Sunday PWYC

DD47 delivered a dozen freshly made chocolate chip cookies and a homemade chocolate meringue pie to our front porch this morning.

Happy Fathers Day!

We are having an unusual Sunday here because we are not attending church.

The family discussed the pro/cons and took a vote about DH isolating in the bedroom. We unanimously voted to not isolate him in the bedroom. If we didn't have such an abundance of covid tests on hand, we would have assumed DH had a mild cold or allergies. ANYway, we feel the risk is low and if we do get this mild covid then it might be a PITA but will build up our immunity. I do understand this isn't the decision that others would make.

DS14 was at work yesterday when we got DH covid positive test result. I called to let him know so he could inform those around him. No one cared. I offered to come get DS14 but they didn't want him to leave. DS14 was asked to come back and work today with them. Since we are not attending church today, I let DS14 go work with them. Yesterday they were building a boat house on a huge pond. Today they are gathering cattle. DS14 loves being around this group of positive doers. They work hard, get things done and laugh a lot.

Otherwise, we are staying away from people. Most people I know don't care but I don't want to make that decision for everyone. I did feel comfortable with going through the drive though yesterday and picking up pizza for the kids. It was open air, quick interaction and no touching.

I am making lasagna today with hot rolls. I need to get the rolls raised. *POOF*

UP at 6:15 today felt like sleeping in. [Not feeling to chipper today.]
I have planned did my bujo and had my coffee & bfast.
Today dd is coming no idea when - also not doing church. Father's Day is a no go for me most of the time. I did not go on mom's day either when I got an invite for brunch at dsons.
It is nice to have the counter spiffed yea.

I am considering different fry pan bc cast iron is so heavy.
Saw a teal one on clearance but was aluminum, so I am considering my options of not aluminum ones.

I am also contemplating my Cmas in July stuff, prep. for the 4th bc ddog & I dislike fireworks so much.
67* F. is our hi today 52* F. was the temp. when I got up. Might have to use a jacket on my walk.
-----
I have walked.
Have made some headway on cmas in July planning.
Dd & have been texting are going to get together she is bringing eggs to devil & milk
hoping dgd will mix up the cheesecake.
Dd is going to take the teal kitchen aid mixer I even have the box. So glad for room to put my tea pot on it.

LadyM: the way I felt was the risk to dh was too great since coughing could affect the healing of the sternum so I stayed away from him unless masked. But I did go up and down the elevator (wearing a mask) and I decided if someone was masked and wanted on I'd tell them no, since they were being careful. If someone was unmasked, I'd let them on because they didn't worry about getting sick.

And I did go to a store, masked. As you said, it could have been a cold (not allergies in March), and so as long as I masked in my N95 mask, and I stayed as far away from others as possible (not hard, I was there before 9 in the morning), I was doing my best not to spread it but at the same time having food for dh to eat since he was too weak to go anywhere on his own (couldn't carry, couldn't drive.) We also took advantage of neighbours' help.

If the same thing happened now, we'd likely make the same decision as you.

The air is clear today, the a/c is broken again, and it isn't hot so I took a longish walk this morning and came back pretty sweaty. (It is very humid.)

I did proper stretches when I got home since my leg muscles are really tight these days and it is leading to pain.

I have a meeting this afternoon to prep for and then after that we'll decide what to do for dinner. Dh had breakfast with dgs and ds this morning. Dd's family is sick so no invite from them. Maybe we'll pick up the grands if it is just the grownups who are sick.

Hello. Odd day here. I was up a couple times in the night because I was awakened with thunder and lightning. The swales are wet with standing water so it's been raining a lot. We just had another band of rain coming through. I wonder what RRose is getting.

So, I'd planned on staying home because I am still so stiff and sore I thought another day of rest would be a good idea. I had a minister I wanted to watch on TV. I figured out what time and station, but I fell asleep and missed the whole thing. Found him on another station and half slept through parts of it. Oh well. I don't know why DH didn't take the car...as I'd told him to take it...and he has to walk in the rain now and bring his rollator home in the back of an open truck.

Well, anyway, LadyM, that's exactly how I feel about things these days too. Last time I was up at the Dentist's he said a patient had called and cancelled because they had been around someone who later tested positive with Covid. The next thing he said was "is that even a thing any more?" I think there's a way to be moderately careful without going to extremes.

My laundry is all damp outside so it isn't ready to come in... DH is on his way home and he isn't wet he says but it is beginning to drizzle here again. BBL

Morning...

We've been having very strong thunder storms since early morning and I am pretty sure Harmony is well. I just checked with NOAA and it looks like the last is traveling to the east and there seems to be blue skies following that.

My son and his family were planning to come swim later this afternoon and I think there is a good chance this may be happening.

It took me two hours to clean Sweetie's shower yesterday. When these home were built they put in showers that are twelve feet in length with a tile wall that is over 8 feet tall. There is a large plate of glass that sits as the wall facing the sinks with an 2 2 foot entrances on either side. Of course the floor in the shower is tile. The belief is these types of showers were installed to accommodate wheel chairs if necessary. Many of the owners in my part of the community are retired and I guess the builders were trying to think ahead.

Anyway, deep cleaning Sweeties shower is very time consuming. I do clean it on a weekly basis, but the floor tiles and grout on the floor and walls were beginning to look nasty. I bought a battery operated scrubber just for this reason and yesterday was the first time I used it. We had a good laugh at the beginning because when you turn it on a voice...sounding much like a little girl with a Chinese accent comes on giving you verbal directions. First she says
On. There are three settings with the scrubber and she will tell you which one you are using...Low, Med, High. I get 90 minutes on my battery and when I hit 20% left, she kept telling ...the battery is low, the battery is low.

