Thursday's Thoughts PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Good morning! The village is open, streets swept, plants watered. We're just waiting for you this morning.

What are your thoughts today? Sale of Lucylee's dh's truck? Katheryn at the cottage and her walks? Nancy and freezing her soup? And Harriet had a dr appointment yesterday too. LadyM's ds making his own hair appointment?

Thank you for those thoughts this morning Twins' Mom.

I've taken the compost, garbage and recycling down to the end of the driveway. The recycling just got picked up. Someone at knitting suggested that we have a cheap (dollar store) toilet brush to use to wash outside garbage bins with in the summer time. I went and bought one, and I need to use it today. He (yes, it was a man who knits and stitches many beautiful things) said to use "one or two drops of dish soap" as well. He and his wife have been customers of this knitting and quilting store in both locations. He is also a teacher, so we don't see much of him. We had been discussing nasty, creepy, wriggling things in garbage cans at the time. Who says knitting is boring?? Not at that group!

I've done some large pots from a couple of nights ago and refilled the dishwasher.

No idea of what is for supper.

I think LadyM's ds is doing a great job because Lord and LadyM did such an awesome job of raising him!

Good morning.
What a spiffy village, Twins'. Don't do too much on our account while you are healing!

After one of those no-good very bad days yesterday, reported briefly in J and C, I'm looking forward to quiet here today. It had been our intention to go grocery shopping, but HRH made the decision to have a delivery today instead, and we just got that put away. I awakened this a.m. and realized 2 items I forgot to put on the list last night, but mostly we have what we need.

TaDas after long trip yesterday included me just going out by myself to pharmacy later. I really wanted the veggie sandwich at a relatively nearby burger joint, but I looked at the sky and wisely decided night was falling, go on home.

I had baked a cake of cornbread and we'd had a poor-girl's late lunch - I was just feeling sorry for myself.

Took up for myself at pharmacy, where I had been turned away three days ago, told that I could not pick up my thyroid ("natural" type, you know from Armour - not really a pharmaceutical anyway, and zero help from any entity paying a dime on the high cost except customer). Bossy employee at window yesterday says "of course" I could have had it; it had been filled and sitting there. :x Well, I was just on my last straw after a long day, so I insisted we stay there at the window, then, and recount all the events recorded on her computer screen until we both agreed that - wow - I actually HAD been turned away 3 days ago following their call to come pick it up, and had had to wait until my pills ran out before being allowed to take my prescription in hand... .. right? Right.

Sigh.

Cathy, your craft group sounds fun and interesting. Wish there was still anything resembling that type of store near here. Four towns away, there is one I think, but the traffic situation there is formidable and you can get caught sitting in jams at the drop of a hat. Everyone here dreads going to that area. In big city, places are just gone.

one of those no-good very bad days yesterday
((((Harriet)))))

I am home from medical trip #1 with two more appts to do today.

I took DS16 to family doctor office without entering his building. While sitting in the parking lot I paid the $30 copay on the phone by giving credit card number. Then the nurse came out to the car and did the typical things - ask symptoms and wrote them down, checked his temperature, checked his pulse and oxygen level. Then she took multiple swab tests from nose and throat. We left and came home. On the way home I stopped and got DS16 a frozen yogurt and then another stop for a 44oz ice drink because cold things makes his throat feel better.
About 30 minutes later the NP called with results. Negative for C19, negative for flu A, negative for Flu B, negative for strep. The NP said his pulse was up and fever, so she is calling in a prescription z-pac to the pharmacy. Said if DS16 isn't better by Monday to bring him back.

I called the dentist office to cancel DS16 appt for this afternoon since he is sick. I want to talk to the dentist about my dental health so I asked to have DS16 appt for myself. So DH and I will go to the dentist by ourself this afternoon. While in the city I will pick up DS16 prescription from the pharmacy. I will be keeping a close eye on the clock to get back in time to get DD13 from school.

Morning girls…

After 5 days of being under the weather I think I’m on the mend. My hiatal hernia has decided to act up along with my headaches. Headache meds mess with my stomach so there was little I could do. I do have meds for nauseousness for my headaches, but none for my stomach so I just started using them to see if I could get my hernia to settle down. Seems to be working at the moment and last night I was finally able to take my meds for headache. I been living on yogurt, saltine crackers fro the dollar store which turned out to be stale… ate some anyway… and hamburger buns. The bread that I buy for Sweetie has seeds.

I had a couple of tough days but hopefully I’m over the hump. Hot oatmeal and bone broth are on my list to eat today.

