Monday, Truth Be Told

Post by Harriet »

blessed had a "truth be told moment" last evening. :D

Right. Like she thinks we don't all have similar stories! She knows, that's why she tells us! ;)

Truth be told, I'd better assess Mt. Washmore here. And truth be told, I've got Desk Day catch-up for sure.

Focus cleaning is storage, so, truth be told, I need to get to that sweeping in the storage barn.
Focus schedule heads toward "outdoor" next week, so this week I should declutter there and there's plenty to do.

Good morning Harriet!

Hmm..... Mt. Washmore needs some attention here and desk tasks - oh, well, that is a truth be told area for sure. Mainly, there is an issue with my massive collection of file folders. They need to be organized and papers placed in binders for work or moms group to make the resources in them actually usable. Outdoor tasks need to start here soon.

Yesterday was gorgeous! It may have gotten up to 80*, I'm not sure. Dh and I went for a jog at 5 pm and it was 78*. I napped off and on all weekend, it felt like. Then, I had trouble sleeping last night.

Ds and dd19 left Saturday for a week long camp in the UP with their campus Christian group. Dfriend S has gone with her group too. They're coming back Friday? Then, we'll be a family of 5 for a few weeks until ds needs to go to Boston.

Ds has received the first dings on his University GPA this semester. 2 A-s. One is in a linguistics class which apparently he attended very sporadically. That won't hurt him as much if he pursues a grad degree in an engineering field. Also, he didn't heed dh's advice re: dropping a class while also working in a professor's lab. Hmmm....... We're hoping he learned some things from this. Dh says if he has a good semester next fall, he should still be OK-looking to good grad programs. If he just wants to do an MS, unclear at this point, this won't matter much.

Today: I am up, have had some tea, and have done a little online shopping to spruce up my wardrobe for the spring.

Yes, Harriet, I think I've seen that book you mentioned yesterday. We actually have called the Big U here "the best bang for the buck" for ds and dd19 for their interests/goals. However, we're not sure it is the best bang for dd16, which is why we've been looking at other schools. I don't think various ranking systems would be helpful to us in this case, unless they include a section on design schools only.

We're between sessions at the school, so no classes there today. I will be tutoring R at 9:50 today and then dd16 has a Dr. appt. at 11:10. I'll meet her there. I'll go to the groc. store this afternoon and then try to get caught up on some things around here. There also are some moms group matters I need to take care of. An open afternoon is a rarity for me.

Off to get the a.m. routine going.

Good morning, SHEville! It's always so nice to be greeted by your posts and smiles. I can understand Lilac's happiness and being able to be 'connected' while she's away.
Dee, your DH needs to take something for that pain. I'm told that struggling against pain does not help healing. I'm sure you know that. Why are men so stubborn?
You are so right, Harmony, and I'm going to quote you this morning in a text to him! I'd wondered why he didn't have any pain -seems they put a nerve block in that area for this kind of surgery and it lasts up to 48 hours or better. It's good that he has some pain, it'll keep him slowed down. He did tell me that he keeps reading over all the instructions, so I know he's adhering to them pretty well.

I'm just getting ready to go up to church. We have a new copier being installed this morning and I need to be there to see how to do everything. Can I say I pretty much dislike learning new equipment? Imagine dsonil is out in the living room -still not sure how we're going to make this work but hopefully it will all iron itself out. He starts work at his new job on Wednesday. The problem is he'll be working 7-7, nights. That'll mean a lot of his time during the day will probably be spent in the living room recliner (and as we all discussed last week, it's all one big 'great room'. The only room by us that is not, is the office.

Time for meds and breakfast. I'm not looking forward to this new routine. Problem is that by the time I can putter, do dishes, clean or whatever my mojo will be gone.

I started cleaning on the back screened porch this weekend. I'm not doing very much at a time. There has been so much just set there over the winter and everything is so dusty and covered with pollen!!! DD has 'big' items out there that she has to use for different projects for school -like large coolers, a huge grill, then there's some planks of beautiful wood for dsonil, etc, etc, etc. But I'm hoping that if I get a good start that it will inspire dd to pitch in. Dsonil could care unfortunately.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

May the Fourth be with you! Happy Star Wars Day!

Truth be told, it is a good thing Harriet started us off this morning. My opening would have been far too silly today!

I'm up, s2s, stripped and remade the bed, removed the black blanket over the duvets (which are ugly) and ironed a sheet to put on instead. We take the blanket off at night but it looks dark and heavy. The room is 80 degrees right now so dark and heavy seems wrong. Now the bed has an ivory sheet on it and the room looks lighter (but I think I prefer the black since the room is large and heavy isn't a bad look for it.) At night, if it continues to be too hot, we'll be able to kick off our duvets and pull the sheet over us. I've turned the waterbed heater and that helped last night. I didn't wake up in a sweat through the night so that's a good thing.

My fitbit says I didn't sleep any better last night than the night before. Sigh... Hopefully my numbers will start to improve soon.

