Thursday in the halls of the SHE clubhouse

Post by Harriet »

Have a good day, everyone! I hope the halls of the SHE clubhouse are soon ringing with nothing but happy news!

said Mystery yesterday.

Hoping for many reports of good night sleeps. No comment from me, but I hope to hear it from you guys!
Especially Kathryn, who needs rest.

Dee
, you did fine - I understood what you were posting completely.

I am sorta dragging in from a binge, embarrassed. We had a party-supper the night after I rang the bell and only dd's fiancé brought me any sensible food and that was burritos with enough ingredients that there must have been something healthy in there. There was gift candy. And then there was some more candy, I think - it's a sort of a sugar blur. Then yesterday was an all-wrong sleep schedule day BUT got out to pharmacy 1 and 3 and got scripts for us plus one more errand all by myself, so I'm proud of that even though it was nap-causing. First of new topical applied and it didn't seem to affect me - was supposed to look for allergy and I don't believe I have one. So I can do that for the week and reach another little milestone.

Today is healthy eating or bust day here. We've been up since way too early, neither making sense of the clock. We need to make a grocery trip sooooooo bad.

I have things I can say in the Creative Home - yay, me. Need to look for Twins' posting in Outdoor Spaces.

I had a lot of sleep last night but will need more to fully recover. This morning, I'm discovering all the things I didn't do right before bed. The thing I did do right was lights out before 9 p.m. with my teeth brushed and all meds taken. I slept for 7 solid hours and then dozed for 3.

I posted this in the wrong day last night:
No time to cuop.

I need to contact the hospital but have to stay up until 7:45 because of shift change briefings. I had meant to call before 6:45 but it took longer to get dgs to bed than I anticipated. He's in bed 75 minutes early but exhausted.

I'm beyond exhausted and frustrated.

I'm getting sicker due to lack of sleep. If I'm sick I can't visit dh. I'm heart broken.

Dgs slept in my arms for 3 hours today but during that time I couldn't nap. I was trying to get him down again in my arms and my sister called.

Please note: I sent out a note last night saying please do not contact me directly, I'm exhausted, I'm sick, and if I'm sick I can't see dh. And yet I had one appointment today (the bed is set up now), dd and dgd were here (and useless for getting me any sleep because dgs screamed whenever I went out of sight, and when I suggested we drive over to the hospital and I'd visit dh for a few minutes and dd could move the car to a mall a 1/2 mile away, and then pick me up, she decided she was too tired to drive.)

My sister called. The front door phone and the business phone had 4 unsolicited calls. And multiple FB Messenger and text messages. Some important, some just chatting. So I had to stop and look at my phone each and every time.

I'm going to go brush my teeth and get ready for bed so I can be in bed at 8 after the phone call.

I'm going to shut down my computer (not suspend because it comes up out of that for skype and Messenger calls.)

I'm going into full Do Not Disturb. I'll tell the hospital to call the house phone and I'll put a handset that rings in our bedroom before I turn off the light.

So I have 30 minutes to get ready for bed and clean up the kitchen from dinner prep.
The breathing tube came out during the day and I talked to his nurse last night who said that he said he was stoned and she said it was their fault cuz of the drugs he's on. He'll be in the ICU for more days because of the meds he's on.

After 12 hours of sleep, straight through (he woke but settled himself each time), dgs is his normal personality and playing happily in the other room right now. He (and I) has a very runny nose and wet coughs, but he has his appetite back and he singing and dancing as he moves between toys. He was playing the piano and singing, but playing an interactive song for himself (singing as he pressed a note, "One, two, three, STOP" and jumped back from the piano and standing still, then repeating it.)

If this mood persists, we'll go to the agriculture museum barns to see the animals. We won't go inside the other buildings because he's dripping too much.

Ah, Harriet I lost that post in Outdoor spaces. Need to go over there to recreate soon. I have a lot of thoughts running through my head.

I only have my workout today and dh and I will have supper out. Quiet day. I'll try to do a few other things along the way!

So glad that perhaps Kathryn and ds have turned the corner. Now we need to get Ken out of ICU and well again!

Stopping by to check on DSHE's and family members. I am thankful to see many are having good moments.

My day is on a normal schedule. DD11 has been delivered to school with a happy chat on the drive. DS14 is working on his 995 questions of pre-test. The first 3 rooms of the hourly schedule have been given attention. My 250 steps & hourly exercises are on track.

