CAN DO ATTITUDE, Thursday Sept. 26, 2024

Post by blessedw2 »

Good day to you!!!

Another new day - I am always surprised by the miracle of it!

At first I woke up and saw the things that are building up. I decided to have my coffee. I looked out in the garden and the saw the sun is just peeking in over the trees. I was awed by its beauty.

I have been sitting here, as the sun is moving down the tree's, enlightening all the leaves.

I realized, in that moment, that I was seeing the day as a burden instead of a blessing just based on my attitude. The day ahead is not about what I have or haven't done but that I was blessed with another new day. It's a gift.

So what is your day going to be? - What will your attitude be about the day that is ahead?
May you see the world from a young child's point of view - new and brilliant and living in the moment.

May you all have a wonderful day!!!

Praying for all in the hurricane areas!

Leaves
------------------------------------
by Elsie N. Brady

How silently they tumble down

And come to rest upon the ground

To lay a carpet, rich and rare,

Beneath the trees without a care,

Content to sleep,
their work well done,

Colors gleaming in the sun.

At other times,
they wildly fly

Until they nearly reach the sky.

Twisting, turning through the air

Till all the trees stand stark and bare.

Exhausted, drop to earth below

To wait, like children, for the snow.

The enlightenment of leaves. I like that.

Ramblin' is on my mind this morning, along with my dcousin and wife in mid-FL. Harmony, Dee's dd. All who are in the path.

Twins' for the remnant crowd they are waggling fingers at both you and me. Don't know about lucylee and bands.

Here at this moment, you say to yourself, "It's pouring rain" this morning, and then the decibel level changes and you realize no, NOW it's pouring rain. Yipes. Crocodile Dundee - you think that was rain, now THIS is rain. So, I'm sure Ramblin' is impressed.

Time to cozy in and take care. Batten.

I should email cousin earlier, not later.

okay, I did that.
also meant to say Kathryn's puddle made me wince yesterday.

Thank you for the encouraging words, bw2! and the sweet poem and picture of sun coming up and leaves flying. Here all is gray this a.m. The low pressure system that came in earlier has ended its rain and we're just waiting for rain from Helene, which is to start later today. Looks like what's left of her will be moving through here tomorrow day or overnight. Possible high winds. Utilities in our little subdivision are underground, but not outside.

Some progress, I have scheduled an appt with gastro for consult preparatory to colonoscopy before end of year. Since we've hit our out-of-pocket might as well do as much as possible.

My foot still hurts. Dr Google suggests tendonitis or stress fracture. Not sure how long to wait before having it looked at but I cancelled my workout today. And I need to be doing things but it hurts.

Dh made plans for us to eat out tonight (same restaurant as Monday) with former dneighbor and her adult son. We haven't seen her in a while, but I wish he would ask first. (Almost 100% chance of rain too.) He made plans yesterday for us to go out with dfriends A and V for their anniversary on Saturday night, then cancelled because he's supposed to go to local football game on Saturday night. (With a friend whose wife doesn't want to go, ha ha. I like to see that. )

I woke to see the break of dawn it was great!
Not much damage after the storm but a bit of pick up.
Might be time to put away some of the chairs that blew around a bit & cushions too.
It's 50* and not cool inside so that is good, the fan at night helped.
I am grateful for lights heat hot & cold running water power & great bs this morning!
QT & journal mostly done.

Deciding on a few things for my morning.
Like how many dog towels do I actually need. I could drop some by the vet on the way to town like I have done in the past
to declutter and they do use em and appreciate em. Ratty Towel Round up card is up!

Other fun thought I could put a "Free Wood" sign on the branch out front! LOL! Just for fun!

This is me cutting class on current events today it's not on my country of interest today.

It has been an unusually active morning - I had a good laugh with my neighbor:

My dogs started barking and I brought them in. (I don't like barking dogs making a nuisance of themselves. ( I saw the geese had populated the neighbors back grass.)

- Within a few minutes, of bringing the dogs in, I got a call from my neighbor. I was about to apologize for the dogs barking but he wanted me to let them out again - lol the geese were pooping all over his yard!

My neighbors wife was outside. She thought my waving my arms, with my two black labs in tow, chasing the geese, was absolutely hysterical. between his wife and I and the dogs we were quite a sight!

The geese have moved on to the neighboring lake.

dd took her dog to go for a walk and pick up d mom for meds and breakfast. They will come here. I wrote some jobs mom can do but I will leave it up to her.

cleaning angels are doing their magic - I wish dh would let them do the bedrooms

oh my we are a household today! I love it!

I have been wanting the cleaning angels at my mom's building to clean her apartment - turns out she has turned them away for the last 5 years 8-)
My mother is very very clean but things need to be done (especially after being away for 8 months.

Good morning

Blessedw2 - Thank you for the start and poem today.

The house is running smoothly
** DD13 was delivered to school with a good chat on the drive.
** DS16 is embracing his new independence. He is in charge of waking himself and getting out the door on time. He does come talk with me about his plans for the day before he leaves. I'm not thrilled about his fierce desire for independence, but it does seem to be a part of our family history. I can name examples of previous generations who were much more independent during youth.
** DH went on his very first solo trip since his TGA episodes started 6 months ago. He took Micro to the groomer this morning which is about an hour of driving. I think it is good for DH confidence and I felt comfortable with him making the trip safely.
** I am staying on top of my daily TCOM (take care of myself) healthy focuses. I am also marking off the daily must-do's on paper.

My surgery recovery continues. Today is day #6 and I can see progress being made. Yesterday I cut my OTC pain meds in half. Last night those aggravating floating loose sutures started to come out on their own. The two threads that were bothering me the most are gone. I get to start gently brushing the teeth on the surgery side tomorrow. I am looking forward to that! Baby stepping my way through this experience.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

Harriet… I’m doing fine. Lots of rain, wind and then sunshine. The storm is now parallel to my home but 150 miles west of me. The strongest winds will circle near us since we are on the lee side of the storm. Am expecting gust up to 70mph which has just start.

Once the storm and its band of rain and wind has past, the sun will shine. At the rate the storm is traveling I expect it should be over for us in about three hours. Harmony is about 25 miles north of me. She should be experiencing the same type of effects from the storms. Dee’s family is closer to Tampa where the storm will
Be stronger, but far from a direct hit.

I’m getting ready to make my lunch. Been doin laundry, changing the sheets on my bed and remade it again and waiting to the storm to literally blow over.

Once the storm passes through Fl it is heading Twins way. Even Lucylee May be effected as this is a very wide and strong storm. My weatherman is saying they are both in the path of this storm as will.
