Saturday, Steadfast

Post by Harriet »

Homemakers are Steadfast for sure. We've got this.

To be Steadfast means "fixed, firm, and staying strong" and some of its synonyms are "ardent, constant, unyielding".

Thinking of so many in our village staying strong at the moment.

Interesting to me that the definition and the synonyms point as much to resistance against something as they do for something!

It's not just being stubborn, it's being stubborn for cause. It's not just being determined, it's determining what you're capable of.

It reminds me that Gloria said, "Did you think I'd crumble?" That Beyonce said, "You must not know about me". And Lorrie Morgan said, "Don't tell me that it can't be done. Watch me."

Well, the songwriters said all that anyway, lol!

For what pursuit, or against what obstacle, are you going to be Steadfast today?

Beyonce also said, "I won't lose a wink of sleep." Hmmm... ..

Oh well! It's only 3 something, right? :lol:

After the appt we went to grocery and bought just some comfort foods we'd thought of as rewards for a steadfast week! I've had little stickers on my planner for each weekday: "You Can Do It!", "Way to Go", "Bravo", a thumbs-up, and "A+". I feel seriously stubborn, but somehow not sleepy. HRH has been purring away since 11:00 at least.

Dd43 and the children got back in about 9:30 safe and sound. I think dd24 went ahead and spent the night anyway, even though they were home half a day earlier than they thought. She'll visit us tomorrow.

Got one load of laundry done, drip dry. The new broccoli sprouts watered and turned. Plants watered. More organizing and pondering in the sewing area, which looks really good.

Morning…

Harriet… sorry sleep is escaping you. I have finally found a good rhythm for myself, although it means I’m back on my Zoloft. Without it I seldom reach deep sleep or stay there. And I use stickers in my daily planner to chart my progress…food, steps, water and exercise.

I was busy yesterday with exercise class, coffee gathering… with is really like a very informal tow hall meeting for our community…trip to Sams, kohls, to do Amazon returns, the dollar store for kids Easter cards, and then to our community office to get a sticker for my car which will automatically open our gates. Oh and in between I did several loads of laundry.

I need to spend sometime around my home putting things away that have been left out. I bought some plastic glasses the other day and need to do some major rearranging in my kitchen before I put them away. I still have Mardi Gras decorations that need to be put up and swapped with my Easter things and that too requires some climbing to reach the top shelves in my closet. Also need to water my soldiers.

I am watching the morning news as I drink my coffee.

Up next:
Get dressed
Morning routines… swish toilets, pickup footprints, make bed
Water my soldiers
Fold laundry
Put away decorations and put up new ones
Rearrange kitchen cabinets
Clean Fred’s home
Make sure I drink my water… I’ve been fighting that
Get my steps in

My reward will be finishing my book. I’m about to find out who done it and why. Too tired to finish it last night.

Waving to y’all…see ya later :D

I'm glad Harriet has stickers for her planner. I don't have to feel as bad for forgetting to say how much I admire her steadfastness in this. WTGG!

Sorry I didn't come back last night.

I never got a call to tell me to pick up dh but when I was on the phone with him the nurse came in and gave him some instructions and said he could go so I heard that and headed over. He said he'd wait in the lobby for me, but we live close enough that even though it was Friday Rush Hour, I got over before he could get downstairs (but only by 2 minutes, I never had a chance to sit down.)

Dinner was on the trays by 5:50 and we watched a movie (We've Got a Ghost, which I really enjoyed.) Then I surfed for a while, cleaned up the kitchen and then went to bed, lights out before 10. He was really tired "despite having slept for over an hour in the afternoon" (!!!!)

He had a rough night, up 4 times to pee (I figure it is the dye coming out of him) and his wrist/hand/arm is a bit sore and itchy and unusable and it is his right arm so he feels useless. He has to keep it dry for at least 48 hours so, surprise, no showers. I figure since that's only to keep it dry, I can put him on the shower stool (thanks to a neighbour who loaned us one) and wash him off with the shower wand. If he had known, he would have showered yesterday morning.

I had a reasonable sleep, only up 2x and didn't know about his other 2 times.

I'm going to try to get to the book sale this morning with him. He's bored because he can't do any of his exercises either. Or lift anything or open heavy doors with that arm. Maybe we'll go out for breakfast after the book sale.

I am up by 6:00 today it is getting lite now the clouds have a touch of color. R. 21* L. 44* H. for today's temps.
Rain tomorrow.

\Christmas Prep. Card/ I am counting this...
I finished the seams on a bag now to use seam ripper for the opening to put in premade crochet drawstring.
This one is nearly perfect. I like not having to do the top band on these they are easier.
Grinch mobile inset piece going up the center of the front & back is rather cute. :mrgreen:

I have inked in some of the stuff on my new planner flowers plants and design some words to use
my brush marker on later! This set up is for a week.