I scrubbed everything and cleaned the large plate of glass. Had to use my spin mop to wash down the walls after I scrubbed them. Once everything was done an dried, the shower looked brand new. I ended up wearing a sleeveless t-shirt and my undies along with my flip flops. I didn't want to be standing in all the cleaning solutions, plus I had to douse the area where the wall meets the tile with bleach as I have several areas where the mold was beginning to grow.

After it was done, I dried it with my floor fan. I wanted to get rid of the bleach smell. Gotta tell you I am very impressed with the way the shower turned out. The only thing I will do next time is play some good music while I work.

I need to do a small grocery run. It has finally stopped storming. I don't mind rain, but ya'll know I don't do lightning. The rest of my house is in good order because I'm really trying to stay on task and keeping everything picked up. I don't have a schedule like I did in the past because I'm now not working. When I see something needs to be done, I just do it. Which reminds me, I want to vacuum my floors after I get back from the store.

The only thing I really do on the same day every week is my laundry. I don't have enough to do for a full load till the week has gone by.

LadyM...I know that working with cattle is hard work, but for me I always thought it was fun. That's because I didn't have to do it for a living. :D

Thinking of Dee and her family. It must be a bittersweet day for all of them.

The thunder and lightning has stopped and so has the rain, so I'm out of here.

hello dear ones!!!

For the first time in a long time, I feel rested! I am going to enjoy this moment even if/when things change again and it will- I am not being negative but practical/realistic.

I was over my capacity for a long time and took this week to rest my body and my brain. I didn't do any garden work, I didn't have dr. appointments for dh, and dh is feeling great this week. We even had company yesterday and it was lovely.

I am just going to take it and enjoy!

Everything will change again in a minute; but for now, I had peace this morning.

hello d dee

hello d harmony! hope your rest makes your body feel better! hope the rain gave your laundry a nice spring smell!

hi d Kathryn I am so sorry your a/c broke again! Glad it isn't too hot!

I've been washing blankets. Plus dh wanted me to febreeze the couch/sofa/chesterfield. I also did his seat in the truck and his side of the bed.

I've also spent a lot of time outside burning wood and cardboard! There is a slight wind, but it's not a bad wind. Dh sat outside with me watching the fire.

This is absolutely NOT a day worthy of celebration in our home.

Blessed - I am thankful you are feeling rested and peaceful.

DS14 was picked up at our home at 6am this morning and brought back at noon. He was excited to tell about his experiences working with cattle. They planned to work 70 head and had them penned last night, but when the storm came through during the night, they turned the cattle out of the pens. The owner explained to DS14 that one lightning strike could have killed all the cattle in the pen (about $250K). This morning they managed to gather 30 of them and get those worked. DS14 learned firsthand how protective & dangerous a momma cow is when you mess with her calf. DS14 said a mama cow came after him twice and he was quick to go over the metal fence to get away from them. He was working with experienced cattle people, and they gave DS14 one of the safest jobs. He loved every moment of it.

The owner asked DS14 if he wanted to work for him when he isn't working his primary job. DS14 is excited about this but I am struggling with the decision to allow DS14 to do it. DS14 doesn't see it as work but is enjoying being with a great group of guys and doing things. When I expressed my reluctance to DS14 working so much, he asked me what the difference is when he comes home from his primary job and immediately starts working on his vehicle projects in our driveway. He explained that he is already working until bedtime. He wants to trade the time that he is working on the vehicles for working with this farmer/rancher. When DS14 puts it that way it makes sense that adding this part time job won't mean he is working more....but I don't want him working while he is a kid. I don't want him to look back on his teenage years and have regrets. DS14 equates work to fun. So, he sees my reluctance as telling him that he can't have fun.

It feels like a runaway train without a breke. DS14 arrived home at noon and excitedly told about his morning. Then DS14 was on the phone with a friend, and they agreed to meet in our driveway to work on a vehicle project they have going on. They are removing a sound system from one vehicle and installing it into another. Neither teen has ever done this, so they are using youtube to give clues as they figure it out. It is hard to not get caught up in the excitement of their eagerness to learn and do.

Ah, I'm getting some alone time. We went out for brunch with ds earlier. We were away for mothers' day, and, instead of scheduling something when we got back (when we were going out of town again) I suggested we defer and have fathers' day and mothers' day together. I hadn't seen ds in a while, he did something with dh when I was out of town. Dh went to pick up a bowling ball and said he might bowl a game with it to see how he liked it. He was going to check back in with ds and then they were going to walk together.

So I came home from brunch and napped with the dog.

Yesterday we went to the dfriends' river house for the afternoon to evening. We had a great time, went on a boat ride and visited and talked. She bought barbequed brisket and roasted brussels sprouts and I made a salad. It was a good time but I'm so happy to be home today. And honestly, I'm hoping for rain tomorrow.

Much later....

Dh got home and together we got the anti vibration pads under the washing machine. I am hoping this does it. It took a lot of doing and of course, I had to assist. In the end it's more to the right of the space than it was, so I don't have room for the step ladder there. I tried to tell him as we worked that but was unsuccessful. Since the pads are meant to not move, the washer can't be moved once the pads are under it. I'm almost channeling Harmony and now I have the laundry room to clean up too.

I'm going to try to get through at least my a.m. routine. I also need to do a short power point (I have a template) for the online discussion group on Wednesday.

LadyM, I am with you, regardless of his logic. The stuff with the motorcycle is something he chooses to do in his free time. I'd try to keep some "free" time blocked out for him, regardless of how he uses it.
