Suspecting Something, Saturday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

I haven't participated much this week in the discussions but my sense if that there is no one S word to put into today's title.

In fact, I suspect S words may not be the ones you choose.

It could be Surprise or Substitution Saturday - I'm having an unexpected visit from a cousin. He did book ahead on Thursday and I cancelled dd, substituting him in for that time slot in my over full schedule.

It could be Satisfying Saturday for those of you who got all you wanted done during the week so you can relax and enjoy the day.

It could be Shopping Saturday for those that have to do errands on the weekend. Bonus points if you are off to a farmer's market for fun shopping!

It could be Sniffling Saturday for those who just need a good cry, whether from pain, upset, relief, loneliness (or any other good reason for a cry.)

It could be Sad Saterday as the effects of aging affect either ourselves or those we love. (Another good reason for a cry.)

It could be Sleeping Saturday for those who need to catch up on rest.

Whatever other S word fits you, plug it in. Then take a sip of your restorative drink of choice (or listen to Harriet and have some water!) and then square your shoulders and move on to make it a Successful Saturday. Even if that means you accomplish nothing but acknowledging your current mental/physical/emotional state.

I'm short sleep. Dh woke me at 6 with his moving around in the bed. Eventually, he decided to leave since I really wanted to sleep and I ended up with 7.5 hours of rest. Not bad, not great.

I'm scrambling (another S word!) to finish up odds and sods for the meeting tomorrow. I have lots I want to do in the next 3 hours. I also need to tidy up around here as things are spread over two computer work spaces. And vacuum and dust the office so I can put away the vacuum cleaner and move the patio chair cushions to the basement locker.

I'm a slug (tired plus overwhelmed.)

I need a walk before 1 because I know I won't get one after that (that's when my cousin will arrive for a 2 hour visit.)

I need to come up with something with which to welcome them.

But first of all, I need to get dressed. Dh just finished his bike so perhaps he'll be able to help me with things today.

Hi!

I'm glad I set 3 different alarms on my phone and put the phone out of reach before I fell asleep last night. I got to the doctor's office moments after 8. I got out moments before 9 with a new prescription for another antibiotic. Went to the newest pharmacy in town which is owned by the former owner/manager of a large, corporately owned pharmacy. He knew my name and asked how my husband was (by name). He also suggested a medicated ointment that has lidocaine in it to help with the pain, so I have that as well.

Long story short... I'm home now with new meds and eating a peanut butter and jam sandwich before we head out to the "business" costco for a few things. It's raining here. I want to go back to bed. It's raining here.

No idea what's for supper.

Sipping my coffee with white chocolate creamer in it, to be honest I like the carmel machetto one better, as I read today's Sat. posts.
We have a slight rain it was raining harder earlier.
I am satisfied with gnome rocks I painted, they were quite easy actually they need sealer on them after they are dry.
I am confident I can do elves & grinches too! Something fun that is not flowers! LOL!

Today I need to do sheets feed dogs and will try to get a sketch and pattern drawn for a sewing project bag
I need to work on a prototype for this before doing a batch of them up. I have the dimensions I think for them from a
bag I use already. I could buy some but what fun is that then you have to wait for shipping! LOL! So funny.
Glad I did town day yesterday.

Cathy glad to hear of a good report and helpful Rx person place.

This is over-Socialized Saturday for me. I've had three social events since Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and am wanting to do nothing at all today. We had a lovely little Shabbat dinner last night (another S, it's Shabbat here) with dfriends. Perfect amount of brisket from freezer, enough food to go with brisket (she brought broccoli slaw salad and I had challah from the grocery) and we were fine without dessert. Good conversation but I was so tired.

Dh went to Costco yesterday afternoon. There is an arts festival this weekend that is strictly local artists. We know at least two of them. Part of me would like to walk through, if only I could do it without having to talk to anyone! Should be mostly cloudy at high of 70 so nice weather, not too hot. There's also a bit of an eclipse today. (Tomorrow, is cloudy and a little cooler, which is also fine.) There's football today today, at noon and 3:30. Tomorrow dh is going to a Federation brunch and I don't have to go. (Visualize big happy happy dance here!)

