Sultry summer Saturday!

It's hot outside! No wind to speak of and dh thinks we will have rain today.

The Canada summer games start today in the Niagara region, and there are road closures in our area for a triathalon. (In Canada we call areas of the province "regions" which are called "counties" in the US.) I told dh that I don't really want to head east to the falls this weekend, even though we need potatoes and onions. I will get them locally. Dh has a large basket of local peaches and a local watermelon, so he's okay for fruit.

We are having BBQed steak for supper. This one is a t bone that dh found in the freezer. I think zucchini is the veggie of the day again.

CathyS - Thanks for the start. Your meals, fresh fruits and vegetables sound enticing.

I was up before the alarm and felt ready to get started today. Routines 1, 2 and 3 are completed. The other routines are in progress.

Yes, to another sultry summer day. I know there are "Feels like" temperatures but we were reminded yesterday the surrounding makes a BIG difference.
Thursday DS13 came through the house on one of his many in/out trips and commented "Do you know it is 103 outside?" I looked at him in confusion because it has been that temperature (or hotter) for weeks. I replied "Yes, why do you ask?" His reply was "It feels so cool outside! I can't believe the thermometer says it is that hot"
Friday was the same thermometer reading but we were in the streets of downtown big city. We were surrounded by tall buildings that provided shade from the sun, but they also blocked any breeze. 99% of the ground was concrete/blacktop which reflected the heat. We are all used to the triple digit heat now and it rarely bothers us but that felt smothering hot. I adjusted our doings and kept an eye on DH to make sure he didn't get overheated.

Today has 4 things on the calendar -
** 9am-Noon DD11 and I are attending an apple canning class at the farm.
** 10:45am DH quarterly appt with family doctor to monitor his diabetes
** 1pm DMIL to her hair appt. DH will take her.
** 4pm Parent orientation for DD11 moving up to the youth class. She is not enthused about this move because she will be the youngest of the teenagers instead of being the oldest in the children's class. Hopefully, today's meeting will help ease her anxiety about this move.

DD46 has asked DS14 out for breakfast this morning to celebrate his birthday. I hope she shows up for it.

It's sultry here alright. But we had rain off and on beginning late in the afternoon yesterday. There's a good chance of storms today too. Dh has gone to Torah study this a.m. At some point this weekend he/we? are going with ds to look at furniture for his apartment. And I think dh needs a Costco trip?

I'm undecided about going to the "Friends of the library" book sale this a.m. I could go upstairs and squeeze out more time.

d lady I wish I could join your dd and you for your apple canning class.
I have done water bath canning for years but have always been a little unsure of pressure canning. So fun to do that together!
praying your dd will enjoy her coming year of school. curious - is it a small school or is it like us where there is grammar school (kindergarten to 5th grade), Middle school 6th to 8th grade then high school?
praying her fears step aside and she throughly enjoys the new adventure.

Thought of Blessedw2 when I read it. It was a 'slow' day for me but I ended up accomplishing a good deal by day's end. I try to jot down each & every little thing I do during the day and it does mount up.

DS-R was here earlier to leave a pressure washer for dh. I gave him the 2 squash (1 summer/1 zuchinni) that dh bought at our farm stand this morning. (They're here 10-12 on Saturdays). Said he took out a mortgage for a canteloupe -it was $6. But then I think what it's costing farmers to get any produce from field to table these days. It's pretty unbelievable.

DD called to 'warn' us that DBiscuit now knows how to open the door between the living area and the back porch and then of course she knows how to get that screen open. Dsonil went out this morning and closed the door. Next he knew DBiscuit was right behind him.

Dh is going to watch the races tonight -both DGSs race. DDIL-A is going to pick him up and bring him home. He's decided he's just not able to drive it himself anymore. For one thing it's getting too hard after dark and I also think as he gets more tired, it's more difficult. He definitely hates not being able to be as independent. As it is, DSonil is going to fly up in November to drive dh back to FL -at least that's the present plan.

Our schools are the same here, Blessed. K-5; 6-8; 9-12. DGS10 moves up to middle school this year too. All 3 of our DGGSs will attend the same elementary this year. The twins in Kdg and DBrey in 1st. He's repeating 1st as he missed so much school because of his seizures. He's still seizure free btw. So grateful for that.

DGD27 was texting me this week. They finally discovered that DGwen now 6 or 7 weeks old has a milk protein allergy. So dgd has altered her own diet and has no dairy products. Baby seems to be doing so much better. She had been very colicky.

hello everyone!!!!

we had our first corn from the garden yesterday. really good.

It's going to be very hot and humid with no breeze.
I am going to water out front and in pumpkin bed - I know I should wait until tonight but this is the only zone that hasn't been watered
I woke at 6:30 and thought I would just lay down just a few more minutes - I woke at 9:42 nope nope nope - I don't enjoy that. I was in a dream where dh and I had to move out of a place we were staying and the clutter and work never stopped.

move hose to pumpkin area -
hand water out front
I am taking this day as it comes. a putzing day. work without work.

I am looking at how much I can manage right now.

Rooms that I can't manage - causes me visual stress : family room still has the 3 season room stuff in it. I have decided that I really need to limit this room.

body needs work and exercise

I have low visual clutter threshold and it's time for me to adjust my home again to what I can handle.

Oh my goodness yes it’s hot!
I am questioning my decisions today.
Remember I said I promised dgrands we would go swimming?
Well, it turns out today is big membership party.
I was not prepared to bring food, and not prepared physically or emotionally to deal with large crowd of socializing.
So I talked dgrands into going to the splash pad. It’s pretty crowded here too, but I don’t know anyone here so I can sit and read . Physically, allergies are still making me crazy.
I told dgrands we’d try for Wed at the pool.
