Satisfying Saturday

Satisfying: producing pleasure or contentment by providing what is needed or wanted.

Keeping it short. Our power is off and only phone for posting.

Hi! Thanks for opening us up this morning Twins' Mom!

Dh and I had a very long talk at the supper table last night. Cleared up a lot of things. Talked about future things as well. I slept well last night.

We are having perogies and cabbage rolls for supper. It's muggy here today. We had a lot of rain last night and more rain is expected today. Lots of AC and fans going right now. We had some windows open last night and by this morning it was uncomfortable in the house.

Dh has a very sore back today, so I put a heating pad on his back after he laid on the bed just now.

I'll join you in the whiny moments, Nancy. I am in a mood today, after the same yesterday. Just so tired of the heat the cast the wrist. And frustrated with the dog and dh and on and on. We go to the river today but I still have to shower. I assume the cast is in part, what is leaving me perpetually overheated but I am sweating from making myself breakfast. Along the way, I let the skillet overheat and smoke before I got the omelet into it, and then dumped the bit of whey from the ricotta cheese onto my omelet plate too. My mind is all over.

At least the power is back on. While off, I couldn't make coffee of course, and then dropped my coffee cup with its bottom contents trying to get ice from the freezer for iced coffee.

And a strap broke completely on the thing I've been using to keep my arm dry in the shower. Now I have to wrap that elastic around my arm tightly and when I showered last I couldn't get it loosened with one hand.

My bad awful terrible day.

Yesterday was the heat, the dog, and dh and his lack of help with dog, supper, getting house straightened for dcleaning lady and misunderstandings.

I probably do need to get out of the house today. I'm on the verge of tears most the time this morning.

Good morning & hello to Twins, Cathy & Nancy :)

Playing catch up this weekend & hope to do some planning tomorrow. I set up a folding table here in the office to make it easier to sort & organize things. Originally it was to move everything off of my desk which is covered in misc papers :oops: . Nothing important like bills, just lots of things of interest to look up like possible places to visit for day trips or longer vacations, recipes, books I might want to read, etc in the form of magazine pages, post it notes & misc scraps of paper. But instead of starting with the desk I took a small pile of misc that was on the floor & moved it all up onto the table to sort & put away. I'm determined to clean this office up, & will work on one section at a time. There are two bookcases, a storage cabinet, & a closet to deal with, too but the desk will be next. Realized that I also need to factor in going through my computer -- I have way too many old emails & word docs to delete. If I don't do that consistently it really piles up.

Trying to decide if I want to run two quick errands today or wait until Monday morning. I'll decide after lunch. Nice that the weather is only in the 80s lately & we've had some nice soaking rains recently.

Dinner tonight will be hot chicken, mushrooms & provolone cheese on toasted buns with potato salad. Maybe some sliced tomatoes on the side. Will be back later this weekend to check Members and J&C.

~~~Waving to everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day. :)
PS -- Just saw your last post in the post review, Twins. Sorry you are having such a bad day. ((Hugs))
Stomping my foot along with Twins' and Nancy, who both deserve better! :( tired, whiney, frustrated, and where is that electricity, anyway (mine continues in main parts of house but out in LR and front hall, outdoor front light).
Not that we'll have a clue when ... .. ( :| ) but dd26 and dsonil will be by sometime today. They are picking up an old coffee table from dd44's house, even though - as I learn only from them - it will just be the 3 younger boys there.
Kinda got my nose out of joint because dd44 and DangerBoy are gone today, back to college. I feel as though we could have been told more about this - I think this idea that 'Mom doesn't feel well' translates to 'Mom can't even take in information', which is ridiculous, and also leaves HRH out completely. Because of my fever the last time I saw our college boy, I didn't ask for a hug, but that was long over.
Glad the laundry catch-up happened yesterday. I had a big salad last evening and plenty of berries over my cereal recipe/batch this morning.
Trying to get my planner caught up again. My little mascot animal stickers at top of the past two weeks' pages have been sad looking or closed-eye ones to go along with all the medical appts. Tomorrow morning I'll get out some funny ones, ready or not.
Hopes - In the sewing room, I know I would like to get the partially-done bib finished, put away for whoever may have a shower next, and then get back to the plan of helping dgdC with learning the sewing machine.
Dove, it is very good to see you checking in on us. I think you are smart to get another surface (folding table) for sorting when tackling a project, btw.
Good Morning
((((Hugs))) to those struggling today.
I woke up early and ready to get started on the day. I could not talk myself into staying in bed. I finished my morning mile before the sun was up. I do enjoy the quiet mornings when I am the only one awake.
DS51 called to chat this morning. I treasure these long conversations catching up on their doings. Yesterday was his oldest birthday so now DGS17 is 18. DH and I called DGS18 yesterday to sing Happy Birthday to him. DGS18 is in his Senior year at High school. This is his second year of concurrent enrollment in college. He will graduate high school with a college associate degree. DGS18 is drawn toward a political career but first he plans to get a law degree after college. DGD13 is excelling in school while doing cheer, choir and equestrian. DDIL continues to own/manage an equestrian facility with 53 horses boarded. DS51 is at the top rung of his career. It is a busy season of their life.
I spent several hours this morning on homeschool lesson plans. I have lesson plans completed through the end of August and each daily assignment is on DS16 calendar. I have 3 of the curriculum lessons planned through the end of September but need to circle back and finish the other curriculum lesson plans for September. But for now, the pressure is off me to get DS16 homeschool lessons planned. I have some breathing room. ***Big Sigh of Relief***
Nancy - Sounds like you hit the jackpot. So happy for you.
will work on one section at a time
Dove - I am interested in how your project progresses. I would love to hear more.
New phase of life experience.....I just ordered 3 pizzas then handed my credit card to DS16. He and a friend just left to pick the pizzas up. I am loving this new phase of life where I am not making multiple trips out of the house every day.
A week or so ago we abandoned part of our home because the a/c unit wasn't working. Yesterday they got the a/c fixed so now we can start using that part of the house again. After the teen boys finish eating pizza, I am going to have them move furniture back into that part of the house.
With this furniture move, I have discovered some furniture that I want to get rid of. A Couch, dining table with 8 chairs, upholstered rocking chair, and a swivel office chair are all going out by the road with a FREE sign. Those teenage boys will be earning their pizza. :)
