Walking Wednesday
Walking is today's theme: Let your fingers walk right over and make those DPCs. Or get outside or do house walking for fitness? Or walk some clutter right out of your home, or walk yourself right over to you notebook/list/routines and get some stuff done today.
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Re: Walking Wednesday
~~~waving Hello to all~~~~
I've been outside twice this morning to walk, water and touch the garden. As I am becoming more accustomed to the hourly habit of taking at least 250 steps it is starting to feel natural again. Every hour I am reminded that procrastination is not my friend. I do find myself thinking "I'll do it in a few minutes" which means it won't happen. I am establishing the skill of just doing it instead of thinking about it.
I am continuing with my decision to remove a tomato plant each day. Each of these plants are 7-8' tall and are about 4' in diameter. They have produced well and are ready to become compost now. Some of them take several efforts to pull the plant out of the soil. The roots are huge and extensive. They are giving me a good workout.
Re: Walking Wednesday
I've been walking a lot of donations out to my car in recent weeks. Today I will be driving them to the thrift store. I take them to one which is many miles away but this thrift store is truly out to put money back into the community. They live in a rent-free building. Everyone who works there is a volunteer. They have a massive food bank in the same building. They don't charge tax. Basically they aren't trying to make money to cover their overhead. This is why I drive all that way to drop off there instead of going to 3 other thrift stores in the area.
Dh is fixing a neighbour's ATV today. We had 2 neighbours come over to tell us they liked the fence yesterday.
Supper last night was pasta and meat sauce. No leftovers. Tonight hasn't been decided yet.
It's too windy for a fire today.
Re: Walking Wednesday
Good morning, all!
What a game for lucylee to be at last night! I wonder how late it ended?
LadyM, I can't imagine a 4" diameter tomato plant! A 4' diameter tomato, sure! Do these grown multiple seasons where you are?
Cathy, that store sounds like a lovely place and well worth the trip!
As far as walking, Twins, all my dashing hither and yon yesterday netted me a whole lot of steps! Maybe today, I'll keep track of how those are going along with my to-dos.
Speaking of which, here are the last ones I posted yesterday, so I can at least get some feeling of accomplishment:
Keep up with dishes
Keep up with dailies
Catch up on laundry: Reds
Catch up on laundry: Lights
Clean up my dining table hot spot
Make packing list for Cape Cod
Wish Dfriend a happy birthday
Get DD bathing suit
Pick up DC birthday gifts (they will be turning 21 on our trip)(red not for lack of trying; went to pick up one of the things I ordered online from T., and it was out of stock)
Make list for drugstore
And here's my starting l**t today:
Keep up with dishes (I have a sinkful of dreaded hand washing to do!)
Keep up with dailies: tidy bathroom
Last load of laundry before trip!
(DC's lights that would not fit in with the previous load)
Clean up my dining table hot spot
Wish dfriend D. a happy birthday (this was belated to start with... and just keeps getting more belated
)
See if kids need anything from drugstore
Make list for drugstore
See if DD will need her indoor plants watered
Water tomatoes on porch
Hire dfriend K.'s daughter to check on house and water plants while we're gone
Current step count: 13% of daily goal
Off I go!
Well I’m at the car dealership at the moment and if I can’t get my car fixed I will be walking
I have another hair cut today because yesterday the gal cut my hair with one side shorter than the other
I have a women’s self defense class tonight the is two hours long. It’s put on by the local police department. Should be interesting.
Re: Walking Wednesday
I've already walked a mile with ddog, good because it's raining now. Dh had me up and about because they folks pressure washing the house were to be here at 8:30. They are to try to come later now. I have a phone appt with my doc at 11, and need to get out later for groceries and gas. T storms not over until early afternoon.
I've eating breakfast, and have the recycling out on the street. Need to wrap up a.m. routine...
I'm headachy. I think I was dehydrated when I walked and it left me feeling a little shaky too.
Cathy, I need to walk some donations out of the house too but probably not this week.
Re: Walking Wednesday
Temp is 93° right now. Not as bad as it has been. But it's still HOT.
I have gone out and taken down that last line of letters. These were very big ones. I am up 4 steps on the ladder. I have to be careful. If I am pulling a length of vinyl letter and it suddenly breaks, I can fall backward off the ladder. So I have learned to go slowly and especially when I come to a crack in the vinyl where I know it will break, I go slowly and detach it. I'm very thankful when I discovered this I did not fall off. I am mighty grateful. Last big line of letters is all off. I brought my hair dryer back in the house. I'm glad I did not burn it out doing this. Had to do a letter at a time because they get so hot I can't touch them.
DH is working on the bracket for the right side mirrors. Somebody must have run into it or hit something with the side of the truck and that bracket is broken. He is welding reinforcement from the inside out and making a new bracket. It has a long mirror on it and a smaller square one.
I am trying to rest my feet right now. I think I do not have enough padding in these shoes so I must start looking for a new pair. These are old, mules made of rubber. I just use them when I go to gardening or walk outside in wet. I have 2 pairs. The other pair is wearing a hole in the bottom of the sole. Guess it's time to get rid of them.
Re: Walking Wednesday
So, Rose, did you need to walk? And what do you mean, you don't like that asymmetrical look?
Glad you got your walk in, Twins! I am up to 43% of my step goal (but only 30% of the steps I got in yesterday).
Glad you've been careful with the letters, Harmony. Glad, too, that progress is being made on the truck.
Waving to Nancy -- you've been busy!
I've been busy, too. Here's the latest progress:
Keep up with dishes (Finished the hand washing! Will run the dishwasher after everyone's eaten lunch.
Keep up with dailies: tidy bathroom
Last load of laundry before trip!
(Almost forgot about this -- I need to get it into the dryer!)
Clean up my dining table hot spot
Wish dfriend D. a happy birthday (this was belated to start with... and just keeps getting more belated
)
See if kids need anything from drugstore
Make list for drugstore
See if DD will need her indoor plants watered
Water tomatoes on porch
Hire dfriend K.'s daughter to check on house and water plants while we're gone
Wow! I'm cooking with gas!
Say, can any of you tell me how to clean cast iron? DH usually does it.
Updated l**t:
Lunch dishes into dishwasher; run
Last load of laundry
Dining table hot spot
Hire dfriend's DD to check on house and water plants,
Get DC to bring luggage down from attic for me (I couldn't manage it on my own)
Make my bedroom presentable (DFDD will have to go through it to get to the tomato plants on the upstairs porch)
Go pick up DC's birthday presents
See if any parts of the yard will need mowing before we leave
Go to drugstore
Pack my suitcases (except for stuff I will need before we go)
