thank you dear Harriet!!! Merry Christmas Eve!

Hello everyone!!!

I finished the tree yesterday and I finally have the Christmas spirit but am in shock that it is Christmas Eve! :D
I am making the jello thingy (layers of red and green jello with hot water and then a cup of vanilla ice cream) for tonight at d sis in laws and rest of family. I love seeing the great nieces and nephews 2 yrs to 17 yrs old. with their awe of Christmas - 17 year old is more a slight smile :D but it is a smile!!! Always a joy!

I am wishing you all a wonderful day!!!

I have my one slipper but I think dd's dog took the other either it's outside or up in bed with him - why - I have no idea :D

Hi!

I've been up for over 2 hours doing some quiet jobs. I had 3 piles of books to be moved from various places into the library. They need to either be reshelved or donated. The pile on my desk was almost 18 inches high. The pile on my bedside table was at least 12 inches high. Who needs an empty tissue box beside the bed? I really want to dust today, and so much stuff was in the way.

Then there was (and is) the kitchen! Lots of containers to refill, like the small coffee container beside the stove, the pepper grinder, the hot pepper flake shaker for dh.

Now that 2 of the cats are outside, I can vacuum. I think dh will most likely sleep through some of it. I can do the bedroom later.

The dirty dishes are in the dishwasher and the small counter top compost bin in soaking in the sink. Dh gets juice from the oranges all over it.

In a perfect world, I would love to clear off the island, including moving the Kitchenaid stand mixer. My goodness that thing is getting heavier every time I move it.

Time to get up off this chair and do more stuff, like start the vacuum.

The early morning rays off my gaming computer (smile) send red and green light out the rear, playing through the window with the distant lights at a school. I've never noticed before, that's rather festive!

Cathy, you spoke so well in your evening post yesterday. Just perfectly.

I should say that I also had a blood test like Cathy's, that suggested, recently, that things might be more complicated than they really were. It was a biopsy that set the record straight for me as well.

lucylee, I hope you got a feeling of encouragement, as intended, from my terse post yesterday. When I reread later it sounded rather flippant.

The circumstances at that moment were a husband misdirected by the powers that be, while I was hooked up to an immovable set of responsibilities, lol. And STILL it was I who had to find him after an hour an a half of waiting on the pros. I called on my own phone to my dr's office and just said, "look, I think there's a man who looks like Santa in your waiting room, please tell him where his wife is!" And, after two more call transfers, , and yet another physical misdirection, they did. What a big facility. The nurses where I was receiving the fluids rushed to him as soon as he came in sight and tugged him to me without hesitating, lol. Dd26 was texting with me, quite appalled. I think she was nearly on her way over there.

I've gotten a lot of attention because my weight was down more than they wanted, but everything has tasted so awful, with nausea lurking. I got some tips on making things taste better, or seeking out things that taste better.

HRH made us a veggie stew last evening, highly spiced. That was good and even though I didn't have a large portion I finished every drop. Another winner has been orange juice.

Thank you Harriet. I re-read that post numerous times and almost deleted it because I thought I was too mean at the beginning and too mushy at the end.

I have vacuumed this entire tiny house other than the bedroom. I can sweep the bedroom after dh gets up.

Every single garbage can has been emptied. Recycling and burnable bag are ready to go outside. Litter box was done last night after one of the cats peed on my black crocs. They have been sprayed numerous times with a scent remover and now they are being washed in the sink. We know which cat does it and it's truly a "clean the litter box" attitude, she isn't sick. (She's just a you-know-what!)

Now I need to get the mop and bucket out and do the floors.

There, I've CUOP.

Yesterday I apparently celebrated Tibb's Eve without knowing it, I had a 3+ hour lunch with my best friend. We had a lovely time. I left a huge tip for the server to make up for the lack of the table turning over while we sat there.

Harriet: You are so right that HRH looks like Santa. At this time of year, anyone I see on the streets that looks like that makes me smile. I'm sure there are others like that so I'm sort-of glad he was out of place at the hospital a bit, making people do double takes or just smile to themselves.

My favourite Christmas Eve song is by the Oak Ridge Boys.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djqvJLoqT0U

Blessed: I too am shocked it is Christmas Eve. I need to get some BGS and get moving. There's lots left to be done (list to follow)

Harriet: about your brief comment to Lucylee yesterday, perhaps the plain words on the the screen sounded flippant but we all read them in your 'voice' with all the wisdom and experience you brought to them and so I thought they were perfect.

Cathy: I thought your post was perfect too. We don't always shout good results from the roof-tops for general consumption to all in ear-shot partly because not all cases turn out well and if we do it kind-of feels like we are saying the person who didn't have the same outcome as us must have done something 'wrong.' The downside to being sensitive to other's situations, is that the multitude of good outcomes seem muted and the poor outcomes are obvious as we watch people go through treatments or, worse, die. You were saying things can be dark and still have a good outcome. That's a fact and well worth sharing.

Now for my list.

[ ] S2S
[ ] Make up nuts and bolts for dh
[ ] In between that baking (they need turning every 6 minutes), I'll finish and print tonight's service (two prayers, probably cut and paste.)
[ ] package up nuts and bolts for ds who is coming at 4
[ ] possibly bake myself some more lemon squares as I'm giving the ones I have to ddil when ds comes
[ ] rearrange the tree. The grandchildren put 2/3 of the decorations on the bottom 1/3 of the tree. It is a bit out of balance.
[ ] keep up with email
[ ] watch the lovely snow flakes. It is a Christmas Card December 24th outside. It should stop by noon.
[ ] tidy the living room which is a disaster.
[ ] do nails
[ ] meal plan and grocery list
[ ] grocery shopping
[ ] fake laminate the luggage tag for dgs8's present
[ ] wrap presents (that might be tomorrow morning's task.)
[ ] charitable contributions (started yesterday but not finished)

When dh was having his coffee, he was saying he wasn't happy that I was up when it was still dark outside. I've been up since before 5. He knows it's because I wanted to get a lot of stuff done this morning. Right now my hips are screaming at me, so I'm taking a rest before I mop more floors. The rest of whatever I need to do can get done slowly between now and 4 when dd expects to get here. Right now our roads are clear but the patio and the driveway are kind of icy. I just sent dh a reel from FBook showing a guy using a flame thrower to clear his ice and snow. Dh has one, so I'm wondering if he'll go outside and do this. It would be interesting. I think that whatever got melted would refreeze and make things icier. (I just heard him laughing)

I need to try to stay off FBook reels and get the island cleared off.
