On Track Tuesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Tuesday is a good day to get on track and stay on track. It's not Monday with all those unrealistic expectations, it's just an ordinary day to plug along getting things done!

Where are you on track these days and how do you stay on track? Or get back on track, like me?

Good Morning!

Yes, to the need to get back on track. My routines have been a bit iffy the last couple of days and are sliding into mediocre. I've noticed that "done well" brings the feeling of accomplishment but mediocre brings a blah feeling. I prefer to do my best to get that dopamine hit.

DD10 has been delivered to school with her 3 envelopes containing letters of apology. DS13 has started homeschool assignments. DH took the trash to the road this morning. I've opened the kitchen, refilled a week of Micro food, and set up DH AM meds containers to be refilled.

Morning…

We’re finally in our new home, but am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

I have discovered I have half the cabinet spaces I had in my old and rental spaces in my bathrooms. Have under the cabinets but no drawers in any of them. That means I need to recalculate what goes where and how to arrange things. Not that I can’t do it it’s just taking a lot of mental thought which I am lacking at the moment

My kitchen cabinets have me shaking my head. Drawer which ther are over 10 of them are mostly narrow and my above cabinet though tall at only 12” wide. I asked my brother about it and he told me these cabinets are with vanity or wall cabinets not kitchen cabinets. He’s a builder btw so he knows.

I have most of my furniture placed but my guest room is so small that it hardly accommodates my bureau and my queen size bed. My office room is larger but it makes no sense to swap since there is a bathroom attached to the guest bed room. I’m trying to to sweat the small stuff.

I’m working in one area at a time… today is my master closet. The owners left their washer and dry which is great because mine were over 13 years old but I think I need a masters degree in engineering as they are light years ahead of mine. Just looking at the controls on both have me scratching my head. I need to do laundry, but to do so means I need to read the manual and I don’t want to focus on that.

The view out the back of my home is wonderful and I focus on that. Twice I’ve seen osprays swoop down, trap a fish… my home is on a lake and take it to a roof top to eat. Once his/hers belly is full they grab the remains and fly away. I’m told eagles enjoy the same tasty treats and are just as spectacular to watch.

In the you can’t make this up category, my mom has now test a systematic with Covid and has been moved to the Covid Unit.. however she can have visitors. To make matters worse my son spent three days visiting her before he left to go to NYC Sunday night and is staying at the Time Square hotel. He was asked to give a huge presentation to his international company to his peers who are the vp’s, and is at a very prestigious three day conference. Yesterday my brother had to text him about my mom testing positive for Covid and said my son needs to be tested. My brother did his own test which is negative, but if my son test positive there will be huge consequences not only for this conference but my son would have to quarantine himself as he wouldn’t be able to fly home. Boy what a can of worms… fortunately he has been vaccinated, had his booster and already had a break through bought with Covid.

So as you can imagine my body is responding to all this negative stress. However I’m only itchy at the moment and not in pain. Something to be thankfully for.

Breaks over and back to work… waving to y’all

Trusting DD can put yesterday behind her & it can be a learning experience for her, Lady M.

I was awake a lot during the night for some reason. Got up at 7:20 & took my Thyroid med. Went back to bed and apparently slept till well after 9. Just finished breakfast and it's almost 10:30.

Think dsonil and I are going to M ission BBQ tonight for dinner.

Haven't heard anything from dd as yet. That's somewhat unusual as she at least calls/texts to let us know she arrived ok. Imagine she and her bunch of students is quite busy however.

Dh had an appointment at 9:15 with his GP. Waiting to hear how that all went. I had lots of questions for him to ask. He's having a lot of trouble with his foot. Said he could barely walk on Sunday but it was better yesterday. I really think he has plantar fascitis.

Need to make out an order for W almart and get that sent. So that'll be my focus for a while.

OM Goodness. Just had discussion with a dfriend from out of town. She is a dog lover and is trying to place a 5 year old Great Dane that she thinks would be perfect for us. She's talked to dh several times and we've talked over a period of months and we don't think we're wanting another dog right now. But I've said if the right dog comes along perhaps we would consider it. So she's asked if I want to drive to see her - about three hours away and meet Bonnie. She posted on Facebook asking me to call her and my first words were "Is it about a dog?" (Reflecting, I think I'm going to talk to dfriend M later. She always helps me with clarity of mind.)

I think I started posting from downstairs and lost it when I moved upstairs.

Dh was up at 4:15 for an early flight out of town and he'll be away until Thursday evening.

I need to myself on track and don't need a distraction. I kind of collapsed last week when I got home because I was exhausted and haven't picked up my genealogy work since.

Now done with brunch.

Home from large grocery trip. Took us so long to put away, lol. Obviously, we had let that chore go too long.

The forecast of temp for tonight was on the way down, just as I was afraid it was. Now 34 and a warning for potential frost.

A local station has said that they will donate to charity each time their forecast is right or close in some quantitative way. (don't remember exactly) I did think it spoke well of them to say they would donate when they were close, not when they were off. The concept of hoping to give money, not keep it unless they make mistakes, lol

Ramblin', I hope the positives about the house are plenty-plenty and keep you noticing them! Odd cabinets, though - more difficult to store, I'm sure. Maybe you could renovate their interiors. I am picturing some happy small character like the Geico Gecko as a miniature contractor: "Now, we're going to remove this interior wall. It's not load bearing." And walking right through a cut-out opening. (I know everything that's wrong with that, but it still made me smile.)

Oh, disappointed for your dmother and dson. I know dson really needs to present and be "on his game", without concerns. Praying for your dmother and all those caring for her, your dbrother.

Twins' we have a great dane rescue near us. The thing that is different about their rescue is the size of the dog houses (specially built) and the size of the requests for charity donations of food money. You are used to Muffin (possibly have that name mixed up). Do you have breakable things out on display? Then again, is Bonnie adorable?

Bonnie is about 120 lbs. Muffin at her most obese was about 100 and Macs approached 100 lbs at his chonkiest. But Danes are taller of course. As a plus, she's not a puppy but mature. We would have to get a fence, which I'm not crazy about. I like the openness of our yard. Muffin was so docile she rarely wandered, assuming I kept an eye on her.

OTOH, we've said we might get a dog if the right situation came up. And we've adored her Danes. Loving and relatively low energy.

Not a lot of breakable things in low places, Harriet. R uby's tail will clear a table or shelf in a heartbeat.

Some good news ~ The neighbors have been working with their 2 large dogs not quite as big as danes, but they are loud and bark at other
dogs and run at the fence and up and down the property it scares the neighbor behind and has startled me a time a or two. I am please to
see and hear the progress. I have tried what I could but seems they have someone helping with it.

We had winds in the night no damage and the power stayed on!
I found marigold seeds when I was sorting jars in the pantry to donate yesterday.

I woke in a down mood and and have been able to work out of that yea!

trash is at the curb.

I cut up biscuits for pooch I had gotten them frozen for dgd and she is no longer coming after school here and I
dislike these so they are perfect for the pooch when I cube them up and let them dry out and dd not have to bake any from scratch
for her this week.
