Splendid Saturday

Post by bittersweet »

Good morning, village! I'll just give things a quick sweep and tidy, lay out some pastries, coffee, tea, and fruit.

Things will be busy here today as I sweep and tidy my own home. My dbrother and sis-in-law will be arriving from England in three and a half weeks!While we don't have a guest room, I know they're going to want to see the house, so I'd rather it was at least reasonably clean and tidy! :roll:

At least life has settled down a bit now that dMum is out of hospital and back at home! It was serious enough that dsis flew out from Ottawa for a week. I don't think she has a huge amount of time left, but it would be devastating if she passed before dbro got here! She does seem to have bounced back better than anyone expected, though. Not too bad at all for someone who's 87, and has both COPD and CHF.

Time to get some stuff done here

- put away clean dishes
- clean off coffee table
- feed ddoggos

Mornin', bittersweet!
you have some birthday greetings from the other day
We'll cheer you on in the next weeks. Fun to think of tidying for your brother's family visit! So happy your dmother is doing well.

One TaDa from yesterday is that I visited my colorist yesterday. Humidity continues to amaze me this year. My hair seems to be reporting, "and now, for something completely different".

HARMONY has a birthday coming up on 28th, so one PODA adventure for today might be trying to get out to the mailbox today with a card, as some chatted about earlier here. I think I could still just make the mail Monday and it get to her, but who knows. I myself love the belated ones because it's like it extends the cheer a little longer. In Members, we have her address - it's about 5 threads down - the address later with her dd.

Good Morning

Bittersweet - Thank you for the splendid start today. Glad to hear your DMom is out of the hospital.

Yesterday I tried a potential new habit, and it went well. I am not comfortable committing to doing it every day yet, but I do want to try doing it again today. We will see how it goes.

Well, that list didn't take very long to get done! :lol: Now that I've caught up on all the birthday wishes (thanks y'all!!), I'd best get back to work.

- pick up doggo blankets in the living room (they love to spread them all over!)
- wash dishes
- clean off/wipe counters and stove

I made a pot of my favorite soup. A dozen or so kinds of vegetables, 2 types of legumes and a couple of types of meat. Most of the vegetables were grown in my garden. It does take me about 30 minutes to clean & chop all the vegetables, but I love them so I consider it worth spending my time doing it. The entire pot of soup only has 815 calories with 37% protein. #MyKindOfFood

Boring weather chatter. Totally skippable.
I am watching with great hope the predicted forecast. We have 3 more days of triple digit heat and then it drops into the 90's on Tuesday. Okay...maybe it is more of a mental thing because Tuesday is 98 which isn't far from triple digit but IMHO it looks like summer extreme heat is about over. Yesterday locals were posting pictures of their thermometers here and there because they were showing 114 or 115 when the weather person said it would only be 109. I suspect we might be getting cranky and tired of this heat.

Another quick round over and done. I should probably get some breakfast before I get started again. Dh made it home from work and is just having something to eat before he heads off to bed. Luckily, he's a fairly heavy sleeper, so I can work around him to some extent.

At the moment, I'm watching/listening to a documentary about ancient Greece on D*sn%y plus. I've already gone through all the documentaries on ancient Egypt, and most of the ones about the Maya and the Inca (can you tell I like documentaries? :lol: )

- eat breakfast
- vacuum living room
- clean off the bench in the living room

LadyM I can't even imagine living in that kind of heat day after day!!

New sheets went through the wash already.

Breakfast has been eaten, meds taken, bananas out of the freezer to thaw for banana bread, and it's time for another round. Eventually, I'll run out of steam but, until then, I guess I should use my energy productively :lol:

- vacuum living room
- s&s bathroom
- dust living room furniture

Good morning! :)

Watered flowers & filled birdbath this morning, then dropped off mail at the Post Office on the way to our local farm stand. Picked up our usual corn on the cob & tomatoes (so delicious), plus a few cucumbers this time for cucumber salad.

Puttered & put away when I got home, then fixed some hot cocoa & here I am. I like cocoa even on hot summer days; it's like coffee for me. Pleased that my folding table next to my desk is completely clear. It was nice to get a compliment from dh when that happened earlier this week. It took me some time to go through the pile that was there (that used to be a pile on the floor) & now just one plastic bin is on the table. It holds all the misc scraps of paper that were on my desk. It's so nice to see wood now! :) . It feels so much better to have a clean surface. I've realized that I have been procrastinating on going through it. Like Pam & Peggy used to say, a pile of papers is a pile of decisions. So instead I'm working my way through old emails every day, but will set the timer & commit to at least 15 minutes a day working my way through that basket. I'm hoping that once I get started I'll want to continue & get more done. I haven't been able to devote as much time as I would like to this desk project as some unexpected things came up & I was out of the house more than I planned to be.

Having a roast beef sandwich for lunch, & pizza for dinner.

~~~Waving to everyone! Hope you are all enjoying this Splendid Saturday. :)
Well, I managed to get completely sidetracked! :roll: I did vacuum the living room, then DS came upstairs to ask about a job I wanted him tto do today. Then we got talking about groceries, and I looked something up on the W@alm@rt website. Now the grocery order is put in...LOL I guess I'd better get moving in a few minutes and do the other two jobs before I get sidetracked again :lol: I think I'll also do part one of dParkerBarkerdummybuttdog's haircut. The clippers tend to overheat, so I can only do part of him at a time.
