Hello, blessed and all who follow.

The mattress is not flat, but it is very mushy despite not having anyone sleep on it. If the weight would not have made it leak more air, it probably would have supported one person overnight but probably not two. So I think I made the right decision when I decided last night to order the mattress from Wally World. I was supposed to pick it up after 11 am today, but I got a text that it was out of stock at the local store, so it will be shipped free to arrive Monday. But I still need to go by the store to pick up the incidental items I ordered from there, as long as I was ordering something. *sigh* I hate that place.

We need the mattress for four days, blessed. We are headed to the game convention we attend every year, and it looks like we have ended up with a hotel room that doesn’t actually have enough bed space (king room without a foldout sofa). So our other choices were to cancel the room, losing our $200 deposit, and get a room elsewhere, or get two rollaways for four nights at $25 each per night.

I’m getting a cold sore, I think. I don’t get them as bad as some people, but they’re unpleasant nonetheless.

Got a load of wash in; going over to Dunkin for half a dozen donuts and 3 pints milk. I need to drag my butt upstairs to put on my shoes and ask DC what kind of donuts they want.

I will have to look up what a super petunia looks like, blessed. Have fun in your garden!

Carried dd42 to the dealership to pick up her van so had to be out of here early.

Had to wait to spif kitchen upon return, since that was so early.

Made myself a smoothie after that (if I'm going to make a smoothie in this kitchen, all clean-up and straightening has to be done! Otherwise, no counter space large enough with an outlet!). Had pineapple left over so popped that in, too.

blessed, that vine in the color that's called "Margarita" is doing beautifully here. I couldn't be more pleased with it. At first, I didn't believe her that it would "pop" like it does if it's only green, you know? But she mentioned it so often that I took a chance on a couple, and she was right. I have no other exact flower you mention, I guess, but have the similar Bordeaux and Bubblegum and they are lovely.

I need to go over to the Outdoor thread and tell how things are going. I am pretty sure I'm not as ambitious as you have been this year (no rock moving!) but have had lots of interesting successes and an interesting failure or two.

Mystery, good job making decisions about the mattress situation - have fun! The flowers she mentioned have the one-word name "supertunia".

Well, I'm awake now, Blessed!

Just came back from getting my hair cut -had almost 9 weeks of growth. Dh left to go work some kind of raffle at the fire department. Then he's going about 3 miles from there to DS-A's and going to the races with them tonight. DGS9 is always so happy when he goes to watch him. I need to go find the post from DGS's win there a week or 2 ago. Wasn't able to share it so maybe I'll copy it here to be able to repeat what ds so aptly said.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Good Morning!

I am thankful to not have a repeat of bad sleep. That experience was a good reminder of how wonderful it feels to get a good sleep. I don't want to take that for granted.

Warning....Parental thoughts & concerns on raising DS13....totally skippable.
There is a little drama going on here. I have taken DS13 phone and devices away from him except for when he is away from home. He can carry his phone when he is away from home because I want to be able to keep in contact. DS13 makes viable choices 95% of the time, but there are some bad decisions that cross the tolerance line. He has made the same negative decision several times, so he is experiencing increasing consequences. #LifeLessons

I am thrilled that DS13 is finally reduced his work-a-holic attitude. We have had so many conversations about this over the past year. Yesterday DS13 told his boss that he wanted to leave work at 4pm. His boss asks Why. DS13 said "Because I'm a kid and my life doesn't revolve around work. I want to have fun with my friends. We are going fishing."
However, this morning DS13 called me from work and said his boss and wife had to work until 10pm last night to finish the work. I reminded DS13 that their decision and responsibilities are not his. He has nothing to feel bad about their workload. They can choose to hire more workers instead of just DS13. His responsibility is to be the very best worker when he is on the job. There is a time to work and a time to play. He needs time to be a kid.
More details than you want....DS13 and friends have caught over 30 fish in the last two evenings. They are releasing the fish in his boss newly built pond to stock it.

Back to my nutritional studies. I am currently learning about Protein to energy ratio (P:E).
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.
When life gets difficult, learn to sing & dance in the rain.

hello d Nancy! we are having a bit of a drizzle here as well! stay cozy today!

hello d lady - glad you got a good night sleep!
life lessons are harder on parents sometimes bc the kiddos don't like consequences. wouldn't it be wonderful that 13 to 17 year olds automatically understood the reason there is a consequence is bc of the choices they make. It's good that most of learn it but I know it took me time not to blame my parents for the consequences.
so happy your d son is seeing that he needs balance with work and friends. good for him! fishing sounds like fun!
the fact that he can articulate so well is due to you! instead of holding it in - he was able to get his needs met.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Every time I see howdy, I think of Minnie Pearl!

