Math Monday

Post by bittersweet »

Today is Math 2.0 day. ( https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/fu ... point0-day )

It's back to work today.. bleh! Since I have a doctor's appointment 15 minutes away at 9:15, I'll be working from home for the first 4 minutes or so. That makes so much more sense than driving 35 minutes across the city to work, 30 minutes or so back to the doctor's appointment, and then back to the office again.

I have a couple of hours before I have to get dressed and start work, so I'll do my best to make some use of them that involves more than listening to my audiobook

Yes, Harriet, I sew the cat pads for work. I also crochet cat carrier blankets for a local rescue. I'll explain more about that over in the Art, Craft, and Needlework thread.

First task of the day is to get some more coffee!!

Good morning!

Bittersweet - I am loving your CI's. Thank you for starting our day.

I had another successful start to my day. Morning mile and Morning Papers accomplished.

We have a busy day with 3 medical appointments and 6 errands. It gives me the feeling of being overwhelmed to have that much in one day, but it feels doable having them listed on paper to check off. I could delay some of the items but that just means another 100 miles of driving on a different day. It seems easier to just cram them in while I am in that location.

I have decided to apply to become a patient with a licensed counselor. There are times in life that it feels like things are happening too fast for me to process. I am going through one of those life phases now. I'm a duck....calmly gliding on top of the water but peddling like crazy underneath. DH has always been my sounding board and he still is....but his confusion and mental fog makes it difficult. I have friends to talk to, but they are in a supportive mode. They will say kind things, smile, hug and pat me on the back. I need to have someone to speak clearly and tell me when I need to take a few steps back because I am about to fall off the cliff. So.....adding another item to my OMM list....make an appt for me.

Thank you for getting the village opened up this morning, bsweet!

Today may be a recovery day for me. Still tired from prep yesterday and effort with six people over last night. Of course, dh grilled too much so we'll be eating brats and burgers for tonight too. At least I'm not cooking! I'm a little embarrassed that I ate a large piece of leftover coconut cake for my breakfast. It's gone now, so won't be bothering me anymore.

I've walked ddog a mile already.

I need to lie down flat on the floor awhile and see if I can get my back happier.

You're a wise woman, LadyM.

Your dd is already with a therapist who can either schedule you or recommend someone and help you get it. I'd like to find a therapist for me - the one I've had has retired, but it's so nice to have that sounding board, voice of reasosn

I suspect I did something this morning that will turn into a daily task. I made a sack of food/drink for DS15 this morning. I didn't think it through and acted because I knew we wouldn't be around to take him food/drinks today. I quickly made 3 sandwiches, grabbed 2 cans of drinks and put them in a WM bag. Can you say BARE BASICS? DS15 was surprised & grateful that I did that and said Thank You about a half dozen times as he was dashing out the door. DS15 is still learning the in/outs of working in the middle of nowhere. He is used to being close to home or a place to get something to eat or drink when he needs it. Eventually he needs to learn the life skill of preparing his food/drink ahead to take with him. I am trying to show him the benefits of having food/drink packed to take. Baby steps.

I made myself an amazing awesome (if I may say so) breakfast burrito. Eggs, spinach, 2 kinds of peppers, salsa, hot link on a xtreme wrap with Greek yogurt. 314 calories with 30g of protein. It fits my needs and makes my taste buds happy.

We will leave in 30 minutes for the first medical appt. This one is for DH with our family doctor (I have notes prepared). While there I will make 2 appointments for the teens to have their yearly check ups. After leaving family doc appt we will stop at the bank to get monthly cash, swing by the gym to ask why they charged $10 to our account this month, and then stop by Ace to pick up our chain saw that we left to have repaired. I hope to be back home within 2 hours.

As we consider math, we see that algebra is a lot like dating relationships. You look at your x and wonder y.

LadyM, you recently made wise decisions in that you stepped back from some church responsibilities, reconsidered as much VBS work going forward. You are a receptive person when shown wise choices, and that will be a big part of successful counseling right there. Best wishes as you talk out taking care of yourself.

