Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
One thing I know for sure, without having to put much thought into, is that I am not going anywhere today! We had a storm that started last night which has a layer of ice that is covered in snow from the storm earlier this week. Last night involved snow and wind, which created drifts and then there is a layer of thick ice on top of that. The temperature is around 30 or 31 F, because it's "only" minus 1 Celcius right now. No sunshine. The wind has stopped.
Today is compost/garbage/recycling day. I checked the latest updates on the region's page to see if they are delaying collection. Nope! I dressed in layers and took it all out. I started the truck and put everything into the back of the truck, cleared the ice off of the driver's side window and wind shield and slowly backed down the driveway.
Right now dh is watching a 24 hour news channel and it's cancellation after cancellation for Toronto, Niagara and other parts of southern Ontario. All school buses are cancelled, but there are some schools that are still open. Police are warning everyone to stay off the roads and there are numerous accidents.
None of the cats are outside. The oldest one put her paw on the snow and pulled it back and backed into the house. The youngest one who can't wait to fly out the door didn't even come down the hallway. She sat at the far end and watched the other 2 cats to see what they would do.
There are pork chops defrosting in the sink. After I finish my tea I'm going back into bed to read.

Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
Boy Cathy, that sounds like a wicked storm.. stay safe. Guess you don’t want to hear that it’s gonna be 88* here today and expected to break the high record for today!
It’s Thursday and I already have the laundry going. I decide to grab my coffee and crawl back to bed to watch the news. Have t done that in a very long time.
However I’m about to throw back the covers and put my clothes onto offically start my day
Have some office work to doa and the need to get my steps in. Who knew a little allergy pill could knock my headaches out!
Enjoy your day…BBL

Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
I was supposed to go to lunch but my cousin is sick as a dog with a stomach flu. Probably the best bc of the snow we had - I think 4"
The weather says it is 12 degrees and feels like -5 (probably because of the moisture in the air).
I just watched dh put almost 2 tsp of salt on his eggs after they were cooked - it sounds like he was chewing sand. -
his new theory is that it lowers his blood pressure. He has the most unusual beliefs about food - burnt toast removes all the sugar and so on.
I saw the moon this morning - it was beautiful.
I have been thinking about the pattern companies and wondering how they will be affected by Jo Ann's closing.
hope you all have a wonderful day!

Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
I have had some thinking cap moments challenges are winter temps.
Before I fell asleep I remembered dson told me he got a new charger on wheels for rigs.
So after this weekend storm; I'll see about the truck battery if his charger is some thing he could bring over here or I need to call the place.
OMM: Harriet & K in C.
A bit down after learning this region's JoAnn's stores are closing the one my town will be sorely missed by me. So I've been considering what to do about my planner supplies going forward. Hobby Lobby was supposed to open a store across the river but has not yet. I can get some things at W-mart when in stock but they do not have the planners I use so Amz. maybe I've ordered from them in the past. Or go back to Bu-Jo.
Thankful for heat; hot water; coffee maker; and 4 sizes of crock pots three of em are on the counter now!!!
None going glad for food in the house too. Also that one rig works.
No clue what I"m doing today yet. still waking up qt happened & journaling.
Vac. LR & bedroom empty kit. trash, clean under & behind couch ~ all done. got 1K steps in for this part of my day this is my goal yea!
Work on hot pad I have going & crochet edging to consider on knit project that I did finish yesterday.

Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
Good Morning!
My Thinking Cap Thoughts - What benefits do I get from social media? I have become a bit addicted to them. I want to find a balance between staying informed vs obsessively scrolling wanting to know the moment something new happens. It can be a form of entertainment like watching a high energy movie but there is also a dark side to it. When my attention is constantly focused on what is happening outside of my home, then I am giving up time, energy, and focus that I could be using for taking care of what happens inside my home that brings me joy and fulfillment. Do I need to go cold turkey and cut the cord to all social media? Our local FB groups, family and friends bring value and vital information of local happenings and events that directly affect me. Could I solve FB usage by setting boundaries for FB? What would those boundaries look like? Check FB 3 times a day for 5 minutes? What about the other social media? How do I find a balance? Is it important enough to me to put the effort into establishing boundaries on social media?
DH continues to be mentally sharp. He took DD13 to school this morning. I believe this is the first time he has done this since last summer. I don't want to get my hopes up but it is hard not to be a tiny bit excited about the possibility that medication interaction was causing his mental fog.

Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
Instead of going right back to bed, I made an omelet for dh and I using the leftover red peppers and onions from last night's supper. I made the peppers/onions/potatoes that usually go with Italian sausage, and more recently, any sausage. Instead of sausage last night, we had shake n bake chicken leg quarters. I have 1 leftover for lunch today. I've been trying different things lately. Unfortunately I have stopped using the calendar to list our meals. With having 3 different calendars, it was getting to be too much, so I stopped all 3. I really need to get back to the calendar with the meals.
After breakfast I started in on the dishes. I hate dishes.
Swamp People is on tonight, so I will need a nap at some point today so I can stay awake long enough to hear Troy tell Pickle to "Choot" the alligator! Unfortunately Mountain Men seems to have ended it's season and now I have to hear Troy and the rest of the crew hunting pythons in the everglades. UGH! Snakes! I will always choose snow over snakes, even this morning's ice encrusted, dangerous conditions. Seriously I was wondering how many broken limbs and heart attacks would be going to the hospitals while I carefully walked around doing what had to be done.
LadyM I found out that dh and I seem to be addicted to our computers when we had no internet. We did have cable, so the tv was on for over 12 hours on Tuesday and then again yesterday. Mind you, dh has to have background noise of some sort from the time he wakes up until he falls asleep with the tv blasting. Part of the problem is that my brother called to tell me he was sending the accountant an email. I had to wait over 20 hours before I could read it. Thankfully we don't need to work from home, but it was missed. I use a couple of recipe sites on a regular basis, even if sometimes it's just to check what temperature something needs to be cooked at.

Re: Thinking Cap Thursday
Taking a break…
Understand fb can eat up time. I look at it as reading a newspaper like I use to do in the morning. My news time in the morning usually starts at 7 in the morning till 8. During that time I watch and listen to the news, check my important fb pages, drink my coffee and take my vitamins.
On days I have class, I’m up at 6:15 and do the same cause I need to leave the house by 7:40. During the weekends my mornings are more flexible
My ADD has really kicked in this morning. Thankfully I know how to deal with it. Walk through each room with my basket picking up footprints. That way I can distribute them in the proper place as I go.
This morning I had to write a quicky list of what I need to do so I can stay focused. It’s part of my early morning routine and only takes a minute to do. Sometime I start my list the night before. This helps me stay focused when my ugly ADD raises its ugly head. Just follow the list and check it off when it’s done. Keeps the chaos in my head calm.
