Re: Easter Monday /Angel Monday
Easter Monday is the second day of Eastertide, and a public holiday in many countries.. The first-known use of the term ‘Easter Monday’ began in the 15th century. It is dedicated to the remembrance of the episode of the Gospel in which women, after the events of the death of Christ, go to the tomb of Jesus. When they arrive, they do not find the body of the Master – who has risen – but an angel of the Lord, who awaits them in that place. From the angel, they receive the great news: “Do not be afraid, you! I know you are looking for Jesus crucified. He is not here! He has risen as he said; come and see the place where he was placed”.

Re: Easter Monday /Angel Monday
Good morning, everyone, and happy Monday!
Gma, your church service sounded truly amazing! (I think music is very strong in your congregation?)
Today we have a bank holiday - I'm not sure what we will be doing - no one else is awake yet, so I'm not sure how Freddie is feeling. He did eat half a pouch of GI food last night, so I'm cautiously optimistic. It's raining again,
so no outdoor jobs for me, but I'm hoping to have a little time with my dolls house - the grip wax arrived yesterday, so I can hopefully now persuade the tiny little things to stay in place! And I need to do some housework. I would like to *not* have another visit to the out of hours vet, but that's going to depend on how Freddie is feeling today.
Have a good day, everyone!

Re: Easter Monday /Angel Monday
Happy Monday, everybody! A bank holiday here as well. The first group of Easter carollers was ringing the bell at 7:45, but they were out of luck, I didn't come downstairs till 8:00, just in time for the 8:01 group
My kids are happily sleeping, they prefer not to go carolling. Plan for the day is simple - get upstairs all cleaned and spiffed up (there's still residues from the painting/carpeting job, because DH really doesn't do well at the finishing line), and then the garden. And of course the kids' homework - DS has to turn in a 30 second rap video in German, which consists of his least popular things - coming up with a text, translating it to German, and then having to record himself. I can see how well that will go! If it was up to him, I think he'd happily accept an F on this assignment, but it's a team project and he can't let his teammates down.
kittykatt, hoping you'll manage to stay out of the vet today!

Re: Easter Monday /Angel Monday
Good morning, Trissie! I don't think I'd be coming downstairs at 7.45 am on a bank holiday, either! DS has my sympathies- I would have hated that kind of assignment at his age as well (self conscious teenager!)
Freddie seems to be on the mend, he's eating pickily, but at least he's eating, and has eaten most of his breakfast (half a pouch of the GI meat) with his meds, and a little biscuit. Part of the problem is he is still "coming down" from yesterday's sedation (he was given ketamine as part of the cocktail of drugs yesterday, so he wouldn't wake up and attack anyone when they touched a sensitive spot. The vet needed to check his bladder, and she would have to be near his painful right hip to do this, and no one wants a repeat of the "incident" two years ago.
) So, I'm expecting some grumpiness from him today!
Jude is now having a "rest" on the bed, and Matilda.is busy hoovering up all the left over biscuit.

* * * Good Morning! * * *
trissie, sorry you were woken up before 8 on a bank holiday. Congrats on making it in time for every one to have a bedroom to sleep in yesterday night ! I can see how your DS wouldn't enjoy recording himself in a German performance.
kittykatt, thanks for the start. I'm glad to read that Freddie seems ok. I'm having a thought for all those dogs at the vet who must have eaten chocolate while their humans weren't watching... Not sure how to have a safe chocolate hunt in a garden when you own a dog...
Enjoying a Monday off. It's nice to be able to CUOP in the morning. DS6 is still in bed, MrNG is in the garden, intending on sowing more things. We already habe a forest of tiny tomato plants (12cm high), and the cucumbers and zucchini are sprouting, along with various squash. He thinks we will need bee-attracting flowers. The kids may help, or not.
Ds9 is busy preparing his bag for tomorrow's sailing lesson at school - well, with the school teacher but not in the school obviously. He's a bit anxious, he didn't enjoy the first lesson, there are four more.

Frenchie, is the sailing a school class, or an afterschool activity planned by the school? Yay for having Monday off - a bank holiday in France or you taking a vacation day?
kittykatt, I still don't get how people can get high on a veterinarian anesthesia, a.k.a. kethamine!

Re: Easter Monday /Angel Monday
So glad you're enjoying a Monday off work, FFB. I have heard of people putting chocolate eggs inside reusable plastic egg shaped containers to try and protect them from dogs, but dogs sense of smell is so acute that I wouldn't want to risk it myself!
Trissie, the UK has a huge problem with ketamine abuse. (I'm with you, I don't understand it either!) There is talk of further restrictions on it, which I am conflicted over, as it's such a useful, indeed essential veterinary anaesthetic, (and in smaller doses forms part of a "cocktail" of drugs that enables refractory patients like Freddie to be safely examined and treated for things that don't require a full anesthetic). But, the side effects from long term human abuse of it can be devastating, with people even in their 20s suffering chronic, serious and extremely painful bladder conditions, along with chronic incontinence (sorry if TMI!).
The rain has mostly stopped, and we've even had a bit of sun, but it's still quite unsettled and windy, so I've had a few minutes in my front garden, and a long chat with Dneighbour R. I've tidied up downstairs, given the kitchen a quick clean and run the hoover round. Freddie has had several small meals. Matilda is highly jealous, so has been allowed to lick the spoon.
. I'm now making a start upstairs -DH is also off work today , and is currently out for a walk, and taking all his beer bottles over to the bottle bank!