I got inspired to draw up some designs on dot grid pages in my other planner,
I can move to the new one for daily page stuff.
Today is my last bujo page day so need to decide on what I will be using for it and doing some of the fun floral designs I have for that as well.

I have left overs for meals.
Just regular stuff and pick out Sun. clothes card is up as well.

~~~Waving Hi to all~~~~
Harmony - you are without a doubt a better helpmate than I am. I am too scared to be working with raw sewage. I wonder if there is anything you won't or can't do.
I'm so glad to see Ken home safely after his procedure. When will you get the results?
Twins - how was the dinner party?
I was up and ready to get started on my day at 6am. I enjoy the high energy and productivity of the early mornings. I have completed all the tasks assigned to the first 3 hours of my day.
We are taking DS14 and one of his friends to the big city today. We have a loose plan to eat at a local famous steakhouse, rent/ride scooters downtown, play top golf, go to multiple level shopping mall and a stop at cabalas and bass pro shop. I'm not sure we can fit all this into the day, but hopefully most of it will be able to happen.
Hi!
Woke up around 8 and dh said we needed to get to the grocery store as soon as possible because it was snowing again. By the time I got dressed, brushed my hair, etc., and we got out the door, it wasn't snowing. We went to the closest grocery store and grabbed some navel oranges and some grapes and some beef ribs for tomorrow night. When we came home I had something to eat.
Dh went to a local farm to get some free range eggs, so I took that opportunity to sweep and mop the floors. They haven't been too bad for the past 48 hours, so I actually skipped them yesterday.
Today I had to deal with laundry. Dh brings a dryer load into the bedroom without folding it, so I need to put it back into the dryer and put it through a "wrinkle free" cycle and then take it out and put it all away. Today I am doing a household load, for towels, tea towels, facecloths, etc. It's in the dryer now.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.
Good morning!
We had snow overnight, and I woke up to temperatures about 7F below the predicted low for the day. Brr! Well, to the best of my knowledge, I don’t have to go out today.
I do not envy Harmony one bit! Even if your regular septic guy has retired, there must be someone who could be hired. Although I imagine they must be paid a pretty penny to deal with it.
I hope Harriet is not too bleary today. Likewise Ken with his many potty trips and Kathryn, who was at least awake enough to be aware of those potty trips.
I need to figure out what needs to be done around here — DH is actually home, not proctoring a test or out on a campout. I know I need to wash bathroom rugs so I can clean the bathroom and swap out the linens.
Dd43 called and awakened me at 9:30. I heard HRH come into the room, saying to her that he thought he saw my eyeballs but he was wrong, they were hiding. He didn't know about my strange night. Anyway, I was glad to get the report from her about their trip and the funeral.
So I got my thyroid pill down at the approximate usual time. That's something to think about as my schedule keeps trying to go wonky - there are a few absolutes on the schedule. I did take one pain pill last evening after supper, but it didn't seem to help with relaxing.
I'm glad to have been awakened to get my first glass of water, too. Ramblin' has a point about water. I think that's another thing probably important for me not to miss. Glad Fred is enjoying a spiffy house.
Oh, Nancy, you are getting ready for Christmas like a prepared person. Wow. Probably having fun, too.
Hoping Ken in Canada has a quick recovery from being winged.
Oranges sound delish, Cathy.
About who-done-it books - I ordered two paperback copies of Stone Maidens yesterday after hearing the story of the author (Richards), who finally got his fiction manuscript published in 2012, only to have it fizzle. His dd took to social media to show videos she took behind her ddad's back, showing him working so hard at writing his sequel anyway, and to tell that she wished a few more people would read the first book so his sequel might have an audience. As those few found out it was really a good book, and told more and more, it has become a grassroots bestseller more than a decade after publication. You can't find it at libraries, because they were surprised by this of course and the waiting lists are long, but it's cheap. so one goes to dd43. It probably has terrible parts because it's police/crime, not as "cozy", but the backstory gets it into my gift closet.
Good Saturday morning to all!
The dinner party last night went well and they were gone by 9:45ish. Nice evening with nice group. I'm just tired and achy today. Dh did most of clean up last night and ran the dishwasher. I'm finishing up this morning while waiting for invisible fence trainer for dog, who is on his way.
DH went to Torah study. I never know whether he comes home after or goes to Costco or somewhere else. It would be nice if he was here for dog training but whatever. I just took her for a walk around the circle.
I've had 62K steps this week so far so I'll hit 63K - 9 K daily average - before the day is out. I'm resisting upping my goal from 7500 daily, however. My weight is finally beginning to move downward ever so slightly.
-----------------------------
I didn't get this posted earlier...dog trainer has come and gone. Dh is home. He and A, the dh of the river friend couple, are going to the home show and Costco this afternoon. They'll bring over their leftovers from their dinner last night (they also hosted synagogue members) and we'll be together awhile. But I'll have the afternoon quiet and free.
