Monday PWYC - Let's do it!

Post by Twins' Mom »

And it's another Monday, another start-over, another week for us to do better, or enjoy our lives more, or make up for past misdeeds!

The week is new and fresh!

Small steps - I did get my 5K steps yesterday. I need to keep at it now that's it's warmer and weather is nicer.

Our supper will be grilled chicken, roasted brussel sprouts, maybe a little salad too?

Laundry to hang to dry is going, I need a quick shower. Need to get moving!

I'd like to swap out our porch pillows today to add spring colors. It's mainly navy in the winter, I put the navy prints away and add greens in the spring.

Morning….

I need to get moving to, or should I say get packing. Goal for today is to pack up my entertainment center and decorations on top of my kitchen cabinets. I also want to start moving my banker boxes out to the garage and stage them according to which room they will finally be moved to.

Also have a phone call or two to make and want to plan our dinners for the next week or two. Looking to make dinners that are easy to make and will cover two night. Tonight spaghetti and meat balls.

Still itchy and still taking Benadryl. Can’t wear a bra for any length of time but since I’m at home not going to worry about it. Need to finish my coffee and get going

Waving to y’all :D

Good Morning!

Twins - Thanks for the start and encouraging words.

LucyLee - I was just reading your post from last night and found myself wanting to add rewards to your goals. (this idea is from Atomic Habits book) I know everyones mind works differently and starting your goals with the word NO may do better for you than having REWARDS. After you read these goals/rewards does your brain resist or look forward to finishing the tasks so you can claim your reward? There is no right or wrong answer, just what works best for you.
** After I have exercised, weighed & recorded, s2s, and set one task plan for the day then my reward is PHONE/FB/SHE's
** After I have spent at least 5 minutes on said task then my reward is SITTING DOWN TO READ THE PAPER

Twins - I have fond memories of being at the Masters tournament. Many years ago, I was attending a 2-week class nearby while the Masters was going on. I stopped by the course and walked outside. DIFFERENT from being inside the fence but it was enough for me. I don't have an interest in golf, but I absolutely loved seeing the Masters beautiful landscape. #GoodMemories

Today is off to a good start. Not a great start because it feels like I'm building back up to the regular speed after 3 days of company and non-stop busyness.

DD10 has been delivered to school with happy chatter while driving there. Homeschool has started. Routines #1-3 are done. #4 is underway.

I’m just trying now to limit after-supper snacking.
Just improving on one step at a time all helps, Lucylee. I too have been 'stuck' for at least a month now. I know they say it's calories that count but I'm thinking it also has something to do with "kinds" of calories. Since my mouth has been so bothersome I've had mostly softer foods and so many of them are either fat or carb laden. I need more protein for sure! As far KETO diets are concerned, Lucylee, I can only tell you what dh's Dr told him: "Absolutely NOT!" His problem is he grazes and snacks all too often throughout the day. Of course when he gets back North and working they won't be so handy.

Just finishing my cup of coffee. Been revamping my daily and to-do lists and reconstructing them. That's probably taken the better part of the last hour and a half. Now on to some exercise!!

DD texted dsonil a list of things that need doing around here ( dh would have done lots of them if he hadn't spent over the last month at the hospital every day (ever since March 5th). Dsonil was out doing some work out front earlier. He probably spent 30-45 minutes out there. At least it's something. I can think of some things and will put a bug in her ear. She has to 'tell or ask' him since he obviously doesn't see any of it himself. Of course it would be much better if he got out and found some sort of a job.

He did put the end spout back on the downspout out front. Evidently when it rained Saturday it was so hard it took that spout right off. Know the front yard was completely covered in standing water. DD got her feet soaked when she went to her 'fun job' in Tampa. She had to cross the street which had a 6" curb on each side and was filled with water as far as she could see. Took her shoes off and dried them in front of a heater she had at work. The home team played horribly that night and at least 2 of their star players were benched for a time.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

I've done several things that needed to be done.
-cleaned out papers in my basket
-paid a bill I found in my basket
-scanned and discarded some papers
-activated a credit card (website wouldn't let me for some reason, had to call and talk to a human after going through a bunch of menus)
-retrieved from garbage: pump type top for my large bottle of shampoo, and tube of almost empty expensive face wash. Dcleaning lady discarded both. The face wash I cut in two when I can't get anything else out by squeezing, put in a baggie, and scoop more out until it's really really empty.
-returned grill cover to neighbors next door who had been out of town
-got an RSVP and the bill I paid in the mailbox before mail guy came by
-I'm soaking some small clay flowerpots in water to try to get gummy tape off - this is to repot the aloe that I've vowed to repot forever...

I still need to do some pillow swapping out. I have the bin with some spring decorative things out too.

Oh, also ordered my conditioner for gray hair (that keeps me silvery) and Elderberry supplement.

Went to the Monday morning knitting group for the first time in 106 weeks. LOTS of chattering, so it was difficult for me to concentrate on my cross stitching.

Supper tonight will be the last cottage roll from the freezer and I will make scalloped potatoes to go with it.

One load to put away from the dryer and I need to empty the dishwasher. I had a very relaxing weekend without having to do dishes or laundry until late last night. I had to wash the clothes we wore all day to have enough to make a small load.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.

Hey, all! It's good to see you!

Dee, my condolences on the loss of your DSisIL, especially to your DBIL. Prayers for his recovery also. Has your DSonIL been screened for depression, or would he not be willing to consider the possibility? It's hard to see sometimes when it's just a constant state of "meh" rather than a low mood. Of course it might not be, but if his state could possibly be improved, it might be worth checking.

You're just zipping along, aren't you, Twins?

LadyM, I see you moving smoothly from the weekend's busyness to the different busyness of the week!

Rose, I hope the shingles hurry up and leave you alone! I don't envy you moving twice in short succession, but you sound like a woman with a plan!

Cathy, was it Covid that had kept you from the knitting group, or you just didn't go, or a little of both? If this was the first or second session back from Covid, I could see where some folks might figure the chatting was more important than the needlework as they got caught up on others' lives.

I need to get things going with DC. We had a talk yesterday because our work on their room has fallen by the wayside since the semester started again. I wanted them to commit to either working an hour a day or dedicating one day a week, both of which they thought sounded too overwhelming. So we compromised on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Well, it's after noon now, so we need to get things cracking!

Have a great day, everybody!

first time in 106 weeks
I am wondering too. Because of Covid restrictions?
Regardless, I'm glad you have choices.

It is raining off and on here. Rain....sun pops out...repeat. Each time the rain stops I go outside and do a few things in the garden. I am easily entertained with walking in the garden enjoying the changes that are happening so quickly. Mums from last year that overwintered in the garden are up and growing.
Things growing right now in the garden = Asparagus (daily harvest started 4 days ago). tomatoes, peppers, onions, radishes, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, garlic, and pak choi. Several types of flowers are growing - mums, marigolds, nasturtiums, daffodils (blooming now).
I have loads of other things to plant but am waiting on weather and/or time available.

Homeschool is not going well. It is happening but it seems to be more time being spent on attitude adjustment than studies. Mr ODD is feeling his oats this morning after spending so much time with 15 years olds over the weekend. OHs Well. BTDT. He will soon learn the consequences of being a smart=aleck isn't worth it and return to his normal self. 40 years of raising children have taught me a to remain patient and consistent will resolve most problems.

Pancakes and bacon are on the menu for today
