again.

Re: Thriving Thursday
Could not drowning in the pool help Kathryn? You might need find other ways to exercise. Look up chair exercises. or see what you can do without impacting knees.
Warnings from yoga and tai chi is not to move knee forward of ankle when bending or lunging as that can strain and damage knees.
[I someone I know had heaps of trouble with knee pain, no one could help. Eventually she went to ortheopedic doc who took one look at her hobbling in, got her to describe pain, (also viewed mri) and then dx and was perscribed meds that solved the problem, but warned other knee might go through same thing. She hasn't complained to me since, and years have passed. ]
I do take glutamine too. And its my own personal experience rather than 'proven scientificly' that I'm following. I started taking fish oil for brain function. (Its meant to help BP) and found a difference if I forgot it a while.
Hope you find needed solution soon. (My foot ankle hobble problem took 5 mths to pass so hope you are better sooner than that. Not walking so far, laying off the yoga and tai chi for a time, shorter dog walks helped mine.)

Re: Thriving Thursday
I am playing hooky from church moms group this morning. There was just no way I could THRIVE (i.e.get everything done for payroll) with 4 hours of my day committed elsewhere. I did go help set up, though. I'm back now, drinking tea, and prepping to work.
I'll follow Twins with a semi-PODA. .
Done:
- up a bit early
- typed up 9/15 of the Ss chosen paragraphs for the end-of-the-session "publication" for sharing in class today
- s2s and self-care, abbreviated QT
- otd at 8:30
- set up at moms group
- home around 9:35?
- email re: dinner tonight
- egg cleaning commenced
Next:
- finish typing up paragraphs; make sure they're on USB stick. Our printer broke last night. Ack!
- grade writing final exams
- jot down game plan for 2 classes this afternoon; exams won't take the full 2 hour class period
- tidy living areas, if time
- spiff self for work and gather everything
??- leave at noon to walk to work again? --I liked doing that a lot. It is gray and has already rained today. Not sure if it will rain again. Plus, we have dinner guests tonight and might want to tidy at home before going to work. So, I'll see how feasible this is as the morning progresses
Later:
- make copies at payroll
- teach for 4 hours
- arrive home after 6 pm, whether by bus or by car
- tidy living areas, if time
- help dh with cooking
- dfriends will be here for dinner around 6:45/7:00 pm
- somehow, grade 3 more sets of final exams
- enter all grades and attendance by 10 pm. Ha! It will maybe be 11 pm.
- find game sheet to bring to work tomorrow
- go to bed tired
