Friday in the Focus Footprints Conga Line

Post by Harriet »

What dance are you doing today? :)

Are you Focus-ing as you waltz around one particular area?

Following someone's "footprints" left behind, like learning a new dance?

Are you jumping in the Conga line to ♪ ♫ swish and swipe all through the house? ♪ ♫

I took my Focus for a drive to Wally World. I needed some less expensively priced Greek yogurt and I was on the hunt for some sort of sausage for the BBQ tonight.

Supper, therefore, will be BBQed sausages, a packet of potatoes and onions and green peppers and a packet of green beans. Maybe a zucchini, I don't know if dh picked any this morning.

Good morning!

Harriet - Thanks for the start today.

I am not at 100% today but I've decided to go into "fake it until I make it" mode.

DS14 phone did not recover after sitting in rice for 36 hours. I put his sim card into DH old phone and DS14 is using it to get by until a replacement phone arrives. That old phone will only hold a charge for a couple of hours so DS14 must charge the phone multiple times a day. DS14 is traveling with his boss today to a job site about 1.5 hours away. The family link app is not installed on that old phone so my ability to monitor DS14 isn't available. After several phones were eliminated for one reason or another, we finally found a replacement phone that meets my requirements and his. That phone will arrive on Monday so DS14 will have a few more days of the pain of not having a fully working phone. IMHO that is a good consequence and will hopefully make him more careful in the future.

DD11 just brought me the broken handle from the refrigerator. It seems today is my day to spend time/effort/money on replacement and/or repairs to things the kids break.

Team cleaning will happen this morning.

I'm meeting DSis for lunch today to celebrate Daddy's birthday and reminisce. DBro is traveling (New Mexico) so he won't be able to join us.

Sitting down now to check in again. I also visited with dneighbor across the street - she and her dh got a new dog a couple of weeks ago and I hadn't met her.

This morning tile people are working away at their craft and it's looking good. And going faster than I dreamed. Dcleaning lady is working her magic where she can. Project manager says that cabinets, painted inside are heading this way also. (Whoops, I think he put them in the garage without me knowing, cause they're out there now.

I ordered the magnetic door close thingies that dh wants. I made a deal with him that we would put these on and try them. And I'll choose what goes on the drawers. The joys of having a dh who wants to be involved with house choices. Dfriend M's dh doesn't care - my father didn't care - so his involvement always surprises me.

Yesterday was non productive. I'll try to get in three or four hours upstairs today with Harriet's focus offer!

Feel better, LadyM. Enjoy time reminiscing. Doesn't everyone have fridge handles break off in their hands?

Greek yogurt sounds delish, Cathy.

As for me. Sigh. Double sigh.

Electrician(s) came. It will be a big, big charge to do the work needed. We only thought the attachment to the house needed to be redone, but it's a lot more than that. The fuse box for this old house cannot stay where it is located and pass a new inspection. Replacing any breaker would mean taking an old breaker from other old-house stock to do it, since these are not made any more, so electric repair companies won't do it because they can't guarantee it's not dangerous. Also, when it is replaced by an all-outdoor system, this will take 2 days without electricity.

:?

I'm not sure I can live through 2 days without my computer. Panic may set in. (not to mention cleaning out the fridge/freezer down to nothing)

Oh, well. Makes the chair purchase look pretty ordinary, lol.

Dd42 and I are carpooling it today. I'll pick her up at her car's dealership, carry her back later, and then she'll help me drop my car off at mine.

today I don't feel like being a social animal with anybody or anything. I adore dh, d family and d dogs but I will say my head needs to have some quiet. That's the problem of living near neighbors - I miss living out in the woods in farmland or my mom's conservation property in the woods on the lake. Here it's noisy all the time. - the summer of covid 2022 was the first time we had quiet. nature only. It was wonderful!

Suburb and city noise does not bother dh. It never has.
I will say I need the sound of nature without too many people soon.

------------------------------------------------
I have a new goal written on my table that the whole family agrees with:

"We want our house to be easy to use"

we are still struggling with that but are getting there. We are so close.

We are going to meet together this weekend to see how we can get this to be a reality. We are going to all look at the house and see what we, as individuals" want out of it and how we can reach that goal for each of us.

I want simplicity and a home where I can invite people over for tea/coffee.
I want it easy to clean
dh wants the outside siding and roof done

---------------------------------------------------------------------

time to set the timer.
water outside pots
change pool water
change animal and bird water
turn hose on zone 4

Sorry to see the 'problems' LadyM and Harriet are having =sure there are others as well. Oh yes, Twins with her pulls. (When dd did her kitchen last year, Twins, the contractor put in all soft close drawers and doors -nice!)

I've been watching all morning for wasps in here. Done away with 5 so far. Not sure if dh is to blame -he cleaned out the wasp traps outside with our mini vac and then taped it shut and put it back on its charger. I think that either they are somehow escaping (and he still has to dispose of them somehow) or they've found a tiny hole somewhere to gain access to the interior.  I took the mini vac outside JIC.

As I said our dinner last night was "so-so" and expensive. So today I was looking at our receipt and it was over $1 less -then I found the actual receipt from the cash register that shows an "Admin Fee". Okay, I think we won't be stopping there any more. I actually prefer "M ission Barbecue" anyway and it was even a bit cheaper. Besides this restaurant is very tiny and is very hard to get into/out of the parking lot which is also extremely small.

I also will NOT MAKE THIS SAME MISTAKE TWICE! I always order water as I really don't like paying the price of a soda, etc. For some reason I ordered D iet C oke. At 5am this morning I was still awake but fell asleep shortly after. I even took 2 T ylenol PM about 3am. Can't tell you how many times I was up for a potty break and even met dh a couple of times. Fell asleep until about 7, got up for 'break' and took my Thyroid med. Went back to sleep for over 2 more hours. Got 4 hours/14 minutes all told. Definitely not enough.
I will say my head needs to have some quiet
"We want our house that is really easy to use"
I definitely hear you on both of these, Blessed. I too, have written that second one down and am setting it as a goal for at least 1 thing each day! ;)
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!