Busy day today.

Year-end paperwork in the morning (organizing mainly and making lists.)

Interment at 1 at the village and Costco run on my way home.

Year-end paperwork in the evening.

There is a load of laundry on right now and I'm just finishing up my tea and chocolate so the day has started reasonably well.

Good morning.
Truth be told we are wading through piles of dog and cat hair, and truth be told, I'm leaving for work and won't have a chance to deal with it.
But tomorrow starts my three days off!! Yay! I'll have time to vacuum, deep clean the kitchen, declutter, and all kinds of fun things like that.
Have a good day.....

Yes, Happy Star Wars day!

Not great overnight with Moses, we have made an appointment for vet to come here this afternoon at 4 p.m for him. Dh will come home from work before going out to bowling, and ds can be at home or go out as he wishes. Need to text dd; I reminded her yesterday that she should say her goodbyes but she was in such a snit by the time she left she probably wasn't thinking of other things.

Tonight I am going to a concert - a dneighbor two houses down is a professional musician, composer and conductor and tonight conducts and premiers a composed work for brass here.

Truth be told, I'm amazed at how thoroughly four people, one of whom left around 5:30 last night, could trash a clean and neat house between 3 p.m. and bedtime. Ds brought in a lot of his stuff and left it in the dining room, which is visible from the front door. I'll need him to pull out what he needs right now and move the rest to the bonus room upstairs or the garage at some point, but I might cut him some slack today.

Good morning, villagers ~
I have to be somewhere every day/evening this week except tomorrow. Good thing I don't have to be anywhere today until late afternoon. Until then I will be catching up on the normal post-weekend chores.

We had a bad storm last night. Now there is bright sunshine but we are supposed to get more storms tonight. Thus starts the season of unreliable electricity ...

Horizontal surfaces are all overflowing again  -- today's goal is to find the dining room table.

Our lilac bush is from a sprig DMom gave us when she sold her house. (I wish now we had taken one from each bush she had, because she had white, pale lilac, and dark purple. I've never seen the dark color again, and the house's current owner doesn't have them anymore.) Yesterday I went out and cut a beautiful full bouquet from our bush. The kitchen smells wonderful now.

I wish the lilacs had waited just 1 more week to bloom, we could have taken some up to DMom and DMil for Mother's Day. The blooms will all be gone by then.

(((Twins'Mom & family))) so sorry about dear Moses.

Hi everyone!

I love leaving the weekends activities up to Wayne. We went to the American side of the falls on Saturday and had Olive Garden for lunch and then I went to Hobby Lobby and then we got some stuff in W almart.

Sunday saw us on the boat and fishing on the Grand river. Wayne caught a 12 pound catfish.

Truth be told moment. He doesn't see the mess in the apartment and the only thing he will do is the dishes.

I have 3 laundry baskets of clean stuff to put away and the dresser has been covered in stuff since we moved in last September. We have had dark red sheets on the bed for months and I switched them for the white and purple floral ones last Friday. It brightens up the room. I was contemplating turning the duvet cover over this morning actually.

Dinner will be a beef roast cooked in the crock pot.

I am looking forward to next Sunday. Wayne has always spent the day with his mom and this year will be no different. We will be having a BBQ with pork chops (for his mom) and salmon (for his sister) and steak for Wayne and I.

Right now all of the above meat and fish is in the very tiny freezer above the fridge. Wayne has a food saver machine and he can get a lot of food crammed in there.

I need to get over to the store for some potatoes before I can start the crock pot stuff.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good morning. Truth Be Told I feel as if I've already done a whole day's work.

Hit the ground running. Dailies done including desk chores. Helper was here sorting truck while DH was out meeting county guy at other job. So I was back and forth with him a couple times. Ran to the bank with a check. I emptied the shredder and as that's always a messy job I ran the sweeper around in the office. I hand-washed 2 pairs of shoes and have them out drying on the back porch. Refilled my medicine containers for next 9 days. For some reason I hate that job.

Blessed, I often get my clothes washed, hung up on hangers (outside or in the garage) then back in on the rod in the laundry room. I don't always get them put away for another couple days. Right now there are a few pieces hanging there that need ironed and I think they've been there 2 weeks! The rack is full in the garage from yesterday. You're in good company!

Holding good thoughts for Lilac and her DH and their trip. I guess she was leaving today?

Big scavenger hunt for a set of keys today... still missing...not mine though..

Need to switch gears and start again. Always the hardest part of my work day, getting started again.

(Twins) I'll be thinking of you today.

We can't grow lilac here or forsythia. I wish we could. I brought in a vase full of plumbago flowers from the bush I yanked out of the ground yesterday. They need serious pruning several times a year and I just couldn't keep up with it. It had roots under our footer and into the grass on other side of the curbing. Space along the side where I cleared it out looks very nice though. My knee (I checked) is closed up I guess but it is green and purple about a silver dollar size spot and it hurts.