So I don't know what else the weekend holds. DH was wanting to build a fire outside and sit around the firepit last night. I didn't have any enthusiasm for that last night when we had sprinkles off and on. I don't know about tonight and I can imagine him wanting to invite someone over.

Dh purchased a Green Egg Smoker from a friend who upsized recently. I'm going to encourage him to get a pork butt or something to smoke and fiddle with that today, lol

Cathy, hoping you're getting relief from the pain today. And I think I missed sending anniversary wishes to RR and Sweetie yesterday!

Good afternoon!

Belated happy anniversary wishes for Rose and Sweetie!

It is Soggy Saturday here — chilly and rainy. I don’t think I will make my step goal today; I’m not planning on going anywhere except to do the livestream at church, and it’s nigh impossible to get enough steps in just in the house.

It is also suspicious Saturday here. There is a leak in the basement coming from a non-obvious place, and I’m afraid to think what the source might be.

DH is actually home for once (between proctoring exams and Scout activities, he’s gone most Saturdays) and puttering. I am feeling guilty just sitting here, so I guess I should get up and do something useful. Have a good day, everyone!

Had a great dinner last night. It was nice to go out for dinner

I’m having a very slow day today. Watched some tv earlier and am. Is watching the Alabama game. Tennessee is playing later today. I’m also keeping my eye on the eclipse as well.

Sweetie is having Pizza for dinner. I did not want to cook while watching the game and I’ll have a salad. My chair is very comfortable and I have my feet up and I am happy as a clam. It’s very hot and humid here today but a cold front is headed this way tomorrow. Can’t wait!!!

Cathy… glad you’re getting some relief with your burn. I usually put ice cubes on my burns immediately after it happens and then tear off a piece of my aloe plant to put on it after the ice melts. Sometimes I split the leaf and wrap a bandage around the burn with the leaf. Usually does the trick for me. A nurse taught me that a long time ago.

I don't know what kind of day it will be!!! It's cold and rainy and I do love days like these.

my brother was with my mom at night and is there during the day. Dd's spent the afternoon and evening with d mom and dropped her off at 9pm. My brother had a chance to have a nice dinner with his best friend; which makes me happy!
For me it was nice to have one day free of people! I wouldn't want it all the time but it was nice just being me for a day!

I would like to do a home blessing day!
I had planned on planting bulbs and do garden work but we have rain again today; too wet to do anything.

I hope whatever to day is for you that it is a blessing of a day!!!

Happy anniversary D rose!!! it's soggy and rainy here as well!!!

d mystery, Hope you have a wonderful day and get to the bottom of the leak in the basement and that it is easy to fix!
enjoy sitting! it's you body telling you - to relax!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Kathrn - Thanks for the start today and S word focus.
square your shoulders and move on
I like the thought of doing these S words for my day.
Although I'm currently doing more of a slow day.

I'm having a little reaction to yesterday's double dose flu shot. I'm running a low-grade fever and have minor body aches happening. I don't have anything that has to be done today so i am not making an all-out effort.

I intended on going to a yearly workday at church this morning, but I decided to take a pass. DH and DS15 both went and worked several hours.

I simmered a pot of garden tomatoes on the stove top this morning until they were cooked down. I added other vegetables (onion, garlic, peppers) and used an immersion blender to make it into salsa. That effort resulted in 2 quarts of some of the best salsa I've ever tasted.

I have deboned a rotisserie chicken that was purchased yesterday. I'll be turning the meat into chicken salad after boiling some eggs.

After DS15 finished his driving school yesterday I took him to spend time with his new friend that is a girl. Her grandparents took them to the city to eat and shop. Afterwards DS15 and friend spent the rest of their time together outside in her front yard with 6 of her nieces and nephews. I know their relationship won't stay this innocent forever, but multiple adults are encouraging them to stay in this phase as long as possible.
