Touching Tuesday
What is going to benefit from your touch today?
Will it be part of your home, cleaned or organized?
Will it be your family being guided, cared for, or a support to lean on?
Will it be a person who needs your compassion or humor or listening ear?
Will it be a group touched by your work to keep the group running by writing up minutes, organizing an event, or hearing your ideas in a meeting?
Will it be you, caring for yourself through good nutrition, good hydration, good exercise, good rest?

Re: Touching Tuesday
I'm on split focus today so my touching goals are:
Touching on the kitchen to get the Tuesday weekly house blessing chores done.
Touching on my church work which is three fold - supporting the church musician, prepping for my Sunday meeting, organizing and reviewing my notes from my two committees.
Touching on my grandkids by reading another 2 chapters of our book.
Touching on my community by calling a meeting and getting myself up-to-date with all that I've been doing, finishing off those tasks I've done 'just enough to get by' and then leaving unfinished on the dining room table.
Touching on household paperwork activities. None are huge, all are niggly.
Touching myself through a balance of computer activities, housework (away from the computer), exercise/activity outside the home. I had an excellent sleep last night, now I need to capitalize on that by having an excellent day. Stretches will be part of my day as my legs are sore from yesterday's vacuuming and my walk. So I suppose my big goal for that will be to set up my new stretching and strength exercise regime (I'm using the recovering from cardiac surgery guide as the base since I'm starting from such a low level of fitness.)

Ramblin', you should get, like, a certificate or a ribbon or a mention in a newspaper article! You came in third, that's so cool. Maybe a trophy! You might as well tell about it in H and F, because you will be a topic of conversation and you don't want us getting the story wrong!
Elizabeth, I was so amused at your post yesterday about probably getting blamed anytime in 2023. How many hundreds of miles away would need to separate you, to be really sure you can't give them Covid?
LadyM, dd is TWELVE? Whoa.... Happy Birthday!
Twins', I sure hope I never drive anyone crazy by talking that much. I am definitely a talker, but you've got to HEAR from the other people around you or you don't have things to talk about, in the scheme of things.
Nancy, the clean little birds will appreciate you!
I will be touching dd43's life by helping her take a vehicle to her dealership this morning and getting her home safe for the rest of her day. If she has time, I'd like to stop on an errand, but I'm prepared to hear her say that she has a work meeting too soon to add anything else. It's okay if I spend the time on her need.

Re: Touching Tuesday
Morning…
Harriet… I did receive a medal for placing 3rd, just being proud of what I accomplished was all the reward I needed.
The tops of my legs are a bit sore this morning which is a surprise to me. I expected my calves and the backs of my legs would be, which they aren’t, but not the tops.
I want to do some work on my guest bedroom and declutter some. And my master bedroom needs some attention as well. I am enjoying my new stove and dishwasher.
Elizabeth it’s so good to see you again. What adventures you’ve had in the last few weeks.

Re: Touching Tuesday
Just taking long enough to "touch" Mr & Mrs Harmony, wishing them a Happy Anniversary. May your day be blessed in unexpected ways. Looking for others to reach out and touch you!
Just getting dh around to head out for his Dr Appointment. We already went in for his lab work shortly after 7. Came home and took all his vitals to report to the hospital this morning. Hoping she calls me shortly so I don't have to call her.

Re: Touching Tuesday
Happy Anniversary Harmony & DH! I would love to hear one (or more) of what has worked for your relationship and your recommendations to have a happy marriage. And an opposite...what is a joy killer in your marriage experience.
This morning I sat down and wrote the OMM's. I could feel my stress going down as I saw on paper what was rumbling around in my brain. I then typed those things in my OneNote journal page and assigned them a priority. My motivation is growing as I see the Next Steps laid out to GMAT.

Re: Touching Tuesday
Great opening today, Kathryn. I have already worked on touching everything in my house, tidying as many nooks and crannies as I can get to. I have a house inspector coming tomorrow to do 2 types of inspections and it is making me very nervous. He is not coming to judge how much dust there is or how organized it is... but looking at the structure, how it is built, and fire and liability issues (none that I know of except for the shop). But just knowing there will be eyes on everything around here has me doing a huge PUPA everywhere.
And thank you for anniversary wishes. I have a confession to make
. DH and I had talked about this Sunday night; he said he was thinking it was the 30th and I showed him the calendar where I have been noting it on the 29th. I know a few years ago I was figuring out the date... and I always thought about how it was Memorial Day weekend but the Sunday that year. We went to his DMother's church because we happened to like that pastor very much and his family would be there too. We all sat through the service, then DH and I stood up front and got married. Pastor had invited anybody who wanted to stay was welcome so we had a bunch of the congregation stay also. But I guess because I had looked for a date one year, the Sunday was on the 29th so it got changed on my calendar! Gee, it's usually the men who get their dates wrong or totally forget...but NO it was ME!
I made us a nice dinner yesterday...so we celebrated a day early! What works to keep it all going for 30 years? I suppose just not expecting too much, we're both human after all and we're both going to do things we ought not, say things we can't take back, etc. but getting up the next day and starting all over again. Forgiveness. DH is very good about that. I know if we have a bad day, when he gets up the next day it will have all blown over and I don't think he has any idea how to hold a grudge. It's like nothing bad ever happened. So, we keep on keeping on.
What's a joy stealer? I guess it's that he and I have very different ideas of our love "language". Things that mean a lot to me mean nothing to him and I've adapted to what he needs to happen in his life... so if I had any advice it would be to pay attention to what the other person regards as a loving service from you and do that once in a while. I surely wouldn't be able to write a marriage manual because we've both made many mistakes... but the trick is to learn from them. We have many challenges ahead, I'm sure, but 30 years, wow, it's already a miracle, so off we go to make it 31!
Sorry, I got preachy there. I need to get back to my tidying up around here. It's already looking better.

Re: Touching Tuesday
Wanted to tell RRose congratulations on getting the medal. You are in way better shape than I am for sure! If I had more time I would work on that. Time and energy. I shouldn't have let my fitness go to pot.
And thank you for suggestion to look up DFiL on Ancestry. I didn't go directly there last evening but I just looked up his name and all sorts of stuff came up. I found an obit where a lot of people had come in to say nice things...but none of our family did. So I suspect DSMiL didn't tell any of us that existed...because there were some hard feelings from some and I suspect she did not want any odd remarks printed (who would do that anyway?). So in there I found his Infantry number and the medal and looked up what that was about...just what that medal is given for...and it is just given for service in combat and hundreds were given out to that infantry. Then I got into reading what they did in WWII and yes it included that famous battle plus the 2 places mentioned in his obit. So he was really in the thick of things. We always wondered if what he did had something to do with the fact that his parents were the immigrants who came and because of that he knew the other language pretty well. Think about how that might have been used during the war. We will probably never know but it is interesting to think about.
So thank you for suggesting that and there are places to register to get more records, which I will do someday if DH is interested.