I have updated my garden notes with events. Yesterday I transplanted two broccoli seedlings and two brussel sprout seedlings from under the inside lights to outside raised bed #2. Now it is about monitoring & patience to see how many of these plants survive until they can be harvested in 90 days. Will the cutworms get them? Will we have extreme weather? Will the gopher/mole eat them? Time will tell.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

I've vowing to get my day started earlier instead of wandering down rabbit holes. I did go over to Outdoor Spaces and rewrite that post.

I'm debating myself about working on weekly cleaning today. I had been thinking I would do it in the off week when dcleaning lady wasn't coming, now it's time again. Thinking I would do kitchen and bathrooms today and dusting and vacuuming tomorrow. My Own Cleaning Services has issues with showing up however.

This morning dh said he thinks he's getting allergic to the dog. She's been sleeping on our bed, and sometimes even his pillow. I told him it could be seasonal allergies too, and we have a supply of the Flonase stuff I use that we get at Costco.

Composting and recycling have been taken to the road and they have both been picked up already AND I already brought the compost bin back to the patio.

I stripped the bed and washed the fitted sheet. It's already dried and waiting to go back on the bed. The 2 big cats are both sleeping on the bed.

All of the inside plants have been watered.

Some sort of pasta for supper. Maybe mac and cheese from a box.

Dh's sneezing and nose blowing seems to have ended. He's pale.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Morning…still

Glad to see Kathryn’s DH is recovering well and both she and her dgs are feeling better.

Hope all is well with Dee and hers.

I’m having an off day, but am ok with it. I’m sure there will be more to come as I begin to navigate our new journey. Lots of information on the importance of the caregiver for people with dementia. In fact I am somewhat surprised of this focus. The title of caretaker wasn’t recognized, labeled or applied to people who cared for people with dementia until the mid 90’s.

This afternoon Sweeties and my appointment with his new dr is more an intake sort of thing. It is now the new concept to treat both spouses as one. Both of us will be interviewed, because a patient with dementia may not be aware of his or her own changes while the caretaker has a better idea of how these symptoms are effecting the person. And as time progresses the caretaker is given more information that the patient because the patient is unable to process it. That means I will be making major decisions concerning Sweeties health.

I feel the weight of this, but thankfully Sweetie and I have had many discussions about his future and what his wishes are. I’m sure there will be more to discuss as time goes on and we are presented with more challenges. I have always believed knowledge is power but sometimes knowing the future can be daunting as well.

Like Twins and her husband, we have plans to eat out for dinner. I always look forward to times like this, because some of our best conversations have occurred across a restaurant table, and I’m sure we will have plenty to talk about. A glass of wine won’t hurt either :D

I was able to replant my barrels this morning. Hopefully the new seeds will grow. I bought bird netting to place over them. Mose sunnies won’t begin to sprout for another week so I have time to cut the netting.

In the meantime my laundry is spinning and I am in the process of folding a load. Need to make my lunch as well. I’m hungry!

RRose, so smart the way they are treating both together like that. When Covid hit and I could no longer go into doctor's offices with DH his level of care went way way down. He did not remember to ask questions and did not remember to tell me what the dr. said. Now that I'm going back to the doctor with him things are better. We found out the way a knee operation will affect the ankle resulting in another operation to straighten that also...because I mentioned that he would be getting this done. DH never thought to mention it. Plus, the dentist stuff wouldn't have gotten done for him if I hadn't accompanied and made appointments.

Thinking about that, I just talked to him about what he's going to do ongoing about other stuff with his teeth and I have to make another appointment for him. We need to look at the list together and decide what he wants to have done. There are things on the list he doesn't want to bother with.

We have a meeting tonight with our small group. Both of us missed it last week. I find it a challenge to get out on Thursday night for some reason I'm usually tired then. DH doesn't always remember. Plus we don't meet every week, most of the others attend a different church and they go to a function there together some Thursdays. We all started this group, all of us attending our church, but a bunch of them left and went to another. I don't feel like we fit in there any more. But since we don't have other groups of people we socialize with, it's important we stay attached to some other people somewhere. Our neighborhood isn't the getting-together kind either, and with no family nearby, we're kinda isolated here. My Friday study helps me but not him.

So I need to go out and get stuff to make for our brunch my group is having tomorrow. And I need to see if anybody is bringing something tonight. Kinda don't wanna get out, but I must as I'm signed up.

Hope everybody keeps getting better and things move along smoothly for everyone.
