Freedom Friday!!

Post by CathyS »

Today should be an interesting day, at least here in Canada. There is a lot of stuff about this on various news stations and on the internet. I don't know if the US has been following any international news, but there was an election in the province of Ontario yesterday and Premier Ford got a majority. He has been on various American news stations, being interviewed regarding various things. Any way...

Today is Freedom Friday! Are you boycotting anything today? Staying away from certain stores or certain websites? Maybe you are going to deliberately shop and spend money supporting local businesses. I wonder if Kathryn still drives their Tesla. Lots on the news about that company.

What are your plans for the day?

I hope to be able to get to knitting today. We are expecting a bad storm to start at some point and get really bad by the time the knitting group is over for the afternoon. So, the weather will determine whether or not I go.

Have a great day!!

Good morning, Cathy. I certainly have no need to purchase from the big, or big box stores today, so will probably be going along with the concept of purchases from local and smaller stores for a day. I worry about local businesses anyway, and small businesses in general. Wasn't able to catch the news much yesterday but that was because of my busy day, not that things weren't covered - I'll catch up on Ontario and the change. Things happen so quickly in Canada with elections, and several other nations, too. Lynlee used to talk about that for Australia.

Have a good time at your knitting group and try to miss the storms!

We had a brief storm pass through yesterday at dusk, but I don't believe more are forecast today.

I was awakened by poor Tobias vomiting. :( I got into in my slippers fast enough to see his location, so I got that (very small) mess cleaned up without much fuss. He has very seldom done this lately - can't really think how long it's been. So, I hope it doesn't mean anything.

Dh asked me if I wanted to burn stuff today because we had to be out where the sump pump is behind the shed. We decided it would be a great day to do this. No wind. We had 8 bags of burnables with one bag from Christmas! It's just been windy, windy, windy here every time I think I can get through the snow to the firepit. Today we still had to get through snow, but I was determined that we could get it done because there was already a path of foot prints in that general area. Now it's done!! (almost 10 weeks late for some of it) To be honest, IF I had emptied the 2 garbage cans that dh uses and the recyclable container beside my desk, there would be another bag. We use the paper leaf bags to burn the paper and cardboard in.

I don't use big box stores either bc we have a lot of local little places. I used to but I found I bought way too much when I did.

I know this sounds terrible but I choose not to be political in discussion groups or even in family/friend groups. I don't mind a good discussion but I have found that there are so many strong feelings that it is better to just enjoy each other and not go down that road.

poor Tobias

oops got to go

window washers/gutter cleaners are here and it's the perfect day -

Nothing will get one out of bed and into slippers faster than the sound of a cat or dog throwing up in the night. :D

I might just declare my own freedom and blow off everything I'm "supposed" to do that is out of the house today. I'm just tired of feeling like I'm on the run. Next week is easy. Two workouts and a teeth cleaning, and I'll reschedule the body work that I cancelled this week. I'm not opposed to doing things in the house today but I'd like some genealogy or stamping time.

Dh went to Rotary and came home, and is going to the gym to workout.

much later....

Walked three laps, two with dfriend M and R uby. Have had my breakfast/brunch. Most of a.m. routine done. Dh has gone to Costco now.

I also choose to be non political, particularly here. I enjoy you all so very much!

I am so glad mom is living here - she woke from her sleep believing her dreams to be real. She dreamt that she had left the house and couldn't find where she should be - address after address was wrong. I have had similar nightmares - a touch different - but she thought she really had left the house. I was finally able to convince her that it was a nightmare. I think it helped that I have had nightmares - dh and dd said the same.

I am concerned by her remembering seeing birds/ plants/ places in the south of France and Dambach but not her past 68 + years. I think I will bring out pictures from her previous houses and her gardens as a reminder of life in the states. My worry is that she will be like my grandfather and only speak Alsatian.

not a day to worry about what hasn't happened. It's a beautiful new day! :D

YES!!!
I am so very thankful for this safe place to come be with SHE friends.

Cathy - to answer your question. Yes, I keep track of what is happening in Canada. Even though I have no control over what happens, it matters to me. You matter to me.

Today our local BBQ place is open. The owner switched from being open one day a week to only opening one day a month. The last Friday of the month is almost a 100% guarantee that I will be shopping there.

I have been to the garden 3 times this morning. I am still moving slowly and gently because of pain in the right hip and rib side of my body. I strongly suspect the pain is from increase gardening. If that is true, it will go away as time passes and my body gets used to increasing movement.
