Facilitate Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

facilitate: to make (something) easier

We're hunkered down here with the rain coming down. Wind is fine so far. Dh decided to just take off today - and I suggested that dcleaning lady come on Monday or Tuesday instead of this a.m. That puts cleaning closer to Rosh Hashana gathering and meant she doesn't have to drive in this too.

So I'm going to do what I can to make the day easier and to work toward some RH prep. I meant to get the brisket done yesterday and just never got there, so today will be a good time to have the oven going all day.

More: dh is probably going to drive me crazy today. He's bored already and trying to adjust the drawers in the kitchen - the two that never seem to close evenly. He's lying on the kitchen floor now.

My foot is still sore. Not much change. Okay as long as it's not being flexed.

I have a zoom meeting at 1 p.m. and then a webinar to watch at 3:30 I think. OMM today:
-straighten things up here since dcleaning lady isn't coming
-run roomba
-brisket in oven

What can I do today to facilitate Rosh Hashana prep?

Last night mom's ankles swelled up on her tiny little body. My fault - I missed her meds at night time - the night before.
My fault but still doesn't make sense that she had swollen ankles. dd younger gave her an extra pill of furosemide and we had her put her feet up before she went home about 10pm.

dd younger got her new shoes - softer side shoes - mom only wears troentorp clogs but I think she needs a size bigger.

We had a moment: She was deep into watching "Lilies of the Field" . She turned to me and forgot that my brother was my brother and that I was who I am - that I was someone who took care of her.. She laughed - and then was wowed that she had forgotten who I was. At least she found it humorous.

It doesn't upset me - I have been through Dementia and Alzheimer's so many times with other family members - this was a joyful surprise for mom.

Before I sit too much:

empty dw and put away last night's dried dishes from the counter
go to moms: 10 am wake up mom- give her meds and breakfast
work on my garden
bring mom to our house and give her clippers for the patio dead heading

goal: bring out a game she and all of us like.
have a fire outside if it doesn't rain

May you all have a wonderful day!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Good morning

Cathy is in my thoughts. Every day.

My morning has been productive and fairly smooth. I always try to pause, appreciate and be thankful for calm, kind, and supportive interactions with others.

DD13 is going to spend the weekend with DD47. This is the second weekend that DD47 has asked her to come stay. There was 4 months when she didn't ask. Hopefully DD47 is in a better place mentally where she can include DD13 in her life. As long as she is safe, I support 1000% DD13 spending as much time as possible with DD47.

Kitchen plans.....I am cooking cheeseburger sliders today for the family. I want to make a pot of my favorite protein/vegetable soup for myself.

Garden plans .....harvest okra, tomatoes, peppers. Plant radishes, swiss chard, and broccoli seeds.

4 room switch project - Clear out the STUFF from the final corner of DS16 new-to-him-abode. This is a double table that has been used as the central site for all things homeschool for the past 9 years. Dismantling the homeschool organization is more emotional than I expected. I put a lot of time and effort into this over the years and now I am taking it apart. DS16 is still being homeschooled but doesn't need all the things used in the early years. All those bulky history and science type books are no longer used. We have met the state standards for all the classes except ELA and Math.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

On phone. Power has come back on but keeps flickering so we're not trusting. Big cracks around us for the last hour as trees fall. Our closest lies along the very spot I sometimes park on extremely hot days. Dd44's closest lies within feet of Wonderboy's soccer net. The gusts seem over but then they are back.

More and more roads getting evacuated. I don't know where all those people will be packed in at shelters. I bet many will be taken in by friends. We've gotten two emergency messages that we are only to leave home if we are "fleeing". HRH walked outside against my advice to see trees and try to see the rest of driveway. Sigh. If they are not underfoot they are taking chances.

Tomorrow, it stands to reason, will be the worst day of flooding. That's the way it always is. Not the day of but the next day. The creeks will swell and all kinds of odd troubles will show up. So we will just hunker down. Have not heard from ds but I hope he has slept.

So I texted him that. Nope. He says he's had two 30- minute naps since 6:30 yesterday morning. They are rotating naps. He says busy busy busy all night.

Oh good. Ramblin', it is good to see you peeking in