Just dropping I took to say hi. My son just left after a morning visit so that brightened up my day. I have a headache due to the predicted tropical storm. When the barometric pressure drops like that I usually get a migraine. The storm wasn’t as bad as some of the thunder storms we had, but it did give me a headache so I am in recovery mode today.

All this talking about flowers reminded me of the ones I just bought: Red Hot Poker flowers. They are perennials and new to me. A friend of mine showed me hers and I decided I could grow them in one of my big pots so I ordered some seeds. Also sent some to my brother cause he has a huge harder and grows all sorts of flowers around his home.

HOWWWWDY... I'm just so proud to be here!!! * Rose * (Hope your headache is gone by now.)
Thanks for the cheerful beginning, blessed!

Looks like a slow day here in PWYC. I waited to post till I had something (worthwhile ;) ) to tell:
TA-DA:
I have
* colored my hair,
* washed a load of clothes AND
* DGS and I rinsed off the porch and scrubbed away the bird mess, cobwebs, AND got rid of two yellow jacket nests!

:?: What should I use to clean/restore/preserve(?) porch furniture? It is wooden, a swing and two rockers. The rockers have cane-type seats. I don't want to use anything that will leave a residue when I sit on it, you know. I've never done anything to them, and they are protected from rain and sun, but still, sitting outdoors for years and years is taking it's toll on them.

We also found a snakeskin in the yard (right next to the porch steps). I have no idea what kind he is -- just hope he's not poisonous, and even if he IS a friendly snake, I certainly hope he stays out of my sight!

Earlier today, we got our normal breakfast from Hardee's, and then dgd called and wanted grilled shrimp and french fries from local restaurant, so we delivered that, along with a little bag of "get well" goodies for her. Stayed clear of ddil (who has Covid) and no physical contact with dgd, either.
Talked to dmom, who DROVE HERSELF to town and went through two drive-throughs (drug store and restaurant).

Cold sores must be catching, Dee! I have one too! I did get some of the Wmart brand Abreva, though, and started treating this one the minute I suspected it was coming. Maybe it won't be as bad as last time. I am wondering if stress has brought this on. I had one of my water-dreams again (where I am almost caught in dangerous scary flood waters) earlier this week, and it has been one of the worst weeks of my life.
Dh and I are both getting very shaggy. Only appt our hairdresser had was during our trip this week. Next (afternoon) appt is June 23. DH says he may have to start wearing a ponytail by then.

Hooray for good sleep, LadyM! And POTB for good parenting, also! Your children are so blessed to have you.
My couch stays with the house or will have to be sawn into pieces to go back out!
LOL, Nancy! That may be the story with our big-screen tv (bought before the flat screens were popular.) This is also the reason I do not have my grandmother's Duncan Phyffe (?) sofa. (It would come in the door, but not make the turn in the hall to go in the room where I wanted it. My ddad and my dh were both equally perplexed with me the day we tried this.)

Harriet, that pineapple smoothie does sound good!

Mystery -- hope the new mattress works out great! We have one of those "mushy" ones at College Town. Dgrands use it but it does seem to lose air overnight if an adult sleeps on it. Fortunately, we don't often have to use it.

DH is showering now, still complaining with a lot of pain & congestion. He did start on second round of antibiotic yesterday.
With HIS constant pain, DMom's recovery, DGD surgery/DGS here for 5 days, DDIL having Covid, DS out of town, DDIL's parents out of town, and losing my dfriend this week... I am really hovering on the edge of a crying jag about 90% of the time. I'm glad I went ahead and did the porch with dgs. He enjoyed the water and even if it's not perfect, it's better than it was. I am just PRAYING next week will be better. If dh can feel better and we can have a nice trip, it will be so great to spend a couple days away from all this chaos. (We only plan to be gone one night, but it will be well after midnight when we return home the second night.)
* Having dgs here is no trouble at all -- it's just that I am kinda worn out with being the only healthy, responsible person in the family!
Tomorrow is another day.
