Fri. Look Up for Northern LItes

Post by Nancy »

Today I am up in the week hours looking for the northern lites.
I think I saw some but the neighbors street lite in the back yard is interfering with that mission.
I thought of a few things and have been jotting them down in the journeying thread.

One thing I got a thrift shop was a devo. others had jotted down encouraging words in for some one going through treatments.
Dd knew of some one beginning on a journey for some treatments so that found a new home.
The fleece tie together blanket dgd will do she has done those before.

Nest I want to figure out how to do a pattern for lattice on a bias for the steps section.
If we think of it like fabric I am sure we can do what the guys could not figure out!

I need to work on the desk it is piled high again after I cleared out other things in that room.

Dd took one small side table yesterday, today she will unload and get a dresser her grand father made for her grandmother
it has Cmas what ever year it was from ______- to __________ on the inside in hand written wording. So it is a treasured piece she is glad
to get it. I have another one that might work for her too. So some decluttering success is going on this week.

I have a couple of cubes a crate and side table that are under consideration for deck decor and or patio area as well in the she shed and basement.
Thinking of ideas for the red white and green theme shore for this mo. and Cmas in July focus now that deck is 99% done.

There was a couple other items to think about making up market bags out of tees I was considering too.

I had a half-thought of "Catch Up On Posts" Friday, lol.

Nancy, happy for you that you have a deck nearly finished.

lucylee, I want to go back and read about your family members' health.

I think LadyM? I want to go back and read about your friend - same health concern.

LadyM, please do stay safe in the extraordinary heat.

Also FL SHEs. Possibly Elizabeth, lucylee.

Yesterday at appt we heard a lot of "stay hydrated" talk - quite right.

The young man's dear uncle, much loved by dd24, passed away yesterday. Sort of the family saint, from what I hear.

We are off to the last of the three appts of this week. All 3 either long or distant. I don't want to stack so many in a week again and may actively start saying "reschedule" in advance to any that are not big deals or calendar-specific.

Did anybody get good deals on A-River sale days? I got a couple things that are constants, and a tee for a grandboy. Should have shopped further, perhaps, but time was short.

Missing hearing from Mystery, from blessed, and most important person I will surely have forgotten, of course, lol.

I got in around eight last night. Ddog did a dance all around the house and backyard, she was a happy little gal. Dh went to dfriends' at river for his dinner so he got home not much later. I feel like I'm in re-entry today.

Ddog had me up just past seven, my clock was set for seven-thirty. It's hot hot hot here so I need to walk her soon. Today I have a workout at one (rescheduled from yesterday so I could spend two days away) and tonight we're going to friends for Shabbat dinner - this is a thing the temple does now and then. We hosted several last time but said we would be guests this time around. Our dog sitter for the last trip is coming by around 4:30 to pick up a couple of things left here, and we have a couple of little NH souvenirs for her and her dh.

I have laundry going. Because I got a lot of steps earlier in the week I'm on track for my step goal this week. And I need to get the dog walked before it gets any hotter. :?

I was outside cutting the grass just before 9. The skies are dark and ominous looking.

Cleared off part of island. There are a lot of things on a large table in the library, so I just moved everything onto that table. I have a pile of 4 knives that are leaving the house in some way today. I have them wrapped in bubble wrap and I still want to wrap them in another layer and then tape that layer shut before taking them to the landfill. I think I should put cardboard around them.

As a kid I always wanted to see Northern lights and would go out at night thinking I could see them. It's very very rare that they would appear this far south.

Dog is walked - three laps and I've cooled off, had breakfast. Finishing up a.m. routine. I'm slow this morning.

I went back to bed and be able to sleep in till 6:30 yea! Ddog needed out so I finally got up.
I was pleased to remember some items I can use on the deck that I had here in the grey blue color family a tall table
with mosaic tiles with grapes in the design. Will be fun to set a coffee cup on as I stand and watch the sunrise /sunset.

Planning and journals are done.
Thought of a few things dgd can help with or some craft things we can do together.
Dd's job did not work out, other interviews did not pan out either.

Everybody be careful in the heat. We are 99 now.

Sigh.. DH began talking about the shop mess and I talked him into beginning to at least organize his long work bench. There was something wrong with every little thing I suggested. He's seeing this job as too big to tackle because it all has so much value to him and there is so very much stuff here. Plus the truck is packed full. At one point we went into the truck to find something and he stood there and looked around and said that it had been a long time since he's been in there to look around. He thinks he will just put some signs out and walk people around.

I came in the house very very discouraged.

Today I cleaned out the drawers in the china closet. Mostly stuff in there I've never used a nd never wanted. I put a small bag of stuff in the closet, keepsakes I guess. I filled up the donation bin. I can control the house stuff, but I'm afraid I'll never get a handle on the shop and garage.

Harmony, it's only 88 degrees here but "feels like" 97. We have a "Special Weather Statement" for hot and muggy conditions this afternoon.

I'm not working out today - the trainer texted that he is sick and has gone home and they will reschedule for an extra workout next week. I have as many steps now as I had yesterday and the day before. I need 6600 for today and tomorrow, which is doable, but I was counting on the workout too.

I think I'll nap with the dog. I'll get my shower later

Home from a joyous event. We joined DSisIL at the cancer center for her final treatment which means she got to "Ring the Bell". We took an abundance of pictures and video as the RN cancer nurses, doctor and family celebrated with her and gave hugs.

Afterwards we went out to eat at our favorite breakfast place, dropped off donations at our favorite charity, got gas in SUV, shopped for pantry items, and found DH some pants that fit. He has lost 70lb and is still wearing the same pants. He went from size 44 to 38. He could have gone to size 36 but he prefers his pants to be loose.

We need to go through DH closet and remove all the too big of pants and shorts. DH tends to be a pack rat holding onto clothes for decades because they aren't worn out. It is time to let them go and be used by someone else.

Struggling here.

The drive seems so endless and each day is as long as it used to be even splitting it into 3 days not 2. We had no internet for most of yesterday. None on the phone was expected due to changes our carrier made, cutting off our US service but none in the car was an unpleasant surprise since the car needs internet for all its planning for how much to charge and when we'll arrive anywhere.

Because the car needs data it has a cross border plan. Which is useless in Maine where there appears to only be coverage along the interstate. Even the last charging stop which has signs up offering internet but it wasn't working so we couldn't figure out if there was some place to eat across the border or not. Dinner took well over an hour setting us really late, arriving at the hotel after 9 pm.

Today is a 4.75 hour drive that is taking 9 hours. I'm out of patience and good grace.

Technology frankly sucks. Yesterday the car insisted we had to cross the border and charge before continuing the trip this morning (a 2 hour detour) and without internet I couldn't figure the true numbers and thus know how long to charge. Today it told us we had to stop in NB then at airport outside Halifax and then back to NB (3 hours) before driving the 25 miles to our airbnb. Which meant, without internet I couldn't tell our host when we'd be arriving because the car was telling us stupid routing.
