Thursday— Getting Through It?

Post by lucylee »

Are y’all working through projects or routines, or — like me — emotional issues and health issues?
I’m observing a battle between the steroid shot and the codeine cough med. Apparently the steroid is winning, so far. Fitbit only records an hour and 24 min sleep!!!
I know I slept more than that, but it must not be consistent enough to register.
Sigh.

Sent text to dfriend, hope it didn’t wake her!
Just stuff OMM.

Pest control lady comes today.
Must wash dishes in the sink and s/s baths.
Did laundry yesterday.
Tomorrow is another day.

Good Morning!

(((LucyLee))) Hopefully your body will heal quickly and you will catch up on sleep. Congrat's on your Mothers Day gift idea! #MakingMemories

I woke up during the night with the knowledge that I needed to get some help quick for DD10. Yesterday I talked to several friends, pastor, and school admins asking for recommendations for therapist. No one could provide a name. It doesn't feel right to pick a therapist by blindly calling at the top of the therapist list whose names start with A. My search for a therapist continues.... ANYway, just because we can't find immediate in person therapist help doesn't mean there isn't help available. This morning I ordered 4 books that should arrive tomorrow. Regardless of how successful we are in finding a therapist I think the books/workbooks will be beneficial for DD10. I don't expect DD10 to read/use all these books, but I wanted her to have options to choose which one/s she preferred. I also ordered a digital book for me to make sure I am covering the basics of parenting a child that has strong emotions. I am starting this book today and will be learning/implementing strategies. Most are common sense that I already try to do, but that doesn't mean I can't improve!

Today is a low appointment day (nothing on the calendar). Homeschooling both kids will fill most of the morning hours.

This was my thought EXACTLY but didn't get back here to say it. I've been thinking for a few weeks now that DD and I definitely need to make some memories this year (and she and dh). There was one trip she had planned to make with my DMom 35 years ago and that never happened as DMom passed away that February at a pretty young age. Keep thinking she make this trip with dh. I'm quite sure I couldn't manage it -it's to Nova Scotia I think. Have to ask her. But she definitely needs to plan NOW if she wants to do it with him. (Dh absolutely idolized my dear Mom and he would do it in a heartbeat!) So, will be talking to her about doing just that and making memories with me and/or both of us.

Need to get breakfast done since it's now almost 10:30. I slept fitfully and let myself lie in bed until almost 9am. Have to get a LOL going -which also means stripping DS-A's bed he used last week.

Adding: Got LOL going, ate breakfast, recorded it and got about 4 more boxes out of the garage and put them out in the recycling bin. (They haven't picked it up as yet -hoping they're on schedule this week. We shall see!)
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

We must all be busy today! I've been cleaning up the screened porch some. Ya'll remember all the issues with it last year? The finish bubbled up and then they had to grind it down some and put another finish on it. The grinding down left some marks and it looks terrible. And those marks where it's uneven (it looks like grinding marks) are holding dirt and I've been trying to clean it. I think I've done about as much as I can. I tried to clean up the patio area next to it with water and just the mop and the mop won't hold together now. I got basil into the ground and put a fern basket up so my raised garden beds look prettier and I've just done what I can on the porch floor. I'll get the dcleaning lady to move furniture around tomorrow and vacuum the rug. I even raised up the edges of the rug and mopped under the edges where schmutz (dirt and pollen) hide.

I need to have lunch and go to the grocery.

Wow, I think this will make eight posts for the day and three of them are mine!

I'm granting myself some down time while my Fitbit charges up some. I need to get a shower - I skipped it this morning knowing I'd get sweaty today. We're eating out tonight.

Hello! It is a quiet day here. I didn't have any trouble getting into the website today.

Lucy, hope your meds are working and you're starting to feel better. The outing with your dmom sounds nice.
((Lady M's DD10)) Hoping you can find some answers soon and dd's troubles can be helped.

I'm having a quiet day at home also. I washed up a few dishes that were in the sink, dbil is napping in his chair and dsis is out on a couple of errands. She and I went shopping yesterday; we needed some groceries and I have been looking at clothes to do a much needed update of my wardrobe.

Right now it is partly cloudy, 89*. Yesterday afternoon we had a thunderstorm roll through our area and it rained hard for at least a half hour. It was much needed for lawns and plantings; we could use much more. I'm hoping the dry season is coming to a close.

I am going to sew for a little while now and maybe after supper also.

Moving along... but about to park myself in the recliner!

Pest control lady came and I enjoyed following her around the house talking and catching up. We aren't the kind of friends who ever see each other outside of her quarterly visits, but when she arrives we talk nonstop.
Come to think of it, dh and I don't really have any friends we see socially. That is probably kind of sad. DH used to play golf, but he has basically given that up.

CI:
-- called the drug store, got the okay to add extra antihistamine to help sleep and stop excessive drainage. She told me I should feel better by tomorrow
-- dfriend answered text and I am feeling better about emotional issues
--been to the post office,
-- paid the gas bill,
-- talked to dmom on phone
-- washed dishes that were left in sink yesterday
-- s/s bathrooms
-- picked up kids' room
-- made bed, general straightening up before pest control lady arrived
-- rsvp'd to an invitation from dbil'd girlfriend. She works with a hospice group and they are having a party for their volunteers. She asked ds to provide entertainment, and she sent us and invitation to attend also. Looking forward to that.
-- talked to ds & ddil on the phone, compiled list of prospective/AWOL ;) church members for our new pastor
-- typed that list to send to dbil
-- sent list to ds for final "approval"

We are getting a new pastor in July. She asked our pastor-parish committee to give her a list of people we had lost since Covid, and there are a bunch of them! We are excited for her to return. She was youth director when ds was in high school, and grew up in our church herself. I know the Bible says -- I'm paraphrasing -- no one is a prophet in his own town... but I think she will really have a heart for our congregation and she certainly won't want the church to fail on her watch. When she was youth director, we had an amazing preacher, and our attendance was sometimes 150 on any random Sunday. That was 20 years ago, a lot more has happened besides Covid to blame this on. But NOW... we are lucky if there are 40-50 on Sunday. Easter Sunday we did have 90, but that is very unusual. Other churches in our community opened up much quicker than we did after the Covid shutdowns, and so many of our young families just got tired of waiting and took their children to other, more active churches.

I'm headed to the recliner!
Waving to all, and a BIG THANK YOU for all the "feel better soon" wishes!
Tomorrow is another day.
