SAUNA SUNDAY
Not sure how it is where you live -but here in Western New York -it's a "Sauna". We'll be spending much of the day inside I'm afraid. We actually had breakfast over at DS-R & DDIL's and there was a nice breeze over there. Not quite so here.
Had an interesting night (NOT). As if I didn't have hard enough time staying asleep -I was awake around 3 and kept hearing a chirping noise. I methodically unplugged everything in our bedroom one by one to no avail. Finally came out to the main living area and it was louder. Finally pinned it down to our smoke alarm up in the high ceiling. Kinda waited for dh to wake up hearing it and finally asked, "Are you awake?" Had to get a ladder and he took it down and it kept beeping. I thought it was hard wired. Not so. But then, he couldn't figure out how to get the battery out and finally put it outside on the deck. I could still hear it and went out and put it out on our golf cart. DS-R managed to get it open this morning. It's a 9-volt battery and it's never been changed in the 11 years we've owned this RV. Looked at the date on it (an E nergizer) and it says 12 2022. Could eventually see it said it would need changing in 10 years. It's actually been active almost 12 -we know this because this RV was transported to Hershey, PA in November, 2010. (It was supposed to not be delivered from Indiana to Churchville NY until May of 2011). Figure that's a long time for a battery. Hopefully we'll never have to change it again.
Oh, great! Dh just said, "It's the first time I've felt it." What asked I -the Afib. Seems he has some discomfort in his chest. He's now in the recliner and we'll see if he remains. If so I see another trip to ER in our near future.

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
It's hot here as well. I had started just after you posted with a reference to the "Dog Days of Summer." I deleted and am moving over here.
I think my maternal grandparents planted and went by the Farmers' Almanac and Mother used to refer to the Dog Days of Summer now and then. I remember her saying that my grandfather (Daddy Roy) always planted on Good Friday too.
Here's a couple of articles.

The short story is that it's related to the rising of the Dog Star, Sirius, which ancients believed contributed additional heat to the sun.

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
It's a sauna here as well. [Sad to report all of our alledged igloos have melted. That's why they are built in swimming pool-like enclosures. LOL!! (No, there aren't any igloos where I live.)] Joking between these brackets because Canada doesn't have igloos but people think we do.
Tonight's supper will be made in the same style as a tuna casserole, but I used medium shells instead of elbow macaroni and the meat will be smoked turkey thigh instead of tuna. No cheese. (I knew someone who used to cover her tuna casseroles with sliced cheese that had been individually wrapped in plastic.) I don't know if I will add finely chopped onion or leave it out. It all depends on whether dh asks for onion.
We went to a local grocery store instead of going to the falls this morning so we could avoid roads that are closed in our area today.

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
((((Dee)))) I have wondered if your DH showed up at ER if they would admit him and speed up getting those needed test done.
Our weather pattern is same-oh boring day after day of triple-digit.
The morning has been smooth with most daily routines accomplished. I've got the kids up and going. We leave for church in 5 minutes.
The bread maker has been filled and going so we will come home to the smell of freshly baked bread. We will have it along with smoked pulled chicken and a vegetable for lunch.

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
I'm wondering the same thing, Lady M. He was just yesterday bemoaning the fact that he has to wait so long for the scan and nearly a month to see the cardiologist. I'm WATCHING AND LISTENING! Just went into my computer and printed out his newest list of meds -it changed on Tuesday. So now have it JIC.((((Dee)))) I have wondered if your DH showed up at ER if they would admit him and speed up getting those needed test done.

I am sure it's heading your way d dee - we are Chicago area. it's 72 degrees and it is supposed to reach 80 which is an amazing break.

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
Dee, I hate it when those things start chirping! We've had it happen several times over the years and it always made the dog crazier than it made me, and that's saying something. DD used to talk about one time when it happened when we were away, and I think it was Muffin was huddled against the bottom of the ladder she was using to try to get to the smoke alarm.
Dh has gone to Costco and we'll go to the river this afternoon with friends. We're taking steaks to grill there.
We had a better day yesterday after airing out our grievances when he got home yesterday. We went to see "Top Gun" in a theatre yesterday afternoon and had supper out at a deli type place. Not a heavy meal. It was the first time I had been in a theatre in more that 2.5 years. I don't care to see most movies out these days (too much science fiction, blood, gore, shooting, not entertainment to me.)
This week the kitchen will continue to come back together. We get counters on Tuesday afternoon. I'm trying to pull together what I have happening this week.
Oh, Dee, not again! I'm so sorry, it would be a blessing if those tests could get speeded up, tho.

Bw2... I was joking. That's why I said "alledged" igloos, because we don't have any igloos here but people think we do.

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
I hadn't thought you had igloos where you were at but thought since you mentioned it for further up north that maybe I was wrong. Oh my gosh too too funny. we used to go to above the tree line and never saw anything like that - I laughed so so hard. I was, even, going to look it up!!!

Re: SAUNA SUNDAY
I had pulled out too many things yesterday but I got some canned items donated and most put on a shelves that dd recommended: she was right - it's like two grocery store shelves of the the things we use on a regular basis. I can actually see what we have - I donated the extra.
Now to go upstairs and see what I have left from my covid shopping.
