Feel-Good Friday PWYC
Self care tips anyone? Several from yesterday come to mind: napping, dr and dental care as needed, walks, massage, staying in bed for the day when conditions warrant, and eating judiciously when ill. We're living examples of feeling good and taking care of ourselves!
What can we add to our list today?

Re: Feel-Good Friday PWYC
Good Morning!
Twins - Thank you for opening the village today.
Being intentional is my best self-care tip. Everybody has different needs and requirements at different phases of their life. Be aware and intentional with choices in taking care of ourselves.
DH and I were outside near sunrise while it was cool (80ish) to unload the vehicle. We bought 10 bags of salt pellets (44lbs each) yesterday but delayed unloading them because of the heat.
We had a weird weather event happen about sunset last night. We received 2.75" of rain in about 30 minutes. It included multiple microbursts 70mph winds and continual lightning. During that storm our temperatures dropped 20 degrees. WOW! It was a powerful weather event to experience. Another strange thing is just a few miles away they got nothing. This powerful storm was very isolated.
Today is another medical test for DH. Our family doctor continues looking for a clue in what is happening in DH brain. This test is an easy one - Max pulse test
9am and both kids are still asleep. DS16 isn't working today because of being sick. The house is quiet and calm. ****soaking up the moment***
LucyLee - how was your DGS first football game?

Re: Feel-Good Friday PWYC
Hi!
I was having a bad afternoon yesterday. Laid down to read and I had to change the sheets. Happily all laundry is now done.
Today is making up for yesterday. Two loads of laundry done and put away. Both stinky garbage cans have been emptied. Dh had a complete fish in the freezer, which he cooked last night for his supper, because there was no way I was planning on eating.
Dh has taken a load to the landfill, which includes a bag full of empty meat trays and the fish parts from last night. Yay!! All stinky garbage is gone!!
Before dh left for the landfill he brought in a bunch of tomatoes and RASPBERRIES!! Woo hoo!! For the first time in 9 years, we finally had a raspberry bush that provided fruit. Actually the one that somehow got planted in the front gardens might have fruit on it this year. Flowers were spotted a while ago. I ate the 4 raspberries, and they were soooo good. I trimmed and chopped the handful of strawberries and made strawberry jello for supper tonight. I also got 1 full bag of plum tomatoes and a full bag of regular (beefsteak) tomatoes for the freezer.
So far it's been a very productive day. I even ran the dishwasher and it just beeped at me.
Home made burgers for supper tonight.

Our home didn't stay quiet and calm for long.
The HVAC fella is here installing parts to fix a/c unit. I put the two big dogs into DS16 bedroom to keep them contained while a/c man is working both on outside and inside of the house.
I wonder if raspberries will grow here?

After I posted, I made a banana bread. No more zucchini to go into them. Then dh got home from doing his errands. We just had brunch. I had tuna sandwiches on white bread with mayo and pepper. I should have left out a tomato. I'm sure we'll have more tomorrow.
LadyM you should ask friends and neighbors if they have ever planted them.

Re: Feel-Good Friday PWYC
I have never heard of or seen anyone growing raspberries here. A quick search online shows they don't like 100+ heat. ohs well.
Our dentist was able to talk to the recommended periodontist and I have been accepted as a new patient. I have appt on Sept 6th. I am happy to have a next step, but I am also dreading it. Putting it out of my mind for now.
HVAC fella is still here working alternating between inside & outside.
Almost 11am and the teens are still sleeping.
They just made public a VDFriend son's scary story. I worked in the same office with his Mom for over 20 years and watched Trent grow up. Since this accident happened, he has returned to doing what he loves (flying f-16) and is currently deployed.

Wow, LadyM! That is an amazing story. I’m so glad it turned out so well!!!
Ballgame was good. We won 24-0. Of course dgs saw no action, but he stood on the sidelines as good as anyone! They have a HUGE team; it will be hard for the coach to get them all in for most games, so we’re not expecting a lot. But it was a nice night and I just hope somehow, dh knows.

Re: Feel-Good Friday PWYC
After taking 6 weeks off to build a house boat on the lake, our DFriend returned to cooking for the public on Friday's. I missed this weekly treat. I wrote my order down before i went because it was long. They were teasing me about how many people I am feeding. My answer.....Multiple Teenagers!
DS16 is pacing the floor like a caged tiger. He is feeling better, and his fever is gone. My instructions were that he can't be around friends until 24 hours of being fever free. The last time we took his temperature was 3pm yesterday and then he took Tylenol and Nyquil. The fever didn't return during the night and he doesn't have fever this morning. Teenage boy reasoning is he will meet the 24 hour homebound guidelines at 3pm today. Pick your battles and this isn't one that I am picking. None of us have gotten sick and DS16 will be outdoors so it doesn't feel like we are putting anyone in danger of getting whatever he had.
I am leaving in a few minutes to take DH to the city for his test.

Re: Feel-Good Friday PWYC
I’m s2s (
at almost 2:30) and I’ve done my morning routine of stretching, breakfast, Bible reading, and GriefShare workbook.
Dfriend sent text asking if I could meet for lunch Monday. I was just thinking about texting her, so I was so thankful that she hasn’t dropped out of my life. You know, a lot of people say that is a big problem after they lose a spouse.
So glad your ds is feeling better, LadyM! Hope all goes well with LordM’s doctor visit.
