Our kitchen counters are beautiful! It's beginning to feel like a real kitchen, if they aren't careful I'll start sticking things into my new cabinets. Actually, there's a lot still to come together but it is looking good.

Dh went over to friends' house with a bottle of wine for his retirement yesterday afternoon - and called me that they invited us for dinner so I went on over. She is the extreme overachiever and kind of drives me crazy. But it was enjoyable to have a meal with them - she roasted a chicken, made a salad and then corn in the microwave. She also did an appetizer of Asian dumplings.

I'm still struggling to get my writing finalized. How much do I leave in? How much do I take out? Is it really important to the family history? I'm at least making a list of those places to go back to.

Not sure what's happening here today. No one here yet. I have laundry to hang up going in the washer.

I was up before dawn, bc I turned off the a/c had to turn is back on it got stuffy in the night then went back to bed
slept a bit then up at 4 :00 Took a walk after my shower and am glad I got ready to go.
Had bfast yum!

Good morning! Any morning that my eyelids open is good. I am optimistic so see blessings even in mornings like today.

The first day of school.
A day filled with firsts. Stress high. Anxiety high.

DD46 showed up with a big box of donuts while we were getting dressed and ready to leave for public school. The kids appreciated her acknowledging their special day.

Homeschool has been rocky this morning. I'm tolerant of most things but there is a line you don't cross. Mr. I know everything DS14 had a sassy attitude that exceeded my tolerance level a couple times this morning. We stopped homeschooling and cleared the air, so he understood that I have NO problem with putting him back into public school. It can be accomplished within the next hour. He instantly made the decision to change his attitude because he wants to continue being homeschooled.

I am so very thankful that I spent the time this summer researching & selecting the curricula and planning each class. Having the detailed daily assignments for each of the 7 classes makes it much easier to do homeschool. Don't stress - just do the next assignment.

I set the alarm for myself and followed through.
I took a nap yesterday at 4:30 - I had planned on resting my legs but, dang it all, I fell asleep and woke up at 7:30 pm.
I fell asleep again at midnight.

I am waiting for landscapers so that I could go outside again - it's going to be 75 degrees and for August in Chicago - that is pretty unusual! I am taking it in and hoping that it goes south and east to all of you in those areas.

d lady I can not believe school starts today!!! I agree there is a line that should't be crossed. glad the air was cleared. You are a good mom and teacher!!!

I remember being a kid and going right after the holiday. I don't know why we have gotten so early for kids.

okay before I get stuck on the computer I think I better get started. The landscape people are usually here by now to cut the grass. Not yet. I want them done so I can take the dogs outside with me to continue the weeding zone project.

I think our kids went back to school this week also. We used to start the day after labor day.

Big accomplishment here. The guy came to trim the 3 palm trees out front. They were all shaggy and had big seed fronds. I don't mind this, but the seeds drop and grow all through the yards if we don't do this. The fronds at the bottom die and fall off. It's a constant problem if we don't do this. I'm glad we found this guy, he's very reasonable. He came while DH was out riding his bike in the neighborhood and I called him to come back. The guy said he'd be back in a few minutes and went off to get his ladder. He must live nearby. DH came back first and stood a ladder up into the tree.

He and I dragged all the fronds over out of the Island to a couple piles to be picked up by the county when they come by. They drive around every week and they have a claw truck and they pick stuff up and take it away. We don't even have to call any more. Sometimes it takes a couple weeks for them to get everything if their trucks are full.

Now I am really really hot. It's dripping wet humidity out there.

I've done dailies. Woke up sleepy. Still sleepy. I feel a nap coming on.

Like you, Harmony, trucks come through every week to pick up branches piled by the road. They stopped doing it for a while this past year as they were understaffed. Go figure!

Wasn't feeling real good last night but slept unbelievably well. Fit bit says I got over 9 hours. I was up a little before 6 and took my thyroid med and potty break. Went back to bed till a little after 7 and decided to get up. I was leary for a while that I might not be able to make our appointment for our car inspection this afternoon, but I feel ok now.

Did the dishes and got my hair washed.

DD told me a couple of days ago what they plan to do in our bathroom. Know their friend/contractor gave them a price of $8,000. She got a couple more prices which started around $15,000. Guess which way she's going. He's taking out everything except the linen closet: vanity, mirror, walls, shower, floor, walls. They're putting all new towel fixtures in and handicap rails in the shower, new walls, new floor (they have plenty of flooring left from the kitchen and will use that -it's perfect). The sink/faucet we bought not too long ago, as well as the toilet. Hate for them to spend the money after just doing the kitchen last year, but it has to be done. It's probably about 25 years old and the pan under the shower has leaked into the flooring and walls. We will help as much as we can. She did tell me 'rent is going up 25%'. We don't pay rent but we do spend $$ on things there as they come up. Know their electric is going up by a lot this year so will help them figure how to lower consumption. They're hoping to have the bathroom done before we come down.

I turned the AC on when I went to bed (in our bedroom only) last night. Then somewhere around 4a.m. I got up and turned the heat on. It's such a roller-coaster. I've had the fantastic fan on for quite a while and now I'm sweating. But we're leaving in about an hour to go for the car inspection, grocery shopping, post office, and dinner so will wait for the AC till we get back (if we need it).

I am updating the firmware on fitbit so I must sit still for 20 minutes. I might have ADHD since that seems like a demanding thing to do.

I took a peek at our weather forecast and I'm getting excited. A week from today it looks like we will drop 10 degrees and will have temperatures in the 90's. I am ready for that change!

d lady I think you are so used to working all day that sitting to have the Fitbit update is kind of boring for the moment. praying for nice temps to come your way!

It's very sweet that your dd wants to do things for you! I can't wait to hear about the work as it is being done!

I have struggled with self esteem since I was young. It hits me every so often when I fall behind. I am glad I have a tendency see things with joy but continue to be very hard on myself when things fall behind. I don't seem to grasp that what needs doing will take time. I have found sticking with one project at a time makes things better; I just have to be careful to not let my routines go. (lol I am also surrounded by born organized people).

Today I have been weeding in zone 1 - d dogs love when I am sitting on the ground bc they either sit on my lap or bring me balls to throw - It was wonderful bc the breeze and the temperature are perfect. I will remember this during the winter.

My local garden shop has brassica's again and I am thinking of planting some in the back where the sun hits and is empty.
