Hi!

I was up until after 1 a.m. reading (and finishing) Kate Morton's latest book. Now I need to pick another author to read. I love starting at the first book and reading all of them in order. Of course that's easier with some authors than it is with others.

Supper will be leftover soup. I will be doing a sneaky switch with the broth later which will include moving the meat and veggies to another container, draining all the pepper-y broth and then putting the meat and veggies back into the pot and adding new broth. I still have 3 cartons on the shelf, so I will use a couple of those.

As far as moving, I have 2 knitting groups today. 10-12 and 1-3. I like both groups.

It was my first school drop off of the week, so I guess that's why "moving" came to mind. Ds is being a good patient and not driving, but he is so bored. He was waiting for me, too, for the school run and fixed dgdC's booster seat into my car, hopped in to ride with us!

So, we had a happy drive to the school, where it's "hurry up and wait" anyway. Dgd's grade is putting on the play "Frozen" in the spring, so she's excited about having a singing part.

Ds face is swollen but not too bad. He says it's gone down a lot. Of course, it's so difficult to get him to talk about any pain or discomfort, but he does seem optimistic. No one at the school particularly seemed to notice.

Dd25 has come home announcing how happy she is that she and the young man decided on a SMALL wedding, and what wonderful mothers-in-law she and the young man are going to have. lol She also says that she wants ONE formal toast at her own wedding, and nobody else gets to touch a mic. (evidently, the groomsmen all knew the groom very, very well and tried to outdo each other with eye-opening stories! )

Dd25's dress had to be "altered" with a few safety pins, she says. It could have been worse. She thinks all the photos are going to turn out very well. The day before the wedding, she had asked how guests were going to be arriving since there was so little parking space at the venue. Vans, she was told, but she couldn't find anyone who had actually booked them. She and the groom (who shouldn't have had to do it) lined up 3 not-inexpensive vans just a day in advance, but a miss is as good as a mile and guests were cared for.

"Getting a move on" means cleaning for me today, and if I'm very good I'll allow myself some sewing!

3) small bathroom attention
4) extra laundry
5) Desk Day odds and ends

It is fall break here so all alarms have been turned off. I even turned off my hourly step alarms, so without that reminder I expect my steps to drop this week. It is all about taking a break from normal structured doings and experiencing having a blank canvas for the days/week. Of course, we are still raising 2 kids, have 3 dogs and 3 rabbits to care for so there are some must-do every day. Maybe it is more of a mind-set? I'm feeling free with no school & less on our calendar so I'm just embracing & enjoying the fall break experience.

I'm wearing long sleeve winter clothes for the 2nd day in a row. DS15 asked for an extra blanket for his bed. I don't understand that because he has a 80lb furry dog that likes to sleep in his bed. I would think Tomas would be generating so much heat that it would keep DS15 too warm. After today our temperatures will return to more normal fall temps (80's) so we can have a chance for our bodies to gradually get used to cooler temps.

It is flu shot day for DH and the kids. I can't tell you how excited this makes the kids (NOT).

I was up at 4 today. Stayed up and got some study notes done for the week yea!
Scrubbed the bird bath.
Got a couple planners purged into one and spiffed off my desk and the rocks I sealed & paint stuff is off the table glad for those surfaces to have improvement yea!
I have cleaned out the bird bath.
Dump trash & put some branches in the can needs to happen after my breakfast. Done
walked around the block and have half of my steps in for the day already before nine a.m. yea!
Neighbor's kids are cleaning out their dad's place free stuff is out by the curb chairs and table & lamps that were there yesterday are now gone.
Other items are out there today I see.

Yes to this, Harriet! The wedding we went to a couple of weeks ago had a lot of toasts. Not so much outdoing each other with stories, but the groom's father was long-winded, and apparently wanted a second go at it. And I think most the groomsmen spoke, Too long, IMHO, especially for this wedding with pretend champagne.

I'm getting a slow start today as usual for a Monday. I wasn't up until eight. Dh has a meeting late this afternoon and I think we will go out to eat after? Anyway, I'm not cooking dinner. A.m. routine mostly done and I'm heading upstairs. (I should do balance exercises but I haven't, that's the undone part.)

We're not getting out of the low fifties today, still overcast.

DH & I are home from the gym. We discussed whether we want to go to gym on fall break week, but we both appreciate the way it makes us feel AFTER it is done. We are energized and fully oxygenated after exercising which is a great feeling that we enjoy experiencing. So we both voted to exercise even though we are intentionally going without structured schedule this week. I did cancel DS15 appointment with his personal trainer this week since he is on fall break and that appt is part of his school.

Next up - off to the city for DH and DD12 flu shots. DS15 is in the middle of a job that is difficult to pause so I will take him at a later time.

I've moved upstairs and it's cold up here! Sixty-one degrees. The heat is running now and warming things up. This room has a heat/ac unit of its own. When I was up here last week I needed the A/C to cool it off a little.

It’s kinda cool here too, Twins. I’m thinking it will be blue jean weather for the ballgame this weekend.

It's 81° here now, so we're over 10 degrees cooler than usual. I've been pulling up my little quilted afghan at night.

Harriet, please share this with DD, she might get a kick out of it. When DGS got married, the best man, our other DGS, got a plan up with the line of ushers... when he was supposed to pass the wedding ring to the groom, he felt his pockets and found no ring, and then down the line of ushers, each went through their pockets until the last one in line found the ring in His pocket and they passed it along down the line back up to the Best man who gave it to the groom. The Priest officiating was less than amused and tried to stop it... but the audience was in stitches laughing at the whole spectacle. None of us knew this was coming... and I'm not even sure the groom knew it (he might have, I'll have to ask him). But that is par for my family of DGrandsons! I'm impressed what your DD had to do to with the parking problem and how proactive they were.

I have a feeling this week might get hectic - have no idea why I have this feeling - so I've been working on my study for this week, trying to get it all done on this quiet day. Maybe it's because I have a lot of stuff I'd like to get done this week...and want this out of the way first. I'm ahead several days now.

DH went out to a house to pick up something he had them work on...and I asked him before he left if he knew where this lady lived....oh yes I've been there many times. He did not have the address, he just knew where she was. I was dubious... and shortly after he called that he couldn't find her house. I had to look up her address and guide him along with the map I also brought up on the computer.... oh, he said, she painted her house! He told me he trusted his brain to get him there. He'd just gone off in a happy hurry. So we laughed about that...trusting his brain! Not a good idea any more.

I've called the dentist to make appointments for DH. We thought we were done last time till they found something during the cleaning. DH was not amused and I questioned... and they didn't tell us anything further, the other thing they'd found during those cleanings. Nice talk with the gal who does the appointments just now about it. They were easing into the problem it seems... so last night I'd talked with him about the 1st thing and we decided to go ahead. So, another trip up there in a couple weeks. I guess I was shocked, we've done so much work... but we did have a nice chat today and scheduling is done. We do trust this guy, and that doesn't happen all at once with somebody new... but even though we complain, we end up doing what they suggest. DH's teeth have never looked this good!

Ok I guess I should get busy doing something around here. Maybe fold up the basket of clothes..