Lucylee… I understand about your dilemma concerning your husbands car. I will have the same problem in the future with Sweeties Shelby Cobra which he designed a built. It’s his pride and joy, but it will be impossible for me to drive. He is still driving it around our community at least once a week and I’ve asked him what he wants me to do once he can no longer do that. He says he plans to sell it, or if for some reason it becomes apparent he can’t do it, then I should.

We can sell the Cobra for $55k+ which is really a large chunk of money and like your cousin, we have a neighbor that wants first dibs on it when the time comes.

Something else you should think about and consider. Once you sell the truck, the price of your car insurance will drop, and that will help free up some additional monies for you.

Nancy… I love taco soup!!!! Easy to make and very tasty! Plus there are plenty of different recipes online to choose from.

It’s L day for me again! (laundry) it sure spins around fast. We also have elections going on so later today Sweetie and I are going to the poling center to turn in our ballads.

My granddaughter had her first kindergarten day yesterday and both parents survived lol!

I didn’t get weepy when my son first start cause he was so eager to go. My son kept telling me their daughters safety in school was a major concern. I had to remind him, like Lucylee, I was responsible for the safety of 90+ students every day and took that responsibility very seriously.

We had lock down practice all the time and I had procedures my classes practiced as well. I did not take these kinds of threats lightly. Much is talked about the students and little about the teachers who would do anything to protect their “kids”. That was always in the back of my mind and I bet the same with Lucylee.

Time to flip my laundry…. See y’all later

I'm coming back through. I had body work at 10 so rushed out, came back through for a couple of minutes, then on to grocery store. I'm tired and it's hot out there! I'm sitting down to read a little. Perishables all put away.

Rosie: that's a good point about LucyLee's car insurance costs going down. Another reason to sell sooner rather than later (but we'll give her some time to find the registration papers!)

I'm about ready for a nap. I thought I slept ok last night but here I am exhausted and not having done much.

I got dressed fairly early and left at 9:30. Stopped on the drive out to tell dh what I was up to and the plans for the morning as he was coming back from his walk.

I ran into our small town grocery store for vegetables, milk, and frozen berries. Deliveries to the store are Tuesday and Friday. Today is Thursday and when I walked in I noted the 20' cooler section with fresh fruit and vegetables had blackberries, grapes, celery, garlic, green peppers, and carrots (both in a bag and loose.) That was it. (Potatoes and onions are not in that section and I didn't look to see what shape their shelf was.) At least there was milk (that isn't a given up here) and I got 4 berry medley for my frozen berries (and they tasted great with my yogurt.)

Put the things away, changed into my swim suit and then we headed to the camp ground and went swimming with ds and family. Dgs3 had a great time and was upset to leave the beach but thankfully the children he was playing with took their cue from our packing up to pack up themselves. Turns out they are at the campsite across from ds's so dgs may have some playmates nearby.

Came home and had a very late breakfast after washing the sand off our water shoes in our lake and hanging up our towels to dry (the suits dried on us.)

Now I want that nap. I figure it was the fresh air and sun that exhausted me.

(raising hand) Another villager here, who seemed to have slept well, yet still napped. I do seem to be in some kind of self-care mode. Ddil sent me info that is somewhat reassuring and says she has already bought a suture kit for her house and put an "appt" for me on her calendar for that small job later, lol. HRH is scrambling to reimburse her for what she hasn't even done yet, so I will let them out-generous each other.

Even without the grocery ingredients I'd have liked, I came up with a very good smoothie recipe anyhow, just with extra of the very dark kale, lol. How can you complain about extra kale. A little disappointed I also won't have spinach, which I put into cooked dishes, but, hey, what if I chopped extra kale up very fine... .. smile.

I see some laundry that can keep our household humming along.

((Ramblin')) The saltine crackers that have individual packaging for stacks is so helpful here. We forget about saltines until we suddenly wish for them, and that way there is still a "new" smaller pack. Kinda sorry to use so much plastics, but then maybe less waste of the whole.

Well, it’s a slow day here. I stayed in bed most of the day.
I figured I had a long day yesterday and I didn’t feel too guilty about wasting today.
Now though, I’m s2s and running errands —
Pay yard man
Drug store
Post office
Fill up car
Pick up ddil, her mom, and Dgd
Go to dgs’ first football game.

He may not even get on the field, but it is very bittersweet. Dh had looked forward to seeing this probably since the day dgs was born … 4th generation to wear our school colors.
Tomorrow is another day.
