I liked Cathy's start for us last Tuesday - and her reminder about hot spots! I have been noticing hot spots again, thanks to her reminder last week!

I have done qt & bfast and journaled.
So glad that I did tidy up the kitchen counters last nite before bed made my morning so so much better yea!
We have some drizzle happening here this morning.
Tues. Trash day and mine is at the curb glad I prepped it last nite before hand.

Vacuumed three bedrooms upstairs
Walked with ddoggo
Cleaned up some tall stools to paint & mixed up some paint for them as well.
Mixed up paint and did a test board it is great! Yea!
Brought can back from the curb no mail when I checked while I was out there.
Had lunch.

Morning Girls…

Up and did my morning routines before the fellow came to finish the lania screens. I’m going to let Einstein loose but first want to see how the mopping part of him works. Know it won’t do as good of a job as my regular, but am interested to see what it can to do.

Tooth is done but now need to see my regular dentist so she can finish it up. Thinks she has to cap it. In the meantime I need to be careful with biting things. It’s my front snaggle tooth so that presents some challenges

Sweetie is working on our lania fixing this and that. We love our new screens. The screens are attached to a frame that we can move up and down with a remote like a window shade. We’ve decided to go ahead and do some deep cleaning … the outside ceiling fans need to be clean an Sweetie want to do them. Our gas grill was installed in the granite counter and we both feel it’s not save to work so will look for another one to replace it.

Sweetie loves to work around the house and it keeps his brain busy. I asked that he take the globe on our living room fan off so I can clean it. Lots of dead bugs in it. He also fixed one of my kitchen cabinet door because it was come loose.

Seems we need to make a HD run. I am out of some cleaning supplies and I need several large plant dishes to put under my pots.

Thinking of those with their mothers on their minds - don't know why. I will surely miss someone... .. but
bittersweet, planning for a visit to her mother and her own family by her brother she hasn't seen in a while.

HRH is at his dental cleaning. He didn't need me for that, so I was able to enjoy a healthy brunch. He wasn't sure if he would be doing some errands on the way home.

Our rains are supposed to finish today. We did not have the flooding other areas around us did. Also, no real lightning or thunder, so that was a blessing.

Tidy-Up has seen me working on the usual Tuesday mud room/trash/recyclables/kitty-potty chores. So far, so good.

Good Morning!

I am home from the yearly IEP meeting for DD13. There were 5 people in this meeting. I find it perplexing how some words have become such a hot topic. Today the word was transition. What used to be such an easily used and widely understood word will now get you blocked on some systems if used. Our state requires the IEP student to be transitioned at the age of 13 or the ninth grade. The speech teacher was blocked when she used transition services and had to go to a different system. In DD13 case, transition services are a state mandated requirement for her to start the process of considering her future career and researching a plan to implement it. ANYway, all the paperwork is filled out and signed by everyone. DD13 IEP is finalized for another year.

I have given DS16 permission to drive 120 miles roundtrip to watch his girlfriend play volleyball this afternoon/evening. I am uneasy with him doing this drive but remind myself that my concern will eventually dissipate as he becomes experienced in making solo trips.

LadyM… I understand your concern. When my son turned 16 he started driving by himself 4 hrs from his dads to mine home and back again when the stay was over. When he turned 15, we, his dad and I, made my son do all the driving with us in the car. By the time he turn 16 he and made this trip multiple times and had driven at least 10k miles we felt a bit better about letting him travel by himself.

We covered as many situations we could think of in case something went wrong. We had code words he could use when he was on a phone call to let us know if he was in trouble. He could also text us the word. He knew which exit had food and gas and how to contact the state police.

I-65 in the AL state has towns and cities along the way but there are far stretches of the interstate with nothing on it. He knew if either his dad or I called him, he was required to answer the call. Even back then his dad had installed a hands free iPhone car holder so being on the phone didn’t require my son to take his hands off the steering wheel.

Whenever I got an uneasy feeling while he was driving, I would call and say… just checking and my son needed to let me know what mile marker he was at. We had a map of all the mile markers along the interstate so we always knew where he was. Plus his dad owned a cellular company and had put a locaternn my sons truck… this was way before your phones or cars came with GPS systems.

Learning to let go is never easy for a parent, but your son seems to be a very awesome guy!

You have wide open spaces, LadyM! that's further than dd drove one way to college.

I've been distracted all around but have accomplished a few things:
-tidied up the hats, etc. at front door for walking the dog, the winter stuff in one bin, rest of year hats and baseball caps in another.
-made appointment to take car in for servicing on Friday
-finished paperwork for colonoscopy which I need to schedule
-boiled eggs for dh
-garage door repair this a.m., paid and he's gone....

I'm working out at two today - forearm and hand still sore from the "bendomatic" yesterday so I'll try to keep it light on upper body. Dh is out bowling tonight, I'm going to grill chicken later, I thawed it yesterday and then we ended up going out to eat.

Challenge: I need to finish a.m. routine earlier. Today it was 11:35. I did walk dog an extra lap this a.m. and I also had garage door guy to deal with but I need to do better!

One of the genealogy courses I took years ago was on records in the south, and the instructor was from my state and had a real "down home" vibe to him. One of the points he made on managing projects has stayed with me: think of projects as a plate for deviled eggs - the kind with the hollows for each half. Once the plate is full, no room for another unless one moves off. I'm going in twenty directions right now....every shiny object catching my attention. I need some discipline!

I made another pot of my favorite soup. My taste buds love how the soup taste and the macros are perfect for my needs. I never make it the same but am learning which ingredients I like the best. Six protein sources and 7 vegetables found their way into today's soup pot. I was disappointed when I discovered there wasn't room to add 2 more vegetables (beet and carrot) that I harvested from the garden. I will cube those fresh vegetables and freeze them to use in future soup.

Phone call from DS16 -
DS16 - What are you doing?
Me - Making soup
DS16 - Oh. Well then, never mind.
Me - Why did you call?
DS16 - I was going to ask if you would bring Jesse and me a drink. But you are busy so never mind.
Me - Did you and Jesse not plan ahead and take the drinks you need?
DS16 - We did but we have already drank them. It is HOT and windy today.
Me - Okay - I will bring you some more drinks. Where are you working?
DS16 - Giving directions to a pasture 8 miles away. You don't have to do it. We will be okay.
Me - Let me find a place to pause in what I am doing then I'll head your way. UNLESS I decide not to be nice today.
DS16 - laughing....you are always nice to me.
Me - Don't take that for granted. I might change my mind any day and not be nice anymore.
DS16 - I am not worried about that happening. Thank you for everything you do.
Note to self....that is how I lose an hour of my productive time which leaves me wondering why I don't get more done.....

I had a good workout, as always. Today was Ellie - she fills in now and then. I had her once before and she's okay. Different that I usually have but still good.

I stopped for gas on the way home. Dh told me this a.m. that it had gone up overnight, but that one station near us still had a good price, so I went there and filled up.

I have nearly 9K steps so far today. I was short on Sunday so this will help. Still need to walk the dog this afternoon too.

I have been outside painting on the stools they are tall ones from black to aqua / teal color.
1st coat is on and drying now.
Had a break after dinner when I did the first one then figured out how to put a protective covering on the work surface and fit
the other one up there too. So got to it aw well. I did both or the tops first so I could invert them.

The disposal co. came by and I was right the can they left is smaller and I got it swapped out for the bigger one.
Yea the 2nd bag of onions left and got the third one in the new can and they are out of the carport now.