Yesterday's talk, talk, talk with dd25 showed me how MUCH she helps me as a sounding board. She actually thanked me for sitting so long with her and talking at restaurant, but the talks in the car back and forth were exactly what I needed in order to feel heard. I just remembered that she whipped out her phone in restaurant booth and snapped a photo of me, saying she was going to glance at it when she hit snags through the week. Quickly, I'd pulled mine out and snapped one of her - she doesn't realize how much I need to remember some of the things she said, lol.

Dd44 texted at dusk last evening to say their family was home safe from holiday weekend with her in-laws and with DangerBoy more briefly. As I dozed off to sleep last night, I thought how comforting to see or hear something from the children yesterday, whether a quick drop-off of veggies or a "we're safe" text.

It rained again through the night. So grateful, especially after our "yard man" had mowed. We may not dry up and blow away after all.

We've gotten groceries this morning and they are already put away.
Need to finish readying the small bedroom for curtains and a day-bed frame that arrive tomorrow.
Need to slow HRH down from moving furniture otherwise!
Extra laundry loads on the agenda.

I put the week's Daily July Declutter Challenges into that thread. First two days are clothing and (of course, after one day) more clothing.

Harriet, so glad you're getting some rain. We need it here, badly. Think there was a storm on Friday; dh says it poured downtown but we got just a few sprinkles here.

I went upstairs to do some genealogy but the fact I haven't cleaned up more downstairs was nagging at me. I'll have lunch and do a little more clean up. I have a genealogy webinar at three p.m. and I'd prefer to watch it upstairs. I've been distracted upstairs, too, our new bed and mattress are ready for delivery on Thursday. I heard six weeks, dh heard three to six and I don't think it's been even three weeks. So I jumped onto Amazon and ordered sheets and mattress pad and blanket. I'll have to figure out a comforter or bedspread later. (For that I need something easily washable that can handle ddog sometimes scratching at it to make her "bed."

Right now:
-make myself a sandwich or wrap
-clear plastic tablecloth off of DR table, that will finish DR clean up.
-clear and wipe long L shaped counter
-empty dishwasher (Dh didn't get it started last night so it ran this a.m.)
-Clear and wipe kitchen island - includes washing up some things that don't go in dishwasher and putting other stuff away

This a.m. I also responded to email from editor of publication needing a couple of files that were "figures." I did them in Excel and a separate Word document and then cut and pasted them into body as an image. She'll need to edit those as well.

LOL

Home from a successful doc visit and errands. I added 2 more errands to my list because they easily fit into where/what we were doing.

Family doc changed 3 of DH meds. He spent over 30 minutes with us discussing the pro/cons of each change. Over the years I have learned to trust our family doctor. I don't expect perfection, but I do like that he seems to really care and is trying. He told us that he will be doing further research and might make more changes to DH meds later today. Liver ultrasound results were good. Numbers are going in the right direction. DH will start wearing a 14 day heart monitor starting this Friday. The nurse referred to it as EKG vest. The doctor wants to rule out afib and irregular heartbeats that could be causing mental fog.

other errands
Bank - Done. Also got print out for last year interest which the cpa has been patiently waiting for.
Gym - Done. It is a yearly fee they will refund.
Ace - Done. The gas chainsaw didn't have anything wrong with it. It appears DH can't pull quick enough to get it to start. So we bought a battery operated chain saw. Problem solved.
CPA office = done. Dropped off the paperwork he needs.

We are home for an hour before leaving for our next medical appts and errands in the city. Normally I would leave DH home but I don't feel confident doing that. So he will join me and DD13 in our adventures. Today DH was asked what our home address was but he couldn't remember it. 99% of the time DH seems fine but these pesky memory loss incidences keep happening.

City appts and errands planned -
** DD13 HPV shot. We are late getting this 2nd and last shot of the HPV series.
** HLobby for DD13 to select a treat. It's my rule for the kids. Get a shot....get a treat.
** DD13 to her counselor appt.
** Pharmacy to pick up 5 prescriptions for DH
** Sam's to stock up cans of soda and chips for DS15 to put into his lunch bag. Note to self....buy chips that I don't like! I don't want the temptation of having potato chips in the house. DS15 likes super-hot spicy chips so keeping those in the house is no temptation to me.
** Charity store to drop off donations
** Subway to get food for family evening meal.

I expect to be back home by 7pm.
