Tuesday Ta Da Tally PWYC Today

Post by Twins' Mom »

Today is re-entry at home day for me, there's lots to do! While counting up the ta da tally, thinking of Harriet who undergoes the procedure to remove her port, on her way to wellness again.

Lots for me to do to, so let's start the tally!

Good Morning!

Twins - Welcome home! I always miss you while you're off having adventures and travels.
I consider it my super power.
Costume Lady perfectly described my thoughts and feelings about ours and loved one's unique abilities and challenges. Embrace those super powers and put them to use in ways that bring you joy.

Last night I kept thinking I would get back here to post, but life kept happening. DS16 is such a social person and sometimes it feels a bit overwhelming with how many of his friends come over. They are CONSTANTLY doing something. I remember interacting with 7 of his friends last night but I am not sure there weren't more. I am very thankful they are all respectful to us and all-around good people. Not perfect....not by a long shot..... but teens that are fun to be around and leave you wanting to be around them more.
musings....DS16 is making plans to launch himself when he becomes 18 years old. Who knows what the future will hold, but if his plans work out then there are 14 more months of him living here and our home being filled with his friends. It is a short phase of life that seems to pass slowly while living through it and being so busy but looking back later the different phases of raising kids seems to happen quickly.

Today is DD13 appointment with her counselor. It feels like a treat to have an appt that isn't being squished between other things. I love summer break!

Just a quick post here; we have hair appointments in half an hour so will have to leave in about :10.

Glad to hear Harriet is hitting another milestone to wellness.

We have a contractor coming this week to work on the house. They just said "this week," so I asked DH if he could work from home today in case they came while we were out. He's home, but finally he contacted them and heard back -- the plan is to start Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the robins who have nested on our windowsill have tried again for some eggs; we've seen broken eggs in our yard twice before. I want them to be able to have their babies, but I don't know what is to be done. :(

I am going to get my tips dyed blue again. DD is going for a streak of purple. I almost typed DH there. He has no hair to dye. :D

It is time to go; I hope I will catch up with you later.

So much to catch up here! I did look in when I could but the time away was pretty busy. I'm feeling like hibernating today, but we will see dfriends A and V. After the nap yesterday I decided I couldn't possibly go out last night to A and V's bbq but I encouraged dh to go. Of course, he wouldn't without me. So I had an evening on the couch, and for my supper finished up a bit of filet and asparagus left from a fabulous dinner on Sunday evening.

The conference was wonderful. I really enjoy being with genealogy people where I feel like an extrovert for several days, but it takes a lot out of me too. I was worn out every night. Dh had a great time on his bourbon adventures, mainly tasting and purchasing bourbon. He spent awhile yesterday unpacking and rearranging his collection and updating his app. And there were some husbands for him to talk to do. I brought him a "HODAR" ribbon for his nametag, which he didn't use. It means Husband of DAR member." He didn't see the fun that I did in that!

I've walked the dog about two laps and nearly another - was doing a third lap with dfriend M and her dh and Ruby and rain started, so we turned back. We may have rain all day.

When asked what I planned to do today my answer was "As little as possible." Not entirely true, but nearly. Friend V asked us to come over for left bbq tonight so we'll do that. Dh wasn't happy I changed my mind about going last night but whatever.

DS16 isn't working today because we have received over 2" of rain in the last 48 hours. He has decided to organize the shop today. ***shock!*** What if this leads to him organizing and cleaning his bedroom? I can only dream.....

The mosquitoes are not my friend. Every. Single. Time. I. walk. outside. they. ATTACK. ME!
I am outside almost every hour so that gives them over a dozen opportunities per day to do their thing.
I am not a fan of mosquitoes.....to say the least.

Some ta das to report. I'm making progress.

The sheets from the bed last Thursday are in the dryer, and a load of laundry to hang up is going. Laundry from the dryer (from before we left) is folded and ready to put away.

I did an Instacart grocery order that the shopper is picking now, so that will come in the not to distant future.

I made my omelet and fruit brunch and enjoyed it, and charged up my Fitbit.

I check bank and credit card balances on Tuesday and that is done. That includes the HOA accounts and cemetery.

I've cleaned out my email inbox.

Dishwasher is loaded up and running, We didn't start it before we left.

And cleared kitchen counters.

And watered plants on front porch.

Dh is in the car in the driveway on the phone with someone.

LadyM there are recipes on the internet for "Buckets of Doom" for mosquitos. Here's one: https://www.northcarolinacharm.com/how- ... s-of-doom/

Nancy, very nice that you have things blooming and that you saw the wild turkeys. We've had them here but haven't seem them in awhile. They're usually around more in fall and winter.

Mystery, I hope you figure it out on the robins. Could be starlings getting into the nest...

Back from the haircuts. My hair is now shorter, and the ends are blue. DD got a streak of purple in her hair in addition to the haircut. DC did not get any dye, but did get a bit of an undercut. We'll go back just after the 4th of July. I had her go back to the shade of blue we used the time before last, because the blue dye we used last time faded quickly. She was surprised, because that one is supposed to be a permanent dye, while this one is semipermanent. Well, that's not how they acted on my hair.

Swung by Rally's for lunch on our way back home. This meant driving very near my old house. I didn't really get a good look at the house, because we turned the corner before then, but they haven't cut down the oak tree out front, so that's good.

Got DD to work on time. Spent a little time after that watching YouTube videos with DC, then did my exercises, then came back here. Just CUOPed from the weekend.

Our weekend -- Saturday was livestream; Sunday was cookout and games with one set of friends, and Monday was games and dinner with friends K&P.

Twins, I did not realize starlings have beef with robins. It could well be starlings -- we have plenty of them around -- but come Thursday, I think it will be contractors. They will be working on the wood trim on our brick house -- doing repairs as necessary, power washing, and then painting. (Obviously not all the same day, but I imagine it will only take them a couple.)

Next up for me: cleaning up the remains of lunch, then starting a load of wash. I will peek in on payroll again, but if, as I expect, there is still nothing, I really should tackle my to-do list, which includes a thank-you note I have been procrastinating on.

Have a great day!
